Rating: Summary: Well worthwhile addition Review: Being one of the most addictive games that I have ever played, I couldn't possibly see what another expansion pack could add. However, 'Hot Date' adds a whole new dimension to the game. For one there is the downtown area, which is fantastic. This means that you can go on dates with other sims, meet new sims downtown, go out for meals, to a bar and lots more. In downtown there are several new characters to meet, such as the blonde bombshell and the lounge lizard. The new social interactions that come with 'Hot Date' are probably the best part. Now there are several different ways to talk, joke, hug and kiss, all with different reactions. Obviously the makers had a sense of humour because over-excessive interactions such as leaping into another's arms are great fun to watch. All of this really adds a whole new dimension to an already great game. Plus, now that your sims have interests (which they change by reading various magazines), it's a lot more challenging to meet and get along with someone. For instance, it's incredibly difficult to fall in love with someone after one date only, although new items such as the love seat and the picnic certainly help! The only small thing I would say is that there are barely any new objects for use in the home, which makes it a little tedious once you have tired with the downtown area. However, the fact that you can build your own downtown area on an unrestricted budget means that you won't get bored of it for a very long time. There is also the interesting addition of the first animal character, a bear that will react appropriately to your teddies and bearskin rugs. Just like 'House Party', 'Hot Date' is another winner.
Rating: Summary: Takes THE SIMS to a Whole New Level! Review: I initially balked at getting THE SIMS EXPANSION: HOT DATE--until I was able to get it for only $19.95! Talk about money well spent! As much as HOUSE PARTY added to the game, this expansion pack adds *far* more to it. Finally providing us with a whole downtown area for your Sims to shop, eat, date, ogle, etc., HOT DATE clearly sets the stage for the upcoming *final* expansion pack THE SIMS ONLINE, due out later this year. It also adds a dimension that is much broader, and more complex, than any of the previous expansion packs have offered us. Realationships are a much bigger deal this time around. They are also more difficult to establish. It now matters what specific interests you have in relation to what other people have. The more your Sims have in common with others around them, the faster it will be to become friends with them. Having next to nothing in common with another Sim, however, will make building a friendship virtually impossible. That's okay, though; you'll just have to make the effort to go downtown to one of the stores and pick up some magazines to read. This will help you build up your interest in subjects so that you can help get the guy or gal you want. :) Also, there are now two relationship bars for each person you meet. One tracks short-term rapport; the other tracks long-term feelings. This is quite useful because, even though you may have ignored a friend for a bit too long, you can become friends again real fast, either in person or via the telephone. Long-term feelings take some effort to build, but they take little effort to maintain. That's what makes it so cool. For those of you who somehow just don't get the whole SIMS phenomenon, this new chapter in the saga is unlikely to change your mind. However, for those of us who are more or less SIMS addicts, this represents exactly what we've been looking for. This is THE SIMS, in a much bigger, badder, bawdier world--and we're all the more grateful for it! :)
Rating: Summary: Diehard fan of The Sims, but a little dissapointed... Review: If you have seen my reviews on the other expansion packs, you can tell that I LOVE The Sims, however, this expansion pack was a little dissapointing. I love the downtown area and all the cool things that come with it, the love seat, diner, and shops, all of these are great fun. However, the new process to build up social relationships takes ten times longer. Now sims are picky and you can only do the same interaction two times within a four hour period. This is extremely frustrating, because I usually do not count how many times and order an interaction, and my sim usually ends up offending the other sim. Now I'm not saying building social relationships are impossible, it just takes several meetings to become friends. Before this expansion pack, I could befriend at least three sims in one night home from work. SO: IF YOU ARE MORE INTERESTED IN THE NEW SOCIAL INTERACTIONS, SUCH AS SIMS MAKING OUT AND LEAPING INTO EACH OTHERS ARMS, THAN BY ALL MEANS GET THE EXPANSION PACK. HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR SIM'S JOB MOVING SMOOTHLY WHILE EASILY MAKING FRIENDS, PASS ON THIS ONE.
Rating: Summary: True simmers will especially appreciate this addition! Review: FINALLY! All of us simmers have been waiting for the chance to play with a family AWAY from the home! The houses are great, but sometimes a Sim needs a change of scenery :) That's where the downtown comes in. You can change the stores, decide what should be sold, and basically do whatever you want! My only wish would be that it would give more empty lots for development. Other than that, it's great!

Rating: Summary: Best Thing to Happen to the Sims! Review: This is a great expansion pack. I believe it is the best expansion pack that Maxis has made. The downtown area is a nice addition to the game, giving the Sims that you created a new area to interact with each other. This is well worth the $30 that they are asking for.
Rating: Summary: Things are red hot on this expansion pack! Review: For those of you who haven't played The Sims you are missing out. The basics of the game is to build (or break) a family's bank account, social relationships and what not. The great thing about it is that the possibilites are endless in this game. You could be a fireman if you want by placing an easel to close to the fireplace or be an architech and build your house from the ground up. The Sims: Hot Date offers you to not be held back into your house by to explore a downtown and to party the night away. This exapasion pack is by far the one that lets you do more outside while Livin' Large and House Party focused more on making house life more interesting and entertaining. Also Hot Date lets you build downtown buildings free of charge and has many new downtown itmes like food fast and fine dining tables and dressing racks but lacks on the amount of new items for house which the others have. The Downtown - The downtown offers things like never before. First automatic perk I saw was in the mall I saw dressing racks. Finally I can pick out a swimsuit that's not a pink speedo for my fit males! Shopping is nice and you can buy gifts to give to friends which is added to your inventory (a new feature) Dating is probably the most interesting. While you're in one of the downtown building in Live Mode you will see people from you neighborhood there and people called "Townies" which you can make friends with. If you feel your relationship is good enough with some one, you can asked them out. If they say yes, then the date is on! You can do whatever you what: play with remote-controlled boats or cuddle and play footsie in the booth. And each neighborhood has its own downtown so you can make lots of places for your sims to go. Building - The wallpaper and floor opitions have expanded so customizing your house to you is easier. The new thing is the natural water tool which you can make a pond in your yard. Or a moat if that floats your boat. Outfits - The big thing is you can change your swimming, formal, and sleeping outfits but I would say about 15 new outfits are added. The Townies will wear a random outfit from the collection so if you downloaded unusual outfits like spacesuits or the Lady Marmalade girls (like I have) you might see some weird looking people Hot Date is make social life for your sims better and funnier for you. Just make sure YOUR social life comes first becuase it's easy to get caught up once your in.
Rating: Summary: Hot Date, just bugs, or real fun? Review: Hot date, a huge step in The Sims history! Hot Date allows Downtown, a huge, new roll to The Sims! Downtown is a place where your sims buy new clothes, dine or fast eating, buy maganizes and candy, plus you can go on dates! Hot Date allow has more then 125 objects, which are most for downtown. Now there is Main grouping, and with Hot Date, semi-grouping of groupings. There is a short-time bar, the same as in every other The Sim game, and now the long-time bar, that is really hard to get up, but if you do, and your both in a good mood, you can get things, HOT! Grapics/Looking Animation, well it's the same as in every other The Sims game, which is...:10/10! Fun, this takes the cake, this is much more fun with this expansion pack, :9.5/10 Gameplay/Movieplay, it lasts for a long, long time before you get actally bored with it,:9.5/10 Sound, downtown music is great! I love the downtown music!:10/10 Overall, this game is near perfect, REALLY near perfect!:9.5 which is Awesome/Perfect!!! (Note, this game has some bugs in it, to download the patch, it's at, The Sims.com!)
Rating: Summary: Great Addition! Review: This is a great addition to a good game...the possiblities are virtually endless!
Rating: Summary: Hot Date has Problems Review: This expansion pack has alot of bugs in it yet if you are a true sims fan. Requires organizers etc. to use any fan site downloads. Has caused numerous crashes to the desktop, sims to get stranded downtown and other strange phenomenon. I don't recommend this pack to anyone until Electronic Arts releases a patch that actually fixes the problems they missed in beta testing.
