Rating: Summary: NBA is sort of the game Review: ... about your computer players make a 3 a good 90% of the time sometimes even if you block them i don't get it the other people on your team don't help defend although the players graphics look fantastic i usually play the Sacramento Kings and it's a very realistic game you can save it in a playoff or a season but not in the middle of any game which [is weak] i was very little impressed about this game
Rating: Summary: This game will bring your computer to it's knees!!! Review: As a hardcore basketball fan, I got NBA Live 2003 during the holidays hoping to be in for the time of my life. First of all, I cannot get this game to work on Windows 98 at all!!! Thankfully, I have my own computer with Windows ME. I heaved a sigh of relief when it loaded with no problems but I was in for disappointment... DO NOT GET THIS GAME IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 256 MB OF RAM!!!! NEITHER SHOULD YOU GET THIS GAME IF YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR MONITOR'S CAPABILITIES!!! The game has frozen about 5 out of the 6 times I have played it just because I tried to optimize the detail settings. I know what I am talking about. I have NBA Live 2001 in my CD drive and it has never given me any problems. I would recommend getting a PC compatible game controller with two analog skills for the new Freestyle control. It is pretty difficult to move around using the Freestyle control and it doesn't help knowing that the game is ruled by a mad, blazing fast break where the opponent scores in the 70-80% range. It is rather unfortunate that EA requires payment to continue use of it's online gameplay. Live 2001 offered totally free online gameplay. The blocks in this game are monstrous as well, consider yourself a savant if you are actually able to keep the ball out of bounds after a block. The hip-hop soundtrack is excellent featuring artists such as Fabolous and Busta Rhymes among others whom I have learned can be unlocked in the game... Navigation in the game is very compact and you will more than likely memorize where things are quickly. Overall, NBA Live 2003 has much to offer (maybe because it's the only competent basketball game around for the PC). The default controls are tediously placed and will require some getting used to but the Freestyle control promises some exciting highlight reel footage to silence all your blabber mouthed friends...
Rating: Summary: not as good as live 2000 but better than live 2001 Review: considering u can get from one end of the court to the other in 2 seconds flat, that kind of indicates where this game is headed. very fast paced, lots of monster jams! keep the difficulty level on all-star, the 3rd highest, for realistic AI and competition. the 1 on 1 feature is pretty cool also. online play is enjoyable but the 3 games i have played ended up in a blowout! but i was on the winning side during 2 of those contests, however. im borderline b/w giving this game 3 or 4 stars, but ill give it 4 because i enjoy playing it!
Rating: Summary: EA has gone arcade crazy with NBA Live 2003! Review: EA has gone arcade crazy with NBA Live 2003! There are far too many dunks, blocks, steals and fast breaks! The AI is totally unrealistic! Everyone seems to be flying around like Vince Carter, dunking on almost every possession! This is more like a highlight reel or commercial than a game and it certainly is not a simulation anymore! NBA Live has turned into Triple Play Baseball! The entire game seems to revolve around never-ending dunks and animations. People that never dunk or block shots are doing it repeatedly! This looks more like NBA Jam than NBA Live. This is all on so called, exhibition mode. I suppose that on arcade, everyone fly's around non-stop like superman! PC users had to wait two years for EA to turn a simulation into a slam-dunk contest! I think the programmers at EASports need to cut down on their sugar intake! The graphics are pretty good but the coaches look very weird especially Byron Scott of the Nets. Again, too many dunks, blocks, steals, fast breaks and repetitive animations and no real AI and no realism! When a 6-foot guards block 7-foot centers, that is really totally out of touch with reality. It's fun if you like a too fast-exaggerated arcade game but forget about it as a simulation. Since I want realistic AI in a simulation that reflects reality on planet earth, I am very disappointed! Manuel Calcagno
Rating: Summary: Online NBA FUN Review: EASO is a new great feature. I bought this game in order to see the online play. Hope to compete against others. Other than playing online, the game gets boring after some time.
Rating: Summary: "NBA Live 2003": Better than most. Review: First, I'm very pleased EA Sports decided to continue the "Live" series on PC and release a 2003 version. If they hadn't, the only basketball simulation on the PC market would have been the 2001 version of "Live" - not that the game wasn't good, but it pales in comparison to this year's release. Even though "Live" 2003 has its shortcomings, it's far better than nothing at all. The latest edition to the "Live" series offers some new features. The addition of the fast break makes the game a bit more realistic, provided you're able to cover the break on defense adequately. I like the quick plays they incorporated, and the new FreeStyle control. The graphics are far better than the 2001 version. Some of the player animations are hilarious (especially during the play offs and the end of big games.) All the rosters are current, of course, and your favorite players all have their gear - Iverson's arm sleeve, Kidd's leg band, and even John Stockson's short shorts! The great parts definitely outweigh the bad. Still, for what reason I know not, there is some of that "bad" thrown in. Some of the complaints by other reviewers are fully justified. Naturally, the game has its shortcomings - so many, in fact, that their presence might ruin the game for some people. To begin, the game pace is indeed ridiculous. If you have the patients to play 12 minute quarters (which I never did - half of that is max for me) you'll likely score over 200 points. Get accustomed to point guards rejecting shots (old school, indeed) into the fifth row, power forwards snatching six to seven steals per game, and anyone with a rating over 92 nailing 30-foot jumpers and throwing down tomahawks all over the place. The computer will fast break on every possession if you let it, while running a fast break yourself takes some experience to pull off. Also, the rap music is extremely annoying. Here are some solutions to the above listed problems: 1 - I've heard there are some downloadable patches on the Internet to reduce player's skill level, although I have no idea where this patch might be. 2 - If you want a realistic NBA score at the end of the game (somewhere between 80 to 110 points) I recommend playing quarters between 6 and 7 minutes. This also allows for realistic assist and rebound ratios, though the blocks and steals are still ridiculously high. 3 - If you want a realistic score, play realistically. Don't give the ball to Kobe Bryant ever possession. Run set plays. It's that simple. There are many to choose from, but the favorites seem to be the pick and roll, isolation (don't overuse this, especially with the better players), 3-point shot, and post-up. By using these not only will you take some time off the clock but also improve your chances of scoring a basket in a realistic manner. 4 - If the computer continually fast breaks, turn off the "crash boards" option. This way only your forwards and center will go for the rebound, and your back court players will shuffle back on defense. You might loose some offensive rebounds to the other team, but the ratio always even out in the end. I guarantee that this will eliminate 90% of the fast breaks. The only time the computer will be able to execute one properly is on a steal or a block. 5) Shut off your speakers when navigating the menus. "NBA Live 2003" is certainly not a perfect game, but no one should expect one. When you get down to it, the game is very enjoyable to play. So let's all overlook some its shortcomings and be thankful that we even got a 2003 release.
Rating: Summary: THERE'S NOTHING BETTER THAN THIS GAME! Review: From the minute I got this game I just couldn't stop playing it. The graphics are great, the sound is awsome and the gameplay is outstanding. The question is who wouldn't want to play this game?!
Rating: Summary: Awesome NBA Live 2003 Game!!!!! Review: Hey, don't say that NBA Live 2003 is boring you.. I have played this PC game, and the graphics are much better like real players's motions. PS 2 is really similar to PC. The EA Sports did a nice job on programming the designed advanced features of slam dunks, dribble moves, blocks, and some coaches and players's reactions. They have the cool jerseys, and tattoos arms. I believe that this PC game is even the best in my life. You have to love it, and trust. So buy it. Don't believe that PS 1 NBA Live 2003 was released last November 2002. They combined some PS 2 version to PS 1. I recently checked with the shot screens, and they really look the same as NBA Live 2002. You can either get a PC-CD, or PS 2 NBA Live 2003 game. You don't need PS 2 console if you have a single system, then you can get a PC CD.

Rating: Summary: EA turns Live into an Arcade game like NBA Jam Review: I bought this game with high expectations and was very disappointed. i was expecting a game that resembled real basketball in some way. Instead i got a game where you can average a triple-double rather easily and lead the league in almost every category. NBA Live is not a very accurate portrayal of the real NBA, instead it's just a dunkfest where the ratings are some-what irrelevant (not to mention very unaccurate). The game requires almost no skill, the first time i played it i won by 25 points and i was the magic and playing against the celtics. Another problem with the game is that good players almost never miss and bad players miss way too little. Instead of shooting around the 40-50% range like in real life, paul pierce can shoot 70% from the 3 point arc. Even though certain people can drain every shot, the computer can block every shot for you. You really don't need to switch to on-ball defender to play good defense, instead you can let the computer accumlate 3 or 4 blocks on the same play and maybe get a steal. Then all you do is pass it to the wing man, make a move or another pass, and you've got an easy dunk. This game is very unaccurate when the user is on offense as well. There are games that i've played where every time down the floor i'll post up Kevin Garnett and backdown the defender til' we're under the basket and i'll dunk on him. The only defense the computer has to this is the random steal out of nowhere. The Franchise mode in this game is very weak. My friend enjoys this arcadish and unrealistic feel and he played a whole season with the Timberwolves franchise and he ended up 74-8 while Kevin Garnett average 45 points, 19 rebounds, 12 blocks, 8 assists, and 4 steals per game. Even worse, he did not improve his rating even one point. Needless to say, after that my friend stopped playing franchises and now only plays seasons. Overall, this is the only basketball game available for PC, but it does not deserve to be as popular as it is. The graphics are reasonable, but the rest of the game is complete trash, gameplay is somewhat rough and the moves aren't linked together very well. It gets repetitive and boring with the same dunk animations and is very unrealistic, way too arcade stylish. I would not recommend wasting your money on this game unless you enjoy arcade games where winning is very easy
