Summary: Not what you'd expect
Review: When I would read the previews for the game I guess you could say I got..."ginny". But when I made the stupid decision buying the game I relised everything is slow and even locks up your computer on occasion. Now, I have 124mb of ram and a pentium 4 proccesser. I can't imagine someone with the minimum requirements for this game trying to get it going. Of course any expansion pack for the Sims wouldn't be horrible to own but its not worth the price they put on it. I'm not really sure die-hard Sims fans will really get a huge kick out of this game either. The only decent part of the expansion pack is the extended buying mode. But remmember thats also in house party (not as big a selection but you see where I'm going with this). I know I sound like a fool but people save your money, wait for sims online or something. Your best bet for now would to buy house party.

Summary: very good
Review: i'm actually in france so i had to wait 2 to 3 month before buying it.Then i understood what was all the fuss about. All the object menue is organised with new items (cookies, birthday cake , jacuzzi with the form of a heart, sofa....) and the most ecxiting is that you can go in town(even if all the shops and restaurent are a bit similar ) before when you wanted to do a romantic dinner it was impossible you were always obliged to take care of the others before they come and reck your dinner weing on the floor or falling asleep. All the problemes are solved you can now go at the restaurent and you can buy presents for your boy/girlfriend, (rings,flowers,magasine,clothes,chocolates,.....)
A last word to say that that hot date sim disc will boost your daily life !!!!!!

Summary: The sims hot date beats it all!!!
Review: Wow! I love this game it's funny and cute. You can take 1 sim out of your house and go to downtown, where you can shop for Wedding, lingerie, casual, and swimsuits, Magazine's, jewelry, toy's, and candy! You can invite a sim on the phone, at your house, or even downtown. The object of the game is to get married even though I think it's funner not being married because you can't ask your spouce to go on a date. There are more things to do too! Sounds perfect huh well 1 of the only setbacks is children can't go (it's so unfair!) overall it's a great game!! :o)

Summary: Good Game
Review: I think that this expansion pack, like the others, is quite exceptional. Though nothing is perfect, and there are some drawbacks to this game, I still give it 5-stars anyway.
Also, which may make the game more interesting and fun.... You can download a lot there (though it's under contruction at the moment...) which makes gameplay more fun and, in some cases, "easy".
Ultimately, I think that this game is quite addicting and gives me something to do that is fun as well. I recommend this, and other expansion packs, to almost anyone (just because of the interactions between people; some parents wouldn't find it suitable for their children).

Summary: Hot Date can complicate things
Review: One of my first complaints about the Sims was that it wasn't very complex. Relationships had a base level, they went to their jobs, and entertainment was calling someone and inviting them over, or watching tv. Livin' Large gave them more things tp play with, House Party gave my Sims something to do besides watch t.v., and Hot Date fills in everything you could possibly want.

Hot Date can complicate things. Instead of meeting another Sim, talking with them, complimenting them, talking some more and then hugging them to make a family friend, you now have two meters on your relationship scale. You have the long term and daily meters, which means it takes longer to make good friends or fall in love. This isn't necessarily a bad thing; it means you have more work before your Sims are good friends or lover. The added abilities are nice too, they can shake hands or wave to greet someone, there's a bunch of goodbye options, and they're no longer limited to just talking, they can talk about interests, or just gossip. Also, Sims have interests, so they can find common ground with other Sims. It would be nice if you could pick each Sim's interest, but there doesn't seem to be an option for that.

This is definitely a more adult game, as there's intimate kisses and hugs, there's a cuddle option, and a blond bombshell in downtown. The downtown is interesting, there's a lot for a Sim to do, and you can change it to look however you want.

Overall the new complexity and a seriously long load time make this my least favorite add-on. I don't mind some of the added complexity, but this is going way overboard. After a while it gets tiring to try and keep friendships just so, and to invite someone downtown for fun. It takes the realism a step too far, from being a game (or toy as Maxis calls it) where you can direct things, and makes it more of a realism simulator, although the Sims don't seem to learn or get smarter as the days goes on.

The load time really bothers me, with Livin' Large and House Party, my Sims take close to 4 minutes to load, without viewing the introduction. Also, when I create a new neighborhood and check out the downtown, it takes several minutes to create it. My computer isn't all that fast, at 1GHZ, but it's still irritating to have to wait as long as I do for it to load, especially if I'm only checking something or get called away from my computer.

Summary: Worth it for the Downtown Area
Review: If like me you have found yourself devoting a neighborhood to a "social spot" just to see the sims interact without your control, then you'll find this expansion pack worth it simply for the new downtown area. You control one Sim downtown (of your choice) and your other characters come and interact. This impacts their relationship scores back in the neighborhood. Be the master of your own great social experiment!

Summary: Much more fun than the orignal!!!
Review: When I got the sim's I had so much fun playing it, but I realized that the sims could only stay at home. When I heard about Hot Date I just Had to get it! As soon as I got it I put it on my computer, and ever since my sims have spent all of their time downtown. If you're thinking of getting the orignal get this with it! It gives you more neighbor-hoods, more objects, and more options. And even if you already have the orignal this is still worth getting

Summary: Cute expansion to the game
Review: Hot Date offers a nice expansion to the game, especially the inclusion of the downtown area. If you are a fan of the game this is a must have.

I still take issue with the game's energy model, which effectively means you have to take a day off in order to go downtown, otherwise you'll poop out after going to about one shop. Also, it is high time they added a weekend into the weekday model, if only to add a little variety. Sure, you can take a day off, but it's not quite the same.

The fact that the game's major weaknesses still have not been addressed makes me knock this down to three, although if you really like the game as is you should consider it a four. (I would reserve a five for an add-on that revolutionized the gameplay.)
