Rating: Summary: Great Game, Where's the rumble! Review: I bought the game with a Rumble pad expecting it to be like the console games, no rumble. I know its a gadget trick but it adds to the experience. My machine is slightly above Recomended. The game is choppy and sometimes crashes with a device driver failing and I have to reboot XP Pro. Online looks promising, but I don't like the idea of paying for it. I don't get the time to play to make it worth the cost. Game play is great, but kicking is almost impossible to get the timing right on a gamepad. Mouse and Keyboard give a first person view of the game, which is unique and takes time to get used to. No Play Editor and its got a console interface. Even if you change the mp3 directory they don't play during the game.
Update Got a faster PC, much better playing experience. Must have 1.13Mhz or faster PC.
Rating: Summary: OK Review: I first purchased the game soon after it was released and have ventured into my second year of a franchise as the Coach of the St. Louis Rams. Upon getting a DSL modem I saw the true potential of Madden 2003. Online gaming. For starters, you can play the mini camp games or 2 minute drills and see how your scores compare with everyone elses. Next, in what is a feat itself is the fact that you can either set up or join a NFL game and play another gamer for 4 five minute quarters of nail biting fun and it's nothing short of a football version of chess where you are trying to make your move. You are rewarded with "tokens" win or lose which are transferred to your online "sim" which starts off basic but then can be dressed as the ultimate fan. If you own a cable or DSL modem, you won't be disappointed. This is the icing on the cake!

Rating: Summary: Maddon NFL 2003 Review: I have a question for all the reviewers, professional and otherwise, how can you write a favorable review on a software program that I, like several other people I know, cannot get the game to install even on "state of the art" computers. Further and in my experience, EA as an organization, give only lip service to customer/tech support. The Madden franchise, in my opinion are poorly designed, faulty products. It should be avoided, no matter how much you love football, at all costs. Unless, of course, unable to install, constant crashes(Madden 2002), and failure to issue roster updates is your forteNote to PC sport games - Oh great Microsoft, have pity on the poor pc gamer and bring back NFL fever to us
Rating: Summary: The best graphical FB game for the PC and also the only one. Review: I have one word that describes Madden 2003, adequate. It works and has great graphics but still has many of the same flaws of previous versions. The running game still needs improvement, running up the middle is just a matter of hope and hitting buttons. I would like better touch passing, I either throw a bullet every time or lob it in there, I need something in between. I love the options they have for on-line play as well as the ability to create my own logos and helmets, the franchise mode is pretty decent. I like being able to concentrate my scouts on a few rookies but why can't I decide what drills they need to run in training camp to improve themselves. I've been looking for that option in this series from the old FPS: Football days. It is still lacking in the front office mode. Graphically it is exquisite, even running on my Radeon 7200 at 800x600, I have most everything set a max on my Athlon 900 system. I just wish the mechanics were more like the old NFL Fever PC game or the Sega NFL 2K console series. There just seems to be a better running and passing game in those systems. I like this game, I just wish EA would finally get it up to par with the console versions and really use the PC's ability to crunch numbers to make a more in-depth Franchise mode. I envision posting stats to web pages and exporting to a spreadsheet. There is no reason they cannot use the engine they have for Front Office Football for some of this now that they seemed to have killed that game.
Rating: Summary: The best Football game so far!!! Review: I have played nearly every football game on the market for playstion and playstation 2. This game is the most realistic thus far. The Franchise mode is awesome. You can progress with the same team and add and cut players for over 10 seasons. I think the limit is 15 or 25 or so, something like that. If you liked Madden 2002, you love this game even more. The graphics are better than 2002, and with this game you can through preseason and training camp to sharpen your skills on nearly every aspect of the game (defense, offence, kicking and punting, etc...). This game is great.
Rating: Summary: 4.5 Stars...very solid game with a few minor flaws Review: I have played three Madden games on the PC: 2000, 2002, and now this one. The previous two were horrible (as you can read my review of 2000 on this website) in every way except graphics. This game, however, has the intelligence to go along with the glitter. If you play this game on anything except rookie setting, you will be in for a war, and you will not be guarenteed of winning just because you're the human player. The AI in this game is the best of any football game on the market, and it offers a great way to challenge your playmaking abilities. Throw deep everytime and you'll be rewarded with batted balls and interceptions. No longer can you simply run the same crossing route over and over and score a TD on it everytime. If you call the same play over and over, the AI will take note of this, and it remembers you style as well, so you HAVE to mix your plays up and be somewhat unconventional. And that is what football is all about. Audio? Oh my goodness it rocks. It even comes with the 11 Audio MP3's on the CD so you can put them on your PC, burn them, or whatever. Now for the flaws: I believe there were 6 or 7 challenges in the NFL last year that were over-turned on the field (real life). In this game, the computer will use ALL their challenges in a game, 4 of them(usually), and, in the 2 weeks I've played, they've NEVER lost a challenge. They typically are used on fumbles. So if you're playing, and the computer fumbles, and you get it, chances are they will challenge and the refs will over-turn the call on the field. And usually, you really can't tell one way or the other because its too close, and in real life, you need conclusive evidence. In Madden 2003, tie goes to the runner. Another gripe that is very consistant with previous games is the amount of injuries. I know football is rough, and I know people get hurt a lot, but c'mon, every game I play usually 3 people get hurt. Most of the time, they come back later in the game or are just out for that game, but it is still annoying. At least it isn't like the 2000 game where, every time you'd simluate a game, 4-6 players would ALWAYS be injured for at last a month, usually longer. THAT was annoying. The interface is also cumbersome, and you'll spend some time trying to find what you're looking for, but its all there. And, you can't sort the league leaders stats beyond the first category. This is a bug that should be fixed when they release a patch. But all that is really minor compared to the gameplay, which is the best ever offered on a PC for football. The easiest difficulty is very very easy (I'm talking 49-7 easy playing on 5 minute quarters easy...), but increases radically thereafter. Go ahead and buy it. I'm not the biggest football fan and I LOVE it.
Rating: Summary: I haven't played offline because playing online is lotsa fun Review: I haven't played offline much because playing online is so much fun!! First of all; Even if you have 56K, you can actaully host! No cable? No problem! Then there's INSTANT REPLAY feature: Refs will get the calls correctly about 90% of the time and when they won't you get to challenge the play! Mellisa Starks does the sideline injury updates and play-by-play commentary with Al Michaels and John Madden is actually efficient! When you play online, sometimes they will give away your game plan to your opponent like "They've been running the ball all day, so defense should explect a rushing play by now." Online feature is fun because you have many different tournaments and quick games against real people. I am surprised that Amazon's price is so low on this because usually Madden titles go for $50 even after the "hot item stage." So trust me when I say, under $30 is well worth it! If you find it for less than that, then more power to ya!
Rating: Summary: the crowd's cheering is a big white wall........ Review: I havn't been a PC gamer long. I purchased Madden 2003 for Christmas and am trying to get used to the game. Pretty tough. But like all things, I'll eventually catch on. Graphics are great. Sound is pretty good. But its not fun playing in a giant white tent every single game. Thats my problem. I don't know if I forgot to press an option in the pre-game setup or what. But no matter what game or no matter who's playing who. Every single game is in a big white domish looking stadium. With 'zero ' seats. I repeat, 'zero' seats. Did I do something wrong? And why is there only four players on each team, on the sidelines. Where is EVERYONE????? Other than playing with no crowd and having no one to just look at on the sidelines. This game is pretty cool. Can someone please help me? write a review or something, please??? thanks......
Rating: Summary: An evolutionary leap compared to last year. Review: I rightfully lambasted last years Madden due to its woefully bad interface and team management options. So in fairness I'll laud this years iteration because it's, quite simply, the best football game ever made. The team management, playability, audio, and video are as close to perfect as I have ever encountered. While not as ground-breaking as Tecmo Super Bowl or Madden '95 it is the best. Kudos to EA Sports.
