Rating: Summary: I love it Review: After having played many Nancy Drew mystery games, I found this really refreshing. I'm only talking about the mystery game. I haven't even gotten to the horse games - which is what I bought this for. The mystery was really neat! Sure at times it seemed a bit primative but it was so European in feel. The street scenes were just really not too all-American. The scenes were really pretty - the sky, trees and buildings. Sure the voices were in American English but you could see it was done by people in another part of the world with a different idea of a city and streets. Even the punks on the park bench were unlike stuff from the U.S.A. The main character has real short red hair. No blond Barbie! and isn't a goodie two shoes. She steals keys, lies and does stuff we all do that no one is afraid of putting in software for fear of being sued as a bad role model for girls! that's enough! Hey in the time where all software is sooooooooooo much the same- more worried about liability than entertainment - this is not perfect but refreshing!
Rating: Summary: No subject Review: First off, I know a lot of people are sort of trashing this game. Yes, the people who made this game apparently didnt know diddely squat about horses; there's only four inches in a hand, therefore its impossible for a horse to be 15.7hh. Also, a Steeplechase is actually a race against other horses with jumps, not just jump course. For the other stuff, what can you really expect? It's a COMPUTER game! It's NOT real life so it's not going to be extremely realistic. I live on a ranch and own five horses. Younger kids and those who dont own horses will probably love this game. But of course after you beat it it's going to get boring. It's like watching a movie you've already seen. And the reason you cant practice on the other courses except for on the main page when you click on 'practice' is because all the other competitions except for the first one are at different stables. And really, how are they suppose to give COMPUTERIZED horses personalities? Also, who cares if you can only have three horses? More than that is a LOT of work if you ask me, both on the computer AND in real life. Second, Ive never had ANY problems with this game. Annie and the horses are easy to control, everything loads quickly, and it hasnt froze. Also, I've placed first in all the competitions, so its NOT impossible to beat. Yes, the chores are repetive, but you have to keep in mind that the game is actually giving you something to do until you find all the secrets/hints/whatever in that level before you can move onto the next. Third, although the personalites dont vary, their speeds do. Alpha is slower and has less stamina than the others. As for the courses/competitions go, they seem fine to me. Once again, this game is more or less created for kids who DONT have horses. Therefor, they probabaly dont want to take the time to count strides, or figure out where they need to collect and extend to make the jump. Then, usually if you walk upto John and he says something stupid like "Have you thought about grooming?" it means your horse needs groomed. Hes giving you HINTS. Really the only thing I found disappointing is that you cant name the horses, but I'll live. In conclusion, I thinks its a pretty cool game. Not the most realistic, but it works. I dont think you'll be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Let's Ride the Rosemond Hill Collection Review: First we have been unable to access the Legacy of Rosemond Hill part of the game, the answer from Value Soft being useless. The Competitions part of the software features lousy graphics, soft focus, and so far we haven't run through a game as you can't read anything to set up your track. We have loaded it on an older laptop and now our newer desktop and this is the first software that hasn't worked on either computer.
The limited instructions given are useless at this point. I had purchased the other Let's Ride game for my daughter and it will be returned unopened. I really appreciate paying $25 for software that is this shoddy giving me the joys of a pouty kid who doesn't understand why the game isn't working well.
Rating: Summary: Worth ZERO stars! A complete money waster! Review: I decided to get this game because it looked like it would be entertaining for at least a short amount of time. I was wrong! I don't think I have ever found a worse way to spend 10 dollars. This game takes FOREVER to load, for one thing. At first I thought my computer had frozen, and I restarted it several times but finally just let it sit and it finally loaded. I was at first hopeful because of the nice introductory video clip, which has great animation, but was bitterly disappointed. The character is IMPOSSIBLE to control and she kept spinning in circles when I wanted her to go straight. The horses are very difficult to direct, as well, and on the jump courses they run around out of control and it is near impossible to get them straight enough long enough to take a fence. Navigation is near impossible. I kept getting lost in the stable and the pitiful wanna-be graphics are PREPOSTEROUS! Half of the time all of the colours would go white, making it VERY difficult to see ANYTHING, and I kept having to go back to the title page to get the graphics coloured again, so that I could see them. The game is RIDICULOUS. DO NOT buy it, I garuantee you will be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Let's Ride The Rosemond Hill Collection Review: I do not own the game, but, from what I have heard and from what it's description says, it sounds absolutely fabulous. I have it's earlier version- Let's Ride Horse and Pony- and it ia great. I highly recomend this product.
Rating: Summary: Not Reality Review: I exercise racehorses and from time to time take a month or two off to recoop. I bought this game because I missed the horses and wanted something to keep me occupied.
Considering the nature of most horse games in the past, this game has very good points and some not-so-good points. I think the technical information about the horses has been an issue with most horse people writing a review. The temperments are more of a "pretend" story than they are simulated. If these horses were real, this is what they would be like. But they are not real, they are digital recreations.
The chores are okay, except the order in which they are done boggles me. You don't even groom your horse (let alone bathe) after you ride! I was always taught to groom before and after you ride. The mucking gets annoying because the door to the manure pile is really narrow and it's hard to position Annie with the wheelbarrow to get them back in the stable.
I wish this game and the Let's Ride Championship Season could be combined. In this other game, the tack was actually kept in a tack room, you could custom-mix your feed, you gave the horse water, you needed a halter to take the horse to the cross-ties, you got to brush off "dirt" from your horse, and you tacked up bit by bit. However, the graphics of Championship Season were not the best, the jump course was lame, the dressage tests were laughable, and it didn't seem to matter whether you competed or not. I think if you could somehow combine the good points between these two games, you would come up with a pretty cool horse game.
But overall, Legacy of Rosemond Hill is not terrible and I would recommend it to someone who likes horses and wants to enjoy a digital reality. At least in this game you can't get thrown off or your horse run away with you! That would be realistic! One thing, I have not yet figured out how to get all 100 point thingies in the very last level before the championship. Note to all the frustrated players out there: you cannot get first place in stadium jumping without getting the 100 points and all the check marks of stuff you need to do. No matter how fast you jump the course, Melissa will always be faster if you do not.
The Competitions at Rosemond Hill I found very confusing and illogical. The flags on the jumps are sometimes on the wrong side, it's difficult to navigate through the courses (the paths are not clearly marked) and there is nothing to gain even if you do. You can't really design your own jump course, they give you a track and they let you pick out what jumps to put on it (I was hoping to design the landscape and the turns and jumps).
So, forgiving the technical fallicies, this game is pretty fun and may help if your having horse-withdrawal symptoms.
Rating: Summary: Not as bad as being noted Review: I felt I had to write to clarify errors in other reviews. A hand is 4 inches. This measurement is to the withers of the animal so 15.7 is an accurate size for a horse. The withers is the "hump" you see between the horse's back and neck. Don't judge the game by honest mistakes made by the inexperienced in their reviews. Just buy this game based on age and experience appropriateness.
Rating: Summary: Fun butt bad graphics Review: i got this game a while ago and when itry to play it the character, annie, just keeps walking in circles.when you try to ride the horse, alpha,he just runs and knocks down fences.you cant beat this game.the only good game is the diamond mystery.you get to be emma a newspaper reporter.you have to search for clues to find out who stole the diamonds.
Rating: Summary: Dunno Review: I have the other version of this game. I hope this one is better and more fun-not saying the other isnt. Let's Ride!-Horse and Pony is very cool. I hope this will be cool and different. I cant wait till it comes out!!
Rating: Summary: Okay.....Could've Been Better Review: I like this game. It's fun..... I mean, sure Steeple-chase is on a race-track, guys...NOT in the middle of the woods!
Okay, the Show-Jumping is fine...there are rarely hard obstacles, and it kind of gives you a challenge....
The Cross-Country....hmm....okay, I know A LOT about eventing, and the whole point of Cross-Country is that you and your horse jump over...let's say natural objects.
The horses are okay. You start off by riding Alpha...I'm telling you!! When you get the chance, try to get Cocktail or Barbie to try to beat Melissa's horse, Comet.
Horse-lovers??This is a MUST-BUY!!! Take it from me...I have every inch of my room covered in horses!!
