Summary: The *only* worthy pc basketball game
Review: After spending countless hours playing nba live 99 for psx, which up untill was the greatest basektball game of all time.. I was very eager to check out live 2000 on my souped up 550 celeron pc with tnt2.. man.. is this game unbelivable.. no other basketball game comes close.. EA has done an excellent job of re-creating the digital basketball experience.. the players are unbelievably lifelife.. and the moves that they do are unbelievably realistic! Be forwarned, however.. the requirements for this game are pretty heavy.. on my celeron 550 with xentor tnt2 ultra, its pretty choppy at "maximum" detail, and "very high" detail settings. I had to set the detail level at "high" and it's very smooth now.. This game (as well as other EA games seem tend to run better in glide as opposed to d3d) (no glide for tnt2 owners =(... no worries though.. this is an excellent game regardless.. the "multiplayer" matchup feature that's built into the game is cool! its very easy to get some multiplayer games going and play players around the world. I've started a season already with the denver nuggests (nick the quick baby!) and am having alot of fun.. I cant say much else.. this game rules! buy it now!

Summary: They don't understand
Review: Halleluyah! EA Sports finally broke down and gave us some alltime teams. They even added Micheal Jordan. Now we can watch Jerry West go up against Allen Iverson in the regular season or the 90's Bulls take on the 60's Celtics in the NBA finals. Wait a minute. You say you can only access the alltime greats in exhibition mode? Whats the point of having the all time greats play if it doesn't count? Why wouldn't EA Sports....Ah crap.

Summary: THIS GAME ROCKS!
Review: I haven't bought an NBA EA Sports game for a couple of years now and was blown away by this game. The graphics engine is awesome, down to the detailed crowd animation. I like it when the crowd gets into it as your game gets more and more exciting. However, the crowd still does not go berserk if you win a thriller at the end. And EA Sports, how about adding those crowd waving "foam distractions" when players are taking free throws?

The inclusion of the Jordan feature is a true bonus and the ability to play historic teams is engaging. However, the game gets really easy real quick. You can put up a boat load of points with any team (think Clippers and Bulls) even in their current incarnations.

But still fun!

Summary: nba 2000 steals the show
Review: I must say that NBA Live 2000 is out of sight. The one on one mode over the internet is unreal and depending on your connection with the other player ... Look Out because the moves are fast and the players look real. Playing mostly on sony I never really knew what the possibilities were on a PC but my eyes have seen the light. My advice to you is make sure that your video card can handle this game and get the speakers out because the in your face style will grab you and not let go.

Summary: NBA Live 2000 Good, But Could Be Better
Review: It is easily the best basketball game out there on the markewt today for computer. But it isn't perfect. I love the dynasty mode, but some aspects of the game are very unrealistic. Overall a solid game, but I'd wait for 2001.

Review: NBA Live 2000 is the best effort to date. There are two primary reasons for this statement: 1) Michael Jordan; and 2) You can get in the game.

The Jordan feature is huge. How many of us spent time creating players with his specs and name in previous editions? I don't know what EA did to get him to participate, but thank you!

Another new feature is that you can literally get into the game. You can upload a scanned image of your face and create a player in your likeness. It's not a perfect representation, but it's pretty close and makes for some added fun. The next logical step is to enable the announcers to speak your name. Hearing, "#99 is a consistent shooter" just isn't as fun as hearing my name, but oh well.

The graphics and gameplay are amazing. There's a lot of added emotion and it plays more like a real NBA game. More fouls are called, the defenses switch correctly, opposing teams make better decisions, the dominant players dominate, teams streak and go through dry spells and the benches perform well. Some of the likenesses are actually really darn close as well. Great soundtrack too. Rahzel rules!

The only drawback to the game is the ability to rack up an unrealistic ammount of points. I had 103 points 8 minutes into the 3rd quarter in one game and was leading by 40. This has always hounded EA and it's likely just part of the game one has to learn to accept, but it's disappointing to see my entire team leading the league in almost all statistics. Other nitpicks include the ease of blocking shots, breakaway dunks that turn into jumpers under the basket and the inability to handle play behind the backboard gracefully. Lastly, Reggie Theus just spews the same three phrases game in and game out.

However, NBA Live 2000 is still an action-packed, visually stunning game that is a blast to play. I never grow tired of it and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes basketball and sports games.
