Summary: The Plumbing works..don't fix it !
Review: Although F/S 2000 has much improved graphics and sound, it is nowhere near as user-friendly as F/S 98. The flight options are much harder to access and even with allot of disc space, the program crashes quite often. I have yet to complete a flight. I have uninstalled F/S 2000. I will continue to use F/S 98 . I hope that Microsoft can work out the kinks in the program. It does seem like others have had these problems. If you are looking to purchase F/S 2000 be warned of these existing problems. It may be better to wait until M/S can modify the program, and rebates are offered.

Summary: one of the best games this year
Review: Flight Sim 2000 is a great game if you have a good computer. I currently have a 500mhz computer with the new 3d card and it runs great. The graphics are really good and the game is a lot of fun to play. i suggest buying this if you have a powerful computer.

Summary: The best flight simulator for the PC yet!
Review: Flight Simulator 2000 adds a new level of realism to an already stupendous game! There's just nothing like taking off in a Concorde at sunset in computer gaming - it's a truly unique experience. Panel detail is greatly improved from previous FS versions, and one of the coolest features is the online weather updating - you can fly through a thunderstorm that also exists in real-life. One word of caution, however; make sure you have a 3D accelerator and at least a Pentium II, or you won't experience the effects fully. (It will still be fun with older machines, but you won't get zippy 30 fps framerates and beautiful effects). A great gift for any airplane enthusiast!

Summary: Cool game but your alone.
Review: Flight simulator 2000 is a very detailed game. The only things I don't like about are,

You are alone in the air, Theirs Very rarely any air traffic, and if their is it's only a plane or two.

Also if you plan your own flight by wsing the flight planner mode, don't even bother going through all the trouble finding the right nav, com, and transponder code because it's no use. The radios don't work at all in flight plan mode.

Also, I strongly recommend getting a joystick if you decide to get this game. Knowing from my experiences it is very hard to fly a plane yust using the arrow keys.

Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty cool game if your into flight sims.

Summary: Verry Verry awesome!
Review: Flight Simulator 2000 is awesome. The graphics are much better and pannels are much more detailed. The only draw back is you need a top of the line graphics acclearator or graphics studder. Other than this I would recomend it.

Summary: The next best thing to real aviation
Review: FS2000 is a great flight simulation game for many reasons: First, you get to choose from a variety of 8 different aircrafts (from the Cessna 182 to the Concorde). Second, because if you want another aircraft, more scenery, different panels or anything else on FS2000, you can get it anywhere on the internet and install it to FS2000. Third, because if you have the proper accessories (such as a joystick), you can feel as if you were flying a real airplane (many pilots use FS2000 to train themselves).

Summary: Choppy, chunky, clunky
Review: Got this and the Sidewinder II force feedback stick for Christmas. I couldn't WAIT to play it, so I installed it on my mother-in-law's NEW Celeron machine right a way... BIG mistake! The box grossly understates the requirements, but it says "Pentium", and it MEANS "Pentium"! Don't even try on a fast (500 MHz) Celeron. At home, I installed on a 400 MHz PII, 128 MB ram, and set the visuals to a compromise point, so I could at least get 15 frames/sec.

I think they should have ditched some of the thousands of airstrips, and save the space for better terrain detail. Flying over flat, blocky, repeated aerial photos just isn't that exciting. Trying to please everyone in the world by putting in their local po-dunk airport has make the overall product suck. It is fun to fly out of your hometown once, but since there is a tremendous lack of detail, the novelty quickly fades.

The 3D buildings have poor detail, and dynamic scenery, like clouds, are always "popping" up in your face as the machine frantically tries to keep up. This creates a huge lack of details in the distance, and an unrealistic feel. It is much easier to fly at night, because the shimmery, blocky ground graphics do not distract you. Flying VFR (visual) should be easier, but the detail is so poor, you can't tell one road from another.

When you land, there is nowhere to really go, except up again. There is nothing to greet you at the airport terminal - not even traffic to avoid. If you can even find your way to the terminal, that is. Again, the ground detail makes it very difficult to see where you are going. The terminals are just static blocks. It would be fun to actually deliver your passengers to the gate, or something. It would be cool to have a "passenger meter", showing the discomfort of your passengers when you pull some serious negative G's in a 737. Some screams and cheers in the background would be appropriate, and would give some sense of accountability when you barrel roll through the Grand Canyon!

The force feedback to the SideWinder blows. It felt like I had a gator by the tail! I have flown planes before, and they do NOT fight you the way this game/stick combo does. Turn the force off, because it spends all its time trying to force itself back to center, using the FS2000 settings.

On the positive side, the flight models seem very accurate (if you don't use the force feedback stick!). This simulator would be somewhat valuable for pilots practicing IFR, navigation, and approaches to specific airports. The sound is very good, but gets crackly when the visuals drain your system resources.

When somebody builds a sim that I can look down and RECOGNIZE houses, streets, etc., I'll try this again. Otherwise, I'd stick to games/sims that rely on action and strategy, rather than realism, for their fun factor.

Summary: Absolutely Spiffing
Review: Hello, we are English folk, and have recently used FS2000. We are absolutely delighted with the detail given in the UK and Europe - but deeply saddened by the absence of London's new Millennium Dome, and the fact that at Denham aerodrome, you are placed on the default runway 15 - not used in earnest since the war!. Pip pip chaps - keep up the good interncontinental work.

Summary: THE BEST FLIGHT SIMULATOR EVER!
Review: I am very satisfied with this product. The grafics are awesomeand very real. When I tried the first time, I didn't get anything better than 5 frames/sec. But when I maximized at full screen and closed most of background programs, the result was great (20-30 frames/sec). I have even got 190 frames/sec. However, I have some recomendations to enhace your flying experience. Close background programs to free up memory. If you want to see airplanes' shadows, you will need to download the FS200 upgrade from Microsoft's website...this update is 7MB long. It will also make airplanes follow ILS approaches more precisely, as well as other necesary improvements. This game requires a powerful computer to work great. I've got an Athlon 700Mhz, 128RAM and a 16 MB Voodoo 3D video card.

Summary: Incredibly Useless
Review: I don'y know if you've ever paid almost 60 dollars for something you and up hating. Flight Simulator for windows 95 IS BETTER THAN the 2000 version. You can't even run it on a slow machine or in many regualar computers: you have to have a PENTIUM PC. Please reconsider if you're thinking about buying it. There are better simulators aut there.
