Rating: Summary: A great Flight Simulator Review: Flight Simulator 98 is an awesome game. The airport/facility directory really helps. The chopper pads in New York really add to the Bell 206B, though it is sometimes difficult to control using buttons for a rudder. The scenery and planes are first class. Very Realistic!
Rating: Summary: The best Flight Simulator yet! Review: Flight Simulator 98 is one of the most real flight sim on the market. It is lacking of realistic ATC voices though. There are many add-ons like planes and scenery available over the internet. Overall, it is a good buy!
Rating: Summary: As Real As It Gets! Review: Hello, I have been an armchair (pc) pilot for many years now. Just recently I have been able to pursue my dream of really taking flying lessons. As a student pilot I feel qualified to say that Microsoft is right when they make the statement on the box that say's "It is as real as it gets!"
Rating: Summary: Very fun to play. Review: I don't think that this game is very educational, except that people might gain some knowledge (very little) about how to pilot something. Trust me, the first time I tried it, I was so bad that my plane crashed every time. However, I think that this is one of the best games you could buy; non-violent (except for maybe the planes crashing); fun.
Rating: Summary: Microsoft Flight Simulator 98/World of Flight 98 Review: I recieved this as a gift for Christmas a year ago. At the time, I really wasn't all that interested in flight simulator games, much less know how to fly a plane on a game. Within a couple of weeks, I was really mastering the game. I could do almost anything. The great thing abou this is that you can almost basically teach yourself how to do most anything on it, but you should still read the book about the game because it's really informative. I think that would make a perfect gift for anyone. I think that almost anyone is capable of having a great time doing this. The graphics are great for this. I definitely recommend this and the recently released 2000 version of this is probably just as good and maybe a little better than this.
Rating: Summary: This Is As Real As It Gets! Review: Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 is the #1 Flight Sim. Fly in models such as the Learjet 95 and the Boeing 747. Cessena flight models are the eaiser way to fly but if you want some challenge try the Boeing. When you crash it is kinda stupid. The plane sticks upright in the ground and then restarts in mid-air. I have played ALL of the Flight Simulators. Including FS2000 and FS2000 Professional Edition. These two simulators are too hard for a person that just wants to fly and have fun instead of searching through the manual and trying to start the plane for takeoff. Graphics 7/10 The graphics are OK. If you don't fly the already made flights you don't see buildings. Amount of Airports 10/10 Wow! There's whole bunches of airports. You can even fly in Egypt and fly right by the pyramids of Giza! Amount of Aircraft 4/10 You just have a little bit of planes to fly. You have about 6 planes you can fly compared to the 30 planes in FS2002. You can fly a helicopter if you want! FS98 was the first to star the helicopter. If combat sims your looking for look at AceCombat04: Shattered Skies! Happy flying!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: This flight simulator leaves much to be desired. If you're thinking of getting this, get Flight Unlimited II instead. If you got this already, pray you can exchange.
Rating: Summary: Great fun. Review: This is a great simulator, full of great pictures of popular places from around the world and choices of planes to fly. It just needs alittle fine tuning to make it five star
Rating: Summary: Great sim for sub-Celeron systems Review: This is probably the latest version in Microsoft's long running Flight Simulator series that you'll be able to run on a pre-Celeron system. As you'd expect, FS98 allows you to fly simulated hops from hundreds of airports all over the world, rely on navigation from hundreds of VOR transmitters and control towers, share the sky with hundreds of different aircraft, all in your choice of several different aircraft included with the program, and countless others available both in paid software and also downloadable 'freeware'. The program offers instant flight, flight adventures and training. The outside scenery looks inviting and realistic, but everybody's idea of what looks realistic changes every six to eight months. Let's face it, if your system was better, you'd probably be flying 'Flight Simulator 2002'. (I haven't flown any of MS's competitors, like 'X-Plane', 'Fly!' or 'Flight, Unlimited'). If you're dissatisfied with the aircraft included with the game (737, Learjet, sailplane or a Cessna Skyhawk) you can download add-on aircraft from countless websites (the aircraft models must be designed for versions no newer than FS98, or the first version of 'Combat Flight Simulator' aka CFS1; older aircraft files require a converter utility freely downloadable from just about anywhere; anything older than FS5 will be incompatible). The aircraft models are pretty ' with moving control surfaces and landing gear (remember the old days when wheels would just disappear when they were retracted, and we were happy that landing gear was visible at all?). This is actually a good buy if your computer is old ' my original system was a P200 with a Voodoo2 card. If you would rather blast away at air traffic than share the skies with them, you may prefer to get CFS, but you'd lose the training aspect that fleshes out the dynamics of flight (you may also need a better computer ' with CFS1 essentially unplayable until I upgraded to a Pentium IV). My personal favorite flight: gunning down between the buildings in Tokyo's colorful Ginza district, recreating the flying car chase from 'Attack of the Clones' ('who ya callin' 'Padwan?')
