Rating: Summary: I really wanted to like this game... Review: The World Cup is on TV. The US National team is playing well, and I really wanted a good soccer game to quench my thirst for the World's game. This is not that game. I could tell you how beautiful the animations are (they are lovely). I could fill you in on how much I like the commentary (much better than Madden). I could let you know how crisp the stadiums are and how easy the management tools can be, but that would be pointless. The ugly truth is that soccer is a sport, sports are by nature quick and unforgiving, this game does its best to frustrate you by making precise control of your players impossible. The passing is, while simple, a grotesque piece of rubbish. The movements of your players are taken over by the computer while the ball is in the air, so you're constantly out of position (I still haven't figured out the logic behind this). All in all it makes a mockery of the game. FIFA 2002 for the PC is a lot like a vacuous super model...it's pretty to look at but empty inside. Not worth a dime.
Rating: Summary: Much fun, which is everlasting! Review: FIFA 2002 is great! With make your own players, teams, leauges and cups, YOU'LL NEVER STOP PLAYING THIS GAME! I play it almost twice a day. While your reading this, I'll propbaly still be playing it. It has over 500 teams from abot more that 30 leauges! MLS, K-league, Elglish Premireship, Italian Leauge, You name it. I'm nine and got it for helping out. I really did'nt do much and got a game that I didn't deserve. Good price. But the coolest thing is that you can make your own players and teams. I made a team of my school with all my friends in it. Oh, it's a boy game! ENJOY!

Rating: Summary: I would probably love this game if I got it. Review: I would love this game, if it was ever shipped. It has taken over a month, and I still haven't got it. Bad news, I guess. I hope I'll enjoy it when I get it.
Rating: Summary: A worthwhile game if you enjoy the sport... Review: Of the current soccer games available on the PC platform, this one is easily the best. The graphics are impressive, the gameplay is snappy, and the basic controls are easy to get started with. Like most games, you'll want to learn more advanced controls and techniques as you progress, but this game makes it easy to get up and running quickly. As with most games these days, you'll want to have a fairly healthy machine to play this on. Another drawback, in my opinion, is that it requires you to have the CD in while you play. I know it's for copy protection purposes, but it's still a pain. I like to play this on my laptop while I travel and having to schlep the disc around is a bummer, as I'd happily give up the drive space required to load the graphics and animations locally. Still, if you're jonesin' for a soccer game to play on your Windows PC, this is the one to get - no question.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as it should be Review: Although I enjoyed myself greatly playing this game, after doing so for a while I came to the realization that the only sure way to score is individual play - no teamwork necessary. This is hardly realistic. However, if you take the time to patch this game with one of the many gameplay patches available at the game's site, the experience will improve. The patch fixes a number of unrealistic instances in the title, such as the goals your opponent will score from the middle of the field, and a seemingly biased referee who overlooks CPU offsides. The graphics are rather good, though not as good as in Fifa World Cup 2002 or Pro Evolution Soccer (PS2). There is, most certainly, room for improvement in this area. But the most important area, namely gameplay, is the real problem. Fifa 98: Road to World Cup, released years ago (in 97) far surpasses the gameplay, realism and, most importantly, fun factor of Fifa 2002. For a better PC footie game, try Actua Soccer 3.
Rating: Summary: I Like It! Review: I bought this game after playing the demo which I found to be a lot of fun... I was pleasently surprised on the fun level of this game. It is full of action and the graphics are fantastic. I wish there were more stadiums to play in but thats a minor issue. There are quite a bit of game modes to play with such as Friendly, Season, Tournament, Online Play, and the Road to the World Cup. I wish we could actually play the World Cup but I guess we can only qualify. Maybe next year. I reccomend this game to anyone that likes fun sports games, Even if you do not like soccer like me, you can probably find a lot of fun in this game. Give it a shot!
Rating: Summary: This game sucks. Review: I am truly deeply disspointed by EA sports. I have played all the EA sport soccer games since fifa 96. However, I am more often dissapointed than satisfied with their games. Here are two big issues: First of all, this game is created by a bunch of people who never play soccer. The game is soooo unrealistic. Soccer is a team sport, but the game shows nothing about it. The best you can do is to get a fast forward to outrun all the defenders and shoot before the goal, skill doesn't matter at all. These are most common goals in all fifa games, boring! Or like in fifa 2001, you can have a fast forward to bring the ball towards the endline and then cross a volley to the middle and another forward can then head it home. It works every time, but still boring. In reality there are a thousand ways to score a goal, but in the game, you can left with only one way or two. You can never do things like in real soccer. Your teammates never run to open space or create open space at all while you control the ball. Your defenders fall for long ball + the fast forwards controlled by the computer every time. I can't help wondering, how can a game, which has more than 6 years of history, still leave so many things to be desired?! Secondly, there is no consistency in their different editions. Game control is different every time! Take a look at the FPS (first-person shooting games) world, now even different games have almost the same controls. I just don't understand why for the same game, the control has to be changed every time!!! Secondly, a later edition might throw away all the features of previous editions, whether good or bad! Take a look at this simple example. Before fifa 2001, if a player was hit very hard by a ball in the close range, he would behave as if nothing had happened. Of course this is ridiculous and computer opponent could utilize this "feature" to score like hell. Fortunately in fifa 2001, they corrected it. But now in fifa 2002, it's back to before again! Hellooo, is this game developed by two different sets of people or what?! I don't play other sport games created by EA sport, so I don't know how they do in those sports. But as far as soccer is concerned, they'd better quit and leave the game development to some better developers. I just can't stand them any more.
Rating: Summary: Warning, not compatible with all systems Review: This game crashes and will not load on my system. Windows 2000 on a Toshiba Tecra. I called EA tech support and downloaded updated DirectX drivers but still does not work. My advice is to wait several months for the inevitable patch. Be careful because opened software is not returnable. If you are unsure try borrowing the disc from a friend to make sure this game is compatible with your system.
