Rating: Summary: Very Unimpressed Review: FIFA 2003 is a great game, but falls short in a few places. This is what I think of everything in the game:-- GRAPHICS (5/5) -- Some of the players on FIFA 2003 look identical to what they do in real life. They have the correct kits including sponsors for most teams, and on the whole I think the graphics are amazing. -- GAMEPLAY (3/5) -- I would call the gameplay better than FIFA 2002 for a few reasons, although I have found a few problems. On the plus, the players can actually cross the ball, bad either, and you can score from outside the penalty area, and they have changed the free-kick gameplay, and I like that better, but the problem with the gameplay is the computer. When they are three feet away from the goal with the easiest chance to score they put it wide. And also, when you are playing a bad team, when you start attacking, the defenders run back to the goal giving you an easy chance to score. -- SOUND (4/5) -- I absolutely despise the FIFA 2003 soundtrack, what is wrong with it? In FIFA 2001 and previous versions, the soundtrack consisted of good music. It had Reel Big Fish and way better music, but now they are playing a lot of dance and techno music. On the other hand, the commentry was excellent, gave you random facts about certain players like the real commentators do. -- REPLAY (4/5) -- FIFA 2003 might get boring after a while, but it certainly has a lot of competitions to play in. It has the league which you can play from 16 nations including the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A and American MLS. It has the Ladder Tournament, a tournament where you have to climb a ladder of teams; if you win you go up and if you lose you go down. It has a reigonal challenge, where you start off playing teams in your area, but then play national, continental, and finally the world, the UEFA Champions League, and a lot more. -- OTHER PROBLEMS -- 1) There is no editor on FIFA 2003, but you can download one at http... 2) I get really annoyed with the sponsors and numbers on the team's kit. It always goes really bright. 3) Whenever you have a shot, and it is going slowly towards the goal and hits the post, it always comes back really fast. 4) The game is over 1GB, so some computers won't have enough memory to play this game. - Mr. Gospel

Rating: Summary: Not so Nice Review: Hmmm I am editing a review about a game that no one will play anyway (2004 being out)... Still, here we go: The Fifa series has become really shallow and boring. Fifa2003 sucks worst of them all. In that one you can't even use headers, for crying out loud... In short, forget Fifa and get Pro Evolution Soccer 3. It's out for PC as well as for PS2...
Rating: Summary: Very Unimpressed Review: I am a constant buyer of the EA NHL franchise but found this game way too slow for my tastes.. I am not a soccer fan either so this may be affecting my judgment.
Rating: Summary: I just don't get it. Review: I can't seem to figure out exactly why everyone is raving about this game. First of all, the graphics are horrible. How could they be so much worse than World Cup 2002? Yes, the game gives you "complete control" and is the most realistic around, but I don't think that's necessarily a good thing. You want a game that feels sort of like real soccer and looks realistic, but when I want to play real soccer I go outside with a ball. The point of a game is to be a little bit fantastic. Hence the star powers in World Cup 2002. But the worst thing is just how the game looks. The graphics look great on the EA website, but in actuality the players all run like Gumby, the field appears slanted, and the goals are simply grey boxes. Get World Cup 2002 instead, it may not have the club teams or the 10,000 players, but at least it's fun.
Rating: Summary: FIFA Soccer 2003 -- good, clean fun! Review: I felt a little apprehensive before buying this game. The last EA soccer title I bought was FIFA 2000 -- easy to pick up and play -- but the last two efforts (FIFA 2001, FIFA 2002) were slaughtered by critics. Much of what the other Amazon[.com] reviews say is true. Pros: - The graphics are good and famous players distinct. I run a P3@850MHz with 256DRAM and play was smooth - Likewise, the stadia are well drawn. You can see the photo journalists and items being thrown on the pitch! - The sound is much improved from 2000, making for a good crowd atmosphere. The music tracks are easy on the ear - Thankfully, the ridiculous goal celebrations have been cut back - Players seem to be more equal in ability - Selection of team colors. I'm color-blind and appreciate being able to choose strongly contrasting team strips -- which are, coincidentally, accurately rendered - Gameplay promotes crossing. I think this is a big step forward and it makes for greater realism. The game isn't without frustrations, however. Cons: - Gamepad control. MS's Sidewinder P&P "A" button is NOT shoot! Reconfiguring didn't seem to change this - Defending can be challenging. The toggling function can lead to strikers waltzing past your centre-backs - Weighting passes/shots isn't as simple as it should be - Getting the commentary team right is always tricky. Motson is the Madden of soccer coverage but he's uninspiring. Alan Green (also BBC) would have been better. Ally McCoist is a Rangers legend and a funny guy, but somehow EA didn't do him justice - I like the EA NHL option to create your own player. It's fun being able to play for your team. This isn't an option in FIFA 2003 - You seem to be restricted with changing team options only during h/t. I could be wrong but I tried and failed to change formation mid-game - The game is definitely Eurocentric. This is something of a big admission from EA who work hard to promote US sport. That European soccer looms large is true but Americans are slowly seeing the light as regards the sport. I hope FIFA 2003 doesn't reverse this trend. Overall, I would recommend this game if you are a soccer fan. As far I can tell, you really don't have a huge amount of choice for soccer games right now. EA dominate and their claim that they are the, "#1 selling soccer franchise", is probably correct. Gone are the days of [PC] Sensible World of Soccer -- awful graphics but truly, amazingly addictive gaming! Therefore, it comes down to your expectations of how a game should look and feel. I believe FIFA 2003 is a good attempt at combining attractive graphics with thoughtful gameplay. And it is an improvement from FIFA 2000.
Rating: Summary: Get ready Review: I haven't played the game yet, but I am buying it the day it comes out because of what I have already read about it. I offer some clips from Gamespot.com's preview for this game: Much of the game has been rebuilt from the ground up with an eye toward providing more realistic action for devoted aficionados who have at times struggled mightily with play that wasn't exactly true to life. The new game appears to be much improved in every area, including the core elements of play. According to Bilbey, the expanded design team started with dribbling. Many developers weren't happy with how a player became attached to the ball as soon as he took possession of it, finding that this one faulty element sabotaged any pretense that the FIFA series had to realism. So the first thing the programmers worked on was enhanced ball physics. They detached the ball from the ball handler's foot and added all sorts of little touches to make the gamer seem like he or she was really dribbling up the pitch. At the same time, the developers don't seem to have pushed their attempts at realism too far. More was accomplished this past summer than just a revamped ball control system. Once the design team was finished with this new, more realistic dribbling, they felt that it was out of place with the rest of the game. A few holdover elements made FIFA 2003 continue to play more like an arcade game, and since the developers were aiming at a proper simulation of real soccer, the decision was made to keep going with the AI enhancements. This branched into all other areas of the sport. Finally, EA Sports is making an effort to support the FIFA online community through the release of the Creation Center software. This editor program will be posted online ahead of the arrival of FIFA 2003 in stores so users can get a head start on developing add-ons. Creation Center allows you to edit nearly every aspect of play, from player appearance to team and league setup. All in-game files will be able to be imported to the Creation Center for alteration, including team song and chant WAV files. This program should be most appreciated by users who want to set up custom leagues representing the few national circuits that EA hasn't been able to license for official inclusion in the game.
Rating: Summary: Seeking balance and fairness Review: I still do not know if this game -as the other reviewer claims- certainly is just like the 2002 edition. However, I think it is misleading to rate it with just one star, because someone who hasn't played it may believe it is not a good game (actually, notice the other reviewer does not refer to the game itself but to its similarity with a previous edition). The 2002 edition is very good, a lot better -because of its realism- than the previous two. I give it five stars just for balance, so that other gamers can actually help to objectivelly rate the game and not limit our judgement on how similar it is to a previous one.
Rating: Summary: It's a Keeper Review: I would recommend this game to anyone... but I have to say that there's a couple of disappointments i've run into in comparison to previous FIFA Soccer Versions.. in FIFA 2003 I learned that there isn't a Create-A-Player mode in the game which I find disappointing another is gameplay might be too hard for beginners although I'm trying not to be negative this is an awesome game certaintly one of EA Sports best. just those two things disappoint me for some reason but I won't be returning it I'll defenitly enjoy this awesome title !
Rating: Summary: Don't buy this game Review: It is exactly like last year's game. This is a complete waste of money, and you would be better off buying a used copy of FIFA 2002.
