Summary: Microsoft Train Simulator
Review: Amazing product, being an ex British Railways Fireman I was able to get straight onto the Flying Scotsman and take it From Carlisle to Settle, no problems, just drawing on my firing skills learnt in my employ.. like wise the class 50 diesels and the DMU. So many add ons to be got from fan club web sites and groups. Have added Swansea - Carmarthen route and added GWR loco's and stock to run on it... including the only GWR 4-6-2 'The Great Bear' brillient to see it running.

Summary: Best Game Ever
Review: This game is the bomb!! You can travel from one place to the other. I think this is Microsoft's best PC game ever. Whoever doesn't think so. TOOOOOO BAAAADDDDD!!

Summary: Very bad
Review: I could not play this game although my system exceeds the requirements specified on the box. My computer freezes every time I load a game. In addition, the graphics do not look real. It doesnt deserve any star. Waste of money!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Only if you are in to trains!
Review: This simulation is good. Its even greater if you are into trains!!

Summary: Great but difficult
Review: This is a really neat train driving game but not for the young. My son is only 7 and this being rated for everyone I thought it would be perfect but it VERY HARD. You have to copy out the manual then try to read and drive. I think its really cute but will require an adult to assit them. It takes several buttons to drive it and several to control it. I was thinking it would just be go and stop but this is more real. All in all very interesting and real feeling but requires the advise of an adult to help. I copied the 90 page manual then put it in plastic sleeves so my son can flip through it. You will need to copy this manual because all the trains drive different and you can't stop the game to keep going back to the manual all the time. I think it's a good buy but be willing to spend some time to learn the tricks of the trade. The train simulator book is useful also and you can buy it right here at Amazon.

Summary: Not so good
Review: It is fun the first hour or so after you buy then it gets boring. It has realy dumb features, and doesnt teach anything you ever need to know. The lessons are way to slow, and boring, the game is all boring in a mater of fact it is so boring it is boring thinking about it. It probaly could have been beter, but microsoft made a good decisian to work more on Flight sim and perfect it which they pretty much have and gave up on dumb train simulator. I wouldnt waste the money to buy this game.

Summary: Microsoft has did it again!
Review: If you like Flight Simulator, you're likely to love Train Simulator. This game literally puts you in the engineer's seat. Microsoft has worked closely with Amtrak, BNSF, Flying Scotsman Railways, Kyushu Railway Co., Odaku Electric Railway, and the Venice-Simplon Orient Express to bring you 600 miles of track to explore. You get tutorials that teach you the basics of driving a train. You recieve dozens of activities for you to complete. You can create your own rolling-stock and even your own railroads with the editors that are included with the game. But it doesn't stop there! There are many groups that are dedicated to producing add-ons you can purchase online, many are free! Train Simulator recieved the 2001 Reader's Choice Award of Model Railroading Magazine! This is a railroad experience you wil not soon forget!

Summary: Love the game but ...
Review: This is the first version/edition of the game so it's a little bit buggy. The Marias Pass route, in particular, has a notorious spot where the train comes uncoupled every time. Otherwise it's a must for anyone who loves railroads.

This game is a lot of fun. Drive passengers on a high-speed rail route, or sort out freight cars and drop them off at sidings. Deal with rain, snow, speed restrictions, other traffic on the line, and more. Drive an electric, diesel, or steam locomotive. If you're up for a real challenge, drive a steam locomotive and act as your own fireman.

You can go along for a ride, or take a tutorial lesson in driving a train. Explore the route on your own or try one of the activities. For more advanced users, there's the capability of building new routes and adding activities.

Best of all, there are some excellent online sites where fellow Train Simulator enthusiasts offer their own add-ons to the game or where help and suggestions are always available.

Summary: All aboard this modeled and detailed sim
Review: Well Microsoft brings out another simulator, on involving planes, and now one involving trains!!! This sim has 11 trains with many miles of track. From the Marinas Pass in Montana, to the Acela Express in the east, this game sure has featured trains from the past and from the present. My favorite is the Acela Express because of its unique design and the ability to go 125mph!!! There are challenges as well, good activity in the game.

There are always cons to even the best of games, first is the lack of a printed manual, why cant microsoft afford to print manuals anymore, were paying lots of money to buy these games and no manuals. Except ones on the cd. Also it feels like your the only human out there, no people and no AI trains passing you by, you are the only one out there.

If microsoft would pay attention to these cons, this game could have been 5 stars, but in school terms, its a B+

Summary: Windows Home XP works!
Review: I have XP Home Edition and the program works fine.

This is not the game I expected, though. I was looking for a game more like Sid Meir's RR Tycoon. This game is all about driving a train and not building a city and train. I am not a train enthusiast but this game is fun none the less (thank goodness for the strategy guide.)
