Rating: Summary: Nice looking game, but buggy Review: I have to admit I had high expectations when I bought this game. EA Sports does a great job with their games and I have never been disappointed, until now.The game does look great. The courses are spectacular. The commentary, while it does get repetitive, is a lot better than in their other games. They do a good job of reflecting what is going on in game. What I don't like is how buggy it is. A good example is the stored replays of the Best Putt. In Best Shot it works fine, but on Best Putt there is no button to exit the replay. The only way I found to get out was the 3 finger salute. I've also experienced quite a few crashes while playing the game, which I've never had happen with my other EA Sports games. Another feature I don't like is pointer arrow when you are aiming your shot. It doesn't seem to take the features of the course into consideration. It generally points to the flag, regardless of what lies between you and the flag. The tiny overhead view on the side isn't very good at telling what to expect, so I've had too many cases of driving my ball into the ocean. If I could have seen what was up ahead better, I could have compensated for that. This is a fun game when it works correctly, but the bugs are far too frustrating for me.
Rating: Summary: great game play Review: The true-swing feature is great. It replicates real golf more accurately than the silly two- or three-click method. It's a little slow, but tolerable. The tournament play is nice, and being able to go through a PGA tour season makes it much more like the other great EA offerings. They should adjust the algorithms in Pro tournament play. You end up with a lot more golfers under par in at the end of a TW2002 tourney than in a real tourney. It's the best golf sim I've played...
Rating: Summary: Awesome After The Patch Review: Tiger Woods 2002 took all his previous games, threw it out the window and started fresh. At first, the game ran very slowly on my powerful machine and I was frusturated. I set it aside for a few weeks and finally discovered a patch had been released for it. Urgently, I downloaded it and was amazed by the end result. The gameplay ran WAY WAY smoother and I found a new found love for the game. I look forward to downloading created courses and possibly making one of my own. I strongly reccomend Tiger Woods 2002 to all golf fans. They surely will not be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: EA Sports Has Hit A Hole In One With This Golf Game! Review: Unlike other EA Sports games where they recommend you go offline to play them, to help prevent the game from crashing, you actually have to be online to get this game to play at all! That has to be because of the amount of data it takes to show all of the various golf courses. EA Sports shows an amazing attention to detail in the various courses, the different golfers, their actions, and even the crowd's reactions. I hate playing a PC game where a gamepad or a joystick is required to play the game without difficulty. Using the mouse for True Swing to hit the golf ball is as easy as it is realistic. A game with the greatest graphics in the world can still be very frustrating to play, unless you can master it enough to play it well. In no time at all I was making par on a lot of the holes, and even hitting the occasional birdie. Don't get me wrong, it's not too easy by any means. Hitting it out of the rough and certain sand traps took more shots than I care to mention. I also enjoyed the comments of the announcers, particularly when putting. They usually mention whether a hole breaks to the left, to the right, or doesn't break at all. I especially enjoyed playing the Pebble Beach golf course; the scenery was spectacular. I can't wait to use the course architect feature to design my own courses. EA Sports has come up with another winner!
