Rating: Summary: Don't listen to amateur flight simmers... Review: ... this game is great. Contrary to what a lot of people on this site have said about jane's F-15, it is a great military flight sim. The flight model is acurately altered each time you jettison some of your stores, the avionics/radar/weapons systems are almost authentic and the missions are long and at times boring... just like they are in THE REAL WORLD. Hence the word "simulator", as opposed to game. I have news for people who complain about the stiff learning curve: it's not supposed to be easy to shoot down a plane or to bomb a bunker or plink a tank. If you want a worthy substitute that's more game than simulator, check out Jane's USAF
Rating: Summary: GREAT!! Review: Ahh, remember 1987, Reagan's second term, your first PC, Iraqui's were our friends, the Russians were not. Remember your first flight simulator games? It was probably Microporse's Strike Eagle, or Falcon by Spectrum Holobyte, or Sublogic Jet. Even the games that made these earlier ones obsolete have long ago been consigned to the dust heap of obsolescence. "Janes F-15" shows shy you'll never be able to fly your old legacy sims again. Though called "F-15", this game is actually dedicated to the F-15E made famous in desert storm. Unlike most F-15's which were designed primarily to fight other airplanes, and only secondarily strike ground targets, the F-15E was designed with strike in mind. It's heavier and less manueverable than other F-15's, and its weaponry and avionics were designed to isolate and identify ground targets like tanks and Scud missile launchers. So complicated are its missions, that the F-15E requires a crew of 2, the pilot and the weapons officer in the back. Managing the complex systems while dodging threats at 500 MPH is no small feat for even a well-trained crew of 2. While only a True Brother can say for certain how well Janes got the F-15E, it's so complicated that they can't be that far off the mark, with that airplane's complex systems intricately modeled. A point-and-click interface allows the player to scout around the plane's complex panel and flip switches ala iF-22, but you'll still have to navigate one Jane's trademarked manuals - an overstuffed reservoir of information that will still remain fresh when software makers release a game that makes F-15 look about as old as "Chuck Yeager's Air Combat". As one can expect, the learning curve is pretty murderous, with almost overwhelming threats, clouds of missiles and swarms of MiG fighters ready to open up a keg of whoopass. As a sim, "F-15" is truly king of its sky. On my P200 with a 12mb VoodooII board and 64mb of RAM, the graphics were acceptably smooth. Be aware though - unlike other Jane's sims (ATF, USNF or ATF) that were content to offer cartoon sims of major warplanes, "F-15" has the makings of a pretty intense and uncompromising simulation, even without the combat. Make hard and banking turns without compensating with added thrust, and the jet will drop altitude like a brick. Rolling the airplane at the low end of the energy curve will cause your wonder-jet to skid like a bald-tires on ice. This isn't 1992, when simulated jets merely stall - this baby will positively depart controlled flight if you don't treat her right. The game offers single missions, quick action, training and a campaign as well as an extensive on-line resource all built around a compelling sim. One criticism - if the plane is such a challenge to just fly (let alone fight) then makers of such realistic titles should make more of flight training, with cadets having to prove they've got more right to fly the vaunted jet in virtual skies than 39.95 will allow. If you've got something less than a Celeron processor, get this title.

Rating: Summary: Oh, well, it's only ten bucks Review: Im a FS freak. I own six of them(4 of them combat)and I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. First the good news. Its extremely cheap, and has a cool mission builder. The weapons are cool, too. Now the bad news. You only get 1 aircraft. The horizon fade out point is way too near. The damage stinks. The graphics are stone age. The campaigns are extremely hard and each mission lasts an hour without time compression. Your wingman are no help and blare out a cuss word each time you miss.
Rating: Summary: overall its a very good sim Review: Ive had this game for well over a year and Im still discovering new things about it. the graphics should be better but theyre not horrible, and gameplay to me is most important. I like the cockpit, guiding the bombs into their targets is great, and the mission builder is the best part of the game to me since it allow you to make your own missions, but I do wish I had more control over my wingmen during play. each waypoint should have its primary and secondary target for each plane but it allows only one target per plane. I wish ground vehicles could be setup to fire at specific targets too, and their waypoints are invisible, they should be visible like the aircraft waypoints, so make sure and mission label their position with a red . on the map or else you'll spend 20 minutes clicking the screen trying to find the waypoint to edit it. ofcourse like any game the bugs are frustrating, some things happen different than they should, such as ground FAC telling you enemy forces have withdrawn when theyre really closing in on them and are fixing to blow them up. for the most part the game play is very good and all the radio chatter between AWACS FAC JSTARS your wingmen and escorts as well as base tower keeps the game very interesting. I wish the ground steering was more realistic too, and some view bouncing during takeoff/landing would be nice too instead of the view staying the same like you weigh nothing. the jet noise could be more sophisiticated and there could be a sonic boom when you pass mach1 but theres nothing. my biggest complaint about the game is the menu is strictly navigated thru by mouse so if you spend alot of time on it you'll get carpel tunnel in your wrist and hand like I did. it should allow keyboard commands but it doesnt. the flight characteristic realism option isnt so realistic so I dont use it, its annoying and keeps the jet way slower than it should like youre towing a 747 behind you. overall Im glad I got this game though.
Rating: Summary: GREAT!! Review: This game is great. I myself have shot down over 100 planes using the AMRAAMS,sparrows, sidewinders and even a few by gun. I'm giving it a four because the radar is hard to use and when you use sidewinders you hear this warbling sound even if it is not locked on. For example I chased this mig 23 for 15 minutes and all I heard was eeeeeeeerrrrrrreeeeeerrrrrr. It is very annoying. But otherwise this a great game.
Rating: Summary: This game stinks..............BAD! Review: This game is hard to control, even when the controls are on casual setting. the crosshairs used to shoot move around when you are trying to shoot something. i have shot down one plane in the 2 weeks i've had it. i am thinking of purchasing another Jane's product but i'm not sure that i want to take the risk of not liking it!
Rating: Summary: This game stinks..............BAD! Review: This game isn't a lot of fun, the graphics are bad and the explosions aren't very good either. There isn't any selection of planes you can only fly an f15 and it's way to hard to control. The sound is low quality and the radar screech is horrific. There are a lot of better flight sims out there than F15.

Rating: Summary: Reliable and fun game for flight sim/battle fans Review: This little game is great for beginners who want to learn to fly one of the greatest USAF fighter two seaters since the Vietnam era F-4 phantom jet. Unfortunately, there was no book included when I purchased this game a year ago in 2000. That is what I came looking for today (the book) when I decided to write this review in conflict with a person who said in his review that the plane was too hard to fly. It's a cinch. My 11 year old can blow the enemy away and this is the only flight sim he plays.
