Rating: Summary: Sid Meier's new version of PC Compatible crack has arrived Review: Alot of the logistical headaches are gone from this newest offering of the Civilization series. CCTP has had a definite impact on the thinking of some aspects of the game (particularly trade and settling) but basically this is a Sid M. game through and through. I found that the fundamentals were quite good and the AI seems excellent. As there are many plusses there are some minuses - The CD detection is unreliable about 30% of the time and the resource distribution algorithm is haphazard at best. But otherwise I've found it to be an enjoable game and while I don't plan many sleepless nights..they just occur around this game. Face it folks, the latest version of PC Compatible crack has arrived.
Rating: Summary: A short game, short history and short civilization Review: I started to like civ from Call To Power. Although I'll admit it's a fine game, there are several things I don't like. First, in CTP there is a short movie when you build a wonder, which looks cool and is one of the moment that I can feel my achievement. But there is only a stupit pic after your 30 rounds of work in civ III. Second, there is no entertaining to get into the war. There is no battlefield view to see your soldiers crush their enemies, all you can see is just little green bar turns yellow and red and then they disappeared. Third, it goes only a couple of years after current time, and the game is ending, there is no cool future techs. The most advanced ground unit is tank! Fourth, I don't know how to delete those games I have saved! Well, all over all, it's an OK game, but not worth 50 bucks!
Rating: Summary: Not Happy Review: After playing stratagy games such as AoE, Empire Earth (Amazing), C&C, and many many more, i first touched CivIII without playing the first 2. My word:- it's bad. Its so boring, the only person i could see enjoying this is an old person with nothing better to do than spending 20 'turns' creating a warrior. Do yourself a favor, do not buy this game, empire earth is 200% better than Civ, go and spend your hard earned cash on that.
Rating: Summary: The best Game EVER~ Review: civ 3 is the best game ever made. The graphics are unreal and the thought process this game envokes is insane. be prepared to be consumed by civ once you purchase it!!!
Rating: Summary: Very fun, but read the end of this review. Review: It's tremendous fun being a king. Now with improved trade, superb graphics and mind-bending strategy it's very cool! You can rewrite history with about 12 civilizations from the history books. Talk to major world leaders like Abe Lincoln, Joan of Arc, and Bismark. However there are many flaws too. If you retire or have a bad score, (It's almost impossible to get a good one) you see your picture with brusies and band-aids all over you. And they call you pathetic or even worthless. And if you want to be a world power, you have to look like a world power. For example if you want to be American, you have to look like Abe Lincoln. Kids would hate it. Bored adults and teens would not find it as offensive as younger kids. Overall, I think it's stupid! An offended ten year old boy, Joseph
Rating: Summary: Loki Review: Don't Bother... This game offers nothing new or interesting to the genre... It is Civ II in 3D, except with a few additional annoyances like "strategic" resources. Alpha Centauri is a far better game... Civilization:Call to Power is infinitely more fun. If you must play this game out of loyalty to the series I understand, but don't pay 49.95... Get it for half price over on eBay... I'll have my copy up on there in a few minutes...
Rating: Summary: John Nelson..a VERY experienced gamer Review: I am a 66 year old gamer who started gaming in the earliest days of Commodore. I have also been a game developer. Civ3 has raised the bar for all games to follow. It can be as complex as you wish. You can spend a few hours to hundreds of hours playing the game. The interface is terrific. The developers have paid attention to the finest of details. The music and graphics are very good. Re-playability is limited only to your imagination. Pay attention, game developers, as the level of this game is your ultimate goal to attain!
Rating: Summary: Okay, time to dig out Alpha Centauri again Review: Well, I LOVE Civ II, and I LOVE Alpha Centauri, so I, like lots of other people, was excited about the release of Civ III. I mean, it could only get better, right? Wrong. Simply said, this game isn't nearly as much fun as the other two I've mentioned. It's boring, with all the micromanagement; it's frustrating; the user interface is lacking; the commands are too limited; the computer cheats (such as kicking my tail with far less capable units on Monarchy level). I haven't had the patience to play this game to its fruition yet. Even if I manage to do relatively well, I'm not having enough fun to bother continuing. This is stark contrast from those long, sleepless nights playing Civ II and Alpha Centauri. So in short, don't bother with this one, especially for (...) or more. That money is better spent elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Civ III....well...... Review: It's interesting to read these reviews as most are raves or rants - with very little gray area. The complaint of one ranter, is the high point of a raver. Having developed multimedia and games for Microsoft and others via 3rd party development Cos. my first point - Know thyself when reading these reviews!!!! Some points. The 'improved' AI - Civ III is much harder, even after the shakedown period. Many of the same complaints were made about Civ II being too hard, cheating too much, etc. But we figured out how to do it. That said, let's not mince words, it's not 'better' AI, it's just more of the same cheating that has always gone on with the Civ series - free production, not having to support units, automatically locating goals whether they be resources, enemy cities/units and of course the mad sharing of technology with every other civ. These are just a few. Live with it, Sid ain't gonna change. He and the development team consistently kept the machine cheating, and consistently tried to eliminate the cheats that folks have used to get around it. Corruption problem - there is the bug factor, I don't think that it was supposed to be this severe...but again, see above Slow, bloatware approach to the game. Again, Civ II was an improvement graphically, but a slower game, Civ III is NOT even an improvement IMHO, it goes down the CTP and Colonization path which, Sid you listening? Didn't exactly go over very well did it? It's way too large, and way too slow - I wish Sid would have realized that when he dumped the throne room of Civ I it was a GOOD thing - you look at it once or twice and turn it off - now every screen is a static throne room display with slow loads. I keep getting the impression that Sid and crew was furious with the fact that people were playing the game their way, not his way and has worked to force everyone to play the game his way. It is possible to win that way, but very, very slow and the game play (itself very slow)doesn't provide the punch to get you through. The Wonder movies, a small item, gave a sense of progress and marking the time - this game feels like nothing is going on for hours without anything really happening. The visuals get old - and when they do.....well.....we would really like to have something happenalong the way. It's an OK game - the culture concepts are interesting, but only half developed and historically not terribly accurate (don't pretend parents!!!). I can't really recommend it to the Civ addict, because the feel of play is different and slushy, but for a non-addict, or someone new to turn-based, it's a decent, not great game.
Rating: Summary: Could be fun if it did not crash so often Review: I really hate it when games do this. I played earlier version of Civilization years ago and it was more stable.
