Rating: Summary: Cool multi game Review: Playing alone is not as fun as playing over the internet just like many reviewer said. Playing over the internet really makes this game much much more valuable for sure. I have 500 MHz, 320 MB RAM, 64 MB Video Card and works just fine. You don't have to have latest and greatest PC to play this game though box recommends about 700+ MHz. If you are looking for war type internet/network linkable games, you should definitely get this one. I do recommend having high speed internet when you are playing over the internet, or you will absolutely hate playing because internet lagging will cause you to loose life way too often.
Rating: Summary: BLARGH!!!!!!11 Review: first things first- this game would have a 5 if i could just get the friggin game to work for more than 10 minutes at a time!!!!!it always crashes whenever start up a game- but when it does work, its outta this world. if you see an unoocupied vehicle, its yours. you havent expirenced bliss until you fly a spitfire behind german lines, hijack a tiger, and put a shell in your enemies back without them not even knowing you are there. butthe other EA pc game i got is AALLIED ASSAULT, and it crashes often too. hmmm.... lets ponder this situation. all but 3 of my ps2 games are from ea ( i got 7 ps2s from ea), and i lov them all. SO WHY WONT ANY OF THEIR PC GAMES WORK RIGHT????!!!??? BLARGH!!!1
Rating: Summary: A bit overhyped but still a good game Review: To start off, I think it's fair to say that I am not in a very good position to review this game because it didn't run well on my computer. However, performance issues still should be noted. I have a Pentium 3 800 Mhz with 256 MB of RAM and a Geforce 3. I guess it's not a gaming rig with a Geforce 4 Ti 4600 with an Athlon 2700+, but it still should be able to run Battlefield 1942 decently at the lowest detail levels. Unfortunately, it doesn't. My computer chugs along at 10-20 fps at the lowest settings. Even the mouse seems laggy in the menu. The 3 minute load time is also really annoying. And no, the 1.2 patch didn't help. However, ignoring the performance issues, it's still a great game. In the past year, 3 notable World War II games have come out: Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor, and Battlefield 1942. Battlefield 1942 is definitely a step beyond RTCW and MOHAA. IMHO RTCW fell short on the number of multiplayer maps; it always seemed like I was playing the same maps over and over again. In addition, one of the checkpoint maps had phoney machine gun and bomb sounds that came from the same building everytime you passed by it. Yeah, the flamethrower was cool, but that was about it. MOHAA had a wide map selection, but the aging CS model of gameplay put me to sleep. On one map, the Allied forces need to plant a bomb on an Axis flak cannon. Sound familiar? It sounds just like CS. Battlefield 1942 is a radical departure from these two games in that it offers massive multiplayer maps with vehicles. It gives a different feel to the WWII gaming experience in a way I cannot describe. Simply put, it's just better than RTCW and MOHAA. However, I think the fact that there are 35 different vehicles overhypes the game. Yeah, it's nice to have different vehicles. But the 35 include tanks from all 5 sides, planes from all 5 sides, and cars from all 5 sides and everything pretty much has the same properties except that they look different. Battlefield 1942 is also hyped to be everything Tribes 2 was supposed to be but wasn't. As a big Tribes 2 fan, I find that a bit offensive because Battlefield 1942 comes nowhere close to being what Tribes 2 should've been. Battlefield 1942 is much more slow paced than Tribes 2 and is no match for Tribes 2's heart-pounding action. I'm not saying that Battlefield is not a good game, I'm just saying that Battlefield 1942 has a different flavor. Battlefield 1942 can't be hyped to be everything Tribes 2 was supposed to be just because Tribes 2 crashed all the time and Battlefield 1942 doesn't and because both games have vehicles. I just wish that I had a better computer to play Battlefield 1942 because it is just a great game. However, I think it's a bit overhyped.
Rating: Summary: Counter-Strike + Day Of Defeat + Vehicles = BF1942 Review: All I can say is...wow. The Graphics are Gorgeus, The Gameplay Is Tight, And Controlling Of Vehicles With The Exception Of Planes (If you don't have a joystick.) is really easy! This game is like putting together two Half-Life Mods: Counter-Strike and Day Of Defeat with a new added formula which is, of course, the vehicles! Now the only flaw in the game, and sometimes of course in Counter-Strike FF On games is the Team Killing! I mean come on, if ya can't get in a plane or get frusterated with your teammates doesn't mean you go on a shooting frenzy! Hopefully they will put up a patch for this. Another huge flaw in the game is the "Lag". Even with running a Pentium 4, 512 DDR Ram, and a really good video card...it will still be laggy! But of all the flaws, it's still a good game. It also has the Counter-Strike Formula: If you dun work with your teammates, you'll lose....badly. This is a really good game, I'm proud to dub this The "Cousin" of Counter-Strike.
Rating: Summary: A cool game! Review: I really like this game alot, but unfortunately, the AI still lacks in singleplayer mode. Adn usually, if you don't do most of the killing, you lose. But it is still fun and very intense and you get to play both sides. It takes a little while to beat the singleplayer game. The multiplayer game is also very cool. Your basically playing the same maps as in singleplayer. But there are a few annoying things. Like when you are the allies trying to land on the beach, you can control the battleship and shoot the big guns that are on the battleship. Ths problem is you always have someone who wants to drive the battleship around and then you have alot farther to go to land on the beach. Or someone always shooting those guns and when they do that, they typically blow up their own teamates more than enemy. Another thing thats annoying is the vehicle situation. I have a cable modem, but I always seem to have to wait at the beginning of every map to respawn. By then, all of the vehicles are gone. That gets annoying since all anyone does is drive around in the vehicles all of the time. There aren't alot of battles involving man against man. The last thing that bothers me is all of the patches you have download. In the 2 months I have had this game, I have had to download 2 patches just to play on line. One day, I it kept asking me if wanted to update, so I said yes and it froze my computer twice. After downloading patch off the internet, I could play on-line again, but about 3 weeks later, I coudln't get on and had to download another patch. But overall, this game is fun to play once you get in get to play. There are alot of other vehicles you can us like jeeps, tanks, and airplanes (though I cant get the hang of airplanes). I really did like this (despite some complaints I said here) and both the singleplayer and multiplayer are cool. Not the best FPS ever, but definitley a good one.
Rating: Summary: GOD HELP ME I CAN'T STOP! Review: I can't stop playing this game!! I want my life back!! HELP ME! This game is sooo addicting. The multiplayer battles are too much fun; fighting on a HUGE battlefield with 63 other people blowing each other to bits with explosives, guns, and various naval, air, and armored vehicles is irresistable. There are some flaws with the gameplay; the infantry combat isn't as polished as some other first person shooters, but believe it or not that really doesn't matter. The focus here is on using vehicles and strategy rather than charging in with your guns blazing, as a rambo style approach will get you minced up in no time. The use of vehicles really is the selling point for this game; they really make the game more fun and add complexity to the gameplay. You can either bomb your enemy from above or fire artillery shells at their base from a distance; or you can sneak in by foot or jeep and go for their flag, it's really up to your preference. Single player is useless here however; if you're looking for a good WWII single player experience refer to Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault or Return To Castle Wolfenstein. The learning curve for online play with those games is less steep than BF1942 as well, since this game requires you to learn to navigate a large battlefield which is much more complex than most maps from other online shooters. While both of those titles also boast great multiplayer modes, they aren't quite as authentic as BF1942, nor are they as engrossing; there's just more freedom here and more methods for destruction. If you like playing games on the net, buy this now!!
Rating: Summary: didn't get anywhere near my expectations Review: After reading all of the reviews for BF: 1942 I decided I'd buy it...it seemed like a good game going by the reviews. It's really a bad game. the gameplay is terrible, it has a lot of glitches, and it takes 5-10 minutes to load a game. Don't expect this game to be very fun because of the flying...it's terrible... the only reason why I didn't give the game 1 star was because the tank missions are pretty cool.
Rating: Summary: the best and no bad Review: This game is a fantastic war game every one should have this game.this game does have one bad side to it ,its a resourse hog. Out of my 55 army game this is my favorite. So if your child wants it git it!!!
Rating: Summary: BEST MMOFPS- Very Dynamic Review: Tribes 2 + MOHAA/SH + Great FX + Low Req yet looks spectacular + A great new bound to be popular Genre, taking off where tribes 2 left off. Just get it and experience similiar styles as RPG FPS STRATEGY. I've finnaly found a game that works for me in all ways in this starving industry.
Rating: Summary: Addicting... Review: This game is one of the most realistic and fun war games out there. The controls are relatively easy, the play is outstanding, and the graphics are top-notch. Now, as other reviewers have said, this game is very very heavy duty. You will need at the minimum a gigahertz processor, with a pretty heavy duty video card. I have a 2.26 ghz p4 with a radeon 8500 128 ddr memory and it runs very smooth. I am totally addicted to this game. My one complaint about this game is the lack of voice communication. I understand that the game was network-intensive enough already, but I think voice would make this game sooo much better. Still a 5 star game though!!
