Rating: Summary: More than it seems Review: This is so cool. When I first saw it, I thought is was just SimCity in Egypt. I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!! The compex game play is amazing! I would give it 2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 out of 5 stars!
Rating: Summary: This is one of my favorite games despite a flaw Review: I bought this game about three months ago, and while I play other games, I always come back to this one. It is very intricate such as you have to plan where you put things ahead of time in order for you to achieve the best results. Your citizens will want food, pottery, beer, and many other things, and if these things are not close by at a bazaar (even if you have a healthy stock somewhere else) they will leave. I have noticed I frustrating thing with building monuments though and I think it is a bug. You use Work Camps to get peasants for the labor, and they haul the bricks and stones to build it. After a while no peasants will be around and when you click on the monument to see why, it will tell you no one has showed up for duty. This happens even when I have several work camps near the monument, more than enough people to work, and full supplies. They just stop out of nowhere. There is no information in the game or manual to tell you why this is happening. It was only with a "cheat" that allows me to finish the level was I able to move on (and I hate using "cheats"). Outside of this I enjoy the game very much, but would give it 4.5 stars if I could.
Rating: Summary: No food, no sleep, just Pharoah Review: As an amateur Egyptologist, this was a must-have when I played the demo. Since then, countless hours/days/weeks have passed me by while playing this game. Does the sun even rise and set anymore? I have no idea, I'm busy playing Pharoah. I've gotten many a friend hooked. Now go away, I have to get back to my game. Wasting precious time...
Rating: Summary: Caesar III All over again Review: Although they attempt to distinguish this game from Caesar III with some minor religion and "family reign" type settings, this game is Caesar III with a different front end. If you like Caesar 3, you will like this game also. It plays very well and the movies aren't bad. If you got tired of Caesar 3 (as I did) don't buy Pharoah... it is close enough that you won't want to play it.
Rating: Summary: if you want a god get this Review: there are gods in both this and that zues game so if you want a god get those two games
Rating: Summary: Worth Every Penny! Review: Pharaoh is an extremely thought-provoking, strategy-dependent game. The setting is ancient Egypt. What's nice about Pharaoh is that they don't through everything [options] at you at once (concerning the city-building, etc). You start in the Pre-Dynastic period, working your way up through villages to larger towns, each time increasing your "responsibility" level. (aka, more food options, trade available, etc.). In the Archaic period, you focus more on building towns and military. It goes up through 4 more periods after that; so that your finished product is a magnificent city, with shining temples, large industry, satisfied citizens, and an able military. This game is worth every penny!
Rating: Summary: This game could have been so much more Review: This game was a fun game, but it could have been made so much better. It had many fun points to it, with a lot of variety, although theirs so much variety, and since everything can be made in the form of something else, it can take a very long time to get to "point A to point B". The game also has a very boring "custom land" game, where you are given a type of land, and you just build, as their are no more than 12, and only like 3 or 4 are any good. The campaign is VERY confusing, as i was in the 4th level, i accidently chose "continue playing level" after i beat the level, and now it wont let me advance, wont let me replay the level, wont let me rebeat the last level, etc... So I had to restart the entire campaign, which is very annoying. Also, the game is extremely easy. My friend, who had never played Pharaoh, or any game like it, played for about 15 minutes, and had already made a city that could rival the greatest city ever built in Egypt. Also, this game seems just to be Caeser 3 in disguise. i have Caeser 3, and this game bears amazing resemblance to it. i know their both made from the same company, but many aspects of the game are almost identical, and the only difference is the picture. Which is why I gave this game 3 stars, it's a fun game, but if your even mildly good at any "city-builder" you'll beat this game in about one coffee break. Or if you've played Caeser 3 and you didn't like it, expect the same reaction from this game.
Rating: Summary: Good, but slightly annoying Review: This game is very fun to play. It's almost like SimCity with an ancient setting. Though it's fun to play, at the start of each level you have to start another city over again--from bear terrain. Overall, it's worth the money, but over time it becomes annoying to keep building cities that can take many hours to build at a time.
Rating: Summary: I love being a Pharaoh! Review: This game is the greatest. I've finally gotten to the stage that I'm the Pharoah. The game does an excellent job of teaching you how to become a Pharaoh. You start out very small with very few choices to make, but as you progress through the various scenarios more and more options become available. This, obviously, makes governing more challenging but at least you aren't overwhelmed with options like in the Alpha Centauri game. The early games here, teach you what you need to know! You don't need any kinds of strategy books or anything outside of what the game interface provides to be a success in this game. The one thing I wish, is that now that I've become a Pharaoh, I could request goods and services from other cities like the Pharaoh has been doing to me all along!!
Rating: Summary: Very fun Review: this game is one of the most addicting games i have ever played you. in this game you have to build cities for your ruling pharaoh{hence the name of the game}you can build industrial structers to entertanment structures tax your citizens and build huge monuments to display your power.the reaplay value is not so good but it will take you awile to figue out how to lay out your city the depth is amazing you go through 5 stages of evoulution ana as yoou prgress throgh them you will find new and interesting features.the only problem i have of this game is the combat.the combat is horrible your little guys runnug around swingin there swords and shooting there arrows and all you think is what the hell are thay doing?and there is very little combat i might add 1 tip of advice you can right click on any of your citizens and he or she will give you a summery fo what they thing of your city ar advice based on what field of employment they are in. so in conclusion if you are a big fam of the sim city series and doint mind dubing it down a shade buy this game it the sim city of egypt.just a little more fun then simcity i think.but if u like the COMBAT do ot buy this game.it is not like age of empires in that way.the combat of age of empires is 600 times better then pharaoh but the building phase wipes aof out of the water.
