Rating: Summary: Great Potential Review: Don't judge this Simulation by the version that you install "out of the box", for this is just a fraction of it's potential. Fighter Squadron really shines in one "streak of genius", commonly known as: Open Plane. With Open Plane it's possible to create new planes, modify flight characteristics, introduce new ground vehicles etc. Furthermore you can create your own custom skins for all planes available. Go here: fightersquadron to get an update on new planes etc, that other users have already completed. (amoungst these are several WWI planes!, the Fw-190D-9, Mosquito and even a Flying Cow! :) General Review: Many people name "European Air War" (EAW) as their favorite Flightsim. I have both Sims and favour "Fighter Squadron" (FS) in several aspects: 1.) Clouds: FS is the first(?) Sim to actually implement clouds realistically, speak: U can actually fly through them, hide in them - or lose sight of your bogie.. ;) 2.) Weather: EAW offers some nice settings, but only for the single missions - Why can't the "dusk or dawn" settings be used in the campaign? FS has beautiful weather settings throughout 3.) Terrain: EAW's vision of Europe seems to be of a flat countryside from Calais to Berlin, whereas FS has a more realistic "three dimensional" approach :) 4.) Cockpit Views: Ok, I must admit... I'm a so-called "hardcore" sim-pilot. When it comes to cockpits I want realistic views - not what EAW has to offer. In EAW there is no Cockpit Armor/Seat to block your 6 O'Clock view. Terrible! Why all the fuss you might think? Well think about it this way... You have a flightsim that lets you fly a collection of different planes, that all behave differently according to their flightmodel. This means every plane offers different advantages/drawbacks that effect your tactics. Well, dosen't the visibilty from within your cockpit have a great effect too? The Spitfire may be a great plane but the rear-view is rather bad compared to the Fw-190 for example. In short: FS wins by miles in this department.
Rating: Summary: Not Good Review: Don't waste your money on this game. European airwar is by far a more realistic game. The cockpits are not accurate and the is game is hard to play. The prop is way to small and looks stupid. The terrain looks good, but the gunnary looks stupid. This is one of the worste flight sims I have seen.

Rating: Summary: so much promised Review: I first found this sim on these pages, after reading the reviews I decided to purchase the program and eagerly awaited its arrival. It's been downhill eversince. I could not get the targeting to work and the toggle views were not fast enough for me to catch a glimpse of say an Me 262. I have tried a number of times to get activision to tell me what I needed to make this work , I own a new computer and I have enough memory and speed,it has been one month since I started to contact activision and their response so far is to download a driver that I already have. Now they suggest a new voodoo 3 but dont specify which voodoo 3 series. I am truly disapointed in the program and am sorry I purchased it.
Rating: Summary: Bomber Squad, Too! Review: I just wanted to say, you can fly bombers.
Rating: Summary: MOST EXCELLENT Review: This is one of the BEST Flight Sims in my collection. I enjoy being able to design my own planes and the SDOE community is most helpful with any questions. I give it a 3 thumbs up !
