Rating: Summary: Great golf-sim, period Review: I've played with all the Links versions, starting with Access Links 386... when was that again? This is just a great golf simulation and it keeps getting better. You got it all, from the beginner to the expert gamer. The game is incredably realistic, with backspin, punch and flop shots (yes, I do play golf for real) and tournament style options. It is actually MUCH better than the 2001-version, which was a disappointment in speed (I've a PIII-700 with lots of everything!) and compatability (with the older versions). Importing my old courses was a snap, as is using the game over the Internet. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Be Hesistant When Buying This Product Review: If you already have some of the add on courses that went with Microsoft Golf 2.0 and Links 386, they probably would be outdated for this new version and wouldn't transfer. Find out before you get this.
Rating: Summary: Can't reccommend it Review: Jack Nicklaus GBC has passed Links by. Links is still a great game, but the JN game is flexible, playable, and looks better. Plus, there are hundreds of courses available for download all over the web, many by the same designers who did the courses that are included in GBC. Links makes you pay for their courses. Until Links releases a course designer, improves the play options and the playability, they'll come up short. Still a very good game, and if you're used to the Links family, you may not be willing to change. The JN game is, however, better this year.
Rating: Summary: LS 2000 Is The Best Simulation Out There Review: Links LS is a God send to golf fanatics of all ages. The realism is uncanny and the play is almost as good as being there. The game is easy to play and even offers lessons on how to play better. This software also has internet play built right in. You can play on-line tournaments or even one-one play at The Gaming Zone. Microsoft also sells add on courses that makes you feel like a pro. You couldn't get on these PGA courses in real life, but with Links LS you are there! Don't worry about the software going out of date. I previously owned LS 99 and decided to upgrade. To my surprise, Microsoft offered a $15 rebate if you owned a previous Links LS version. You will be amazed at this game. If you are trying to decide between Tiger's Game or any other sim game, wonder no more. This game is IT!
Rating: Summary: If you use a dedicated gaming platform, beware... Review: Prior to purchasing "Links", I read the customer reviews. Most, if not all, rated this game as either good or excellent. I must respectfully disagree.Even with a high end system, the graphics are only a shade better than mediocre. Further, the user interface is clumsy, with mouse control of the swing function both inconsistent and often inaccurate. The game scenarios, while attempting to invoke an air of realism, are artificial and do not yield a true "course" atmosphere. As a golfer and avid gamer, both desktop and "dedicated" (Playstation, Sega, etc.), I was disappointed. However, I decided to expose a friend to the game and compare reactions. He liked it. Most perplexing. The answer was quite simple: My friend, a better golfer than I, had little experience with non desktop gaming. To him, "Links" was Nirvana. Accordingly, I stress my warning: if you have significant, recent experience with Playstation, Dreamcast or even some of the slightly older versions, desktop computers do not compare when performance elements such as interactivity, graphics and playability are factored in. This may not be a popular point of view, but specialization in any field, gaming or neurosurgery, does have its advantages. If "Links" is your only option, and you are desperate to play golf with unlimited mulligans, by all means buy it. However, make the purchase from a reliable vendor such as Amazon, just in case you decide, as I did, that it was not money well spent.
Rating: Summary: Links LS 2000 Review: The best computer golf game period.I have downloaded Demo,s of 2001 thru 2003 and no comparison.A look backward by Microsoft might give them a clue for the future.
Rating: Summary: Playing golf has never been easier. Review: When Links first hit the software market it was the talk of the town, now the latest version LS 2000 is going to follow suit. This three cd set is the best golf software package bar none that I have ever tested. The install has an upgrade or full install depending on whether you have LS1999 installed. I recommend the typical install unless you have 800MB of free space. Also you will need cd disk 1 in order to run the game. The graphics and sound are even better than before and this version does run under Windows 2000. You have more options to choose from in the setup of players, more professional golfer like Fuzzy Zoeller installed and more overall match options making this game one of the best around. Also include are six new course to choose from and a screen saver. I was very impressed with the software, but knowing Microsoft reputation for quality gaming application this should have come as no surprise at all. I highly recommend this product to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Game Review: When you buy this game, you are just dont get the game. You get countless new websites to see, sites to join, tournaments to enter, and friends to meet. Online play is the coolest thing about Links. I have met many good people through Links. I reccomend getting add-on courses to make your experience even more enjoyable. So grab a soda or beer(im too young to drink beer) and just kick back and play 9 with some buds. Enjoy!
