Summary: A fun game for everyone to enjoy!
Review: In Roller Coaster Tycoon you build a theme park. Sounds simple, right? Not quite! You have to have money to build things, but if you charge too much for admission, there go your customers! You'll get more rides and shops and things as times goes along, depending on how much money you spend on research. Then you've got to hire janitors to mow the grass and empty the trash cans and clean up the barf. Don't forget to add trash cans and benches, otherwise your customers will litter and throw up all over the place! You have to have all kinds of rides--too many slow rides and your customers get bored. Too many roller coasters and they get sick. If you make your roller coaster go too fast, it will fly off the track! With a bit of care and a lot of whimsy, you'll have a fun theme park! (A hint: keep playing even after you win the game. You'll get lots of cool new rides you hadn't seen before!)

All in all, Roller Coaster Tycoon is a fun, cheerful game good for hours of play! I highly recommend it to anyone who even remotely enjoys simulation games.

Summary: One Word: Addicting!
Review: This great game from Hasbro Interactive can be summed up in one word: addictive. Build you own theme parks. Build roller coasters, gentler rides, scenery, paths, and make money from your guests. Hear the people scream and laugh on the roller coasters. Uh...see the vomit on the ground after the ride.... Watch people eat and drink everything from popcorn to cotton candy to fries to drinks. Watch people pull out umbrellas when it rains or look at a map when they are lost. This game pays attention to many of people's needs and feelings. Each guest in your park has their own easy to use interface. They "tired" bar may slowly go down as they walk around the park, or the "bathroom" bar may quickly go down after a trip to the toilets. This game offers many gentle rides such as Go Karts, Bumper Cars, Boat Rides, Observation Towers, Swinging Ships, and more. The roller coasters also have a simple interface. It is very easy to build your own roller coasters. But will people like it? Is it too intense? Not exciting? Too high or a nausea rating? This is an extremely addictive game with the excitement of building a park to the small details. Yet, I do not feel this game deserves the 5 stars I gave it. It deserves a higher rating.

Summary: Amazing
Review: All I can say about this game is wow. I've been interested in roller coasters since I was five. Then, I saw this game in a book order at school and knew I had to have it. I got the game and was addicted right away. I couldn't stop playing it. I would get home from school at 2:00 and wouldn't stop playing 'till 10:00. My parents often had to shut the computer off. Other games became boring after one or two weeks. I still can't stop playing this game.

The game features 14 different types of roller coasters including wooden, steel, steel mini, suspended, and stand-up. It features lots of stands including ice cream, balloons, and drinks. There's also thrill rides, gentle rides, mild rides, transport rides, and water rides. Just designing roller coasters is just half the fun. You also get to design the park almost any way you want.

The point of the game is to get a certain amount of people in your park in a certain amount of time.

I have nothing bad to say about this game except there's no place to experiment building roller coasters outside the parks with an unlimited amout of money. But, if you wanted to buy a game, this would be it.

Summary: Top drawer Simulation
Review: After I started playing this game, I realized that I had a history of Simulation Addiction -- having played five or more simulations, including the recent hit "The Sims." Roller Coaster Tycoon is definitely one of the best sims out there (and there are many other theme park sims to choose from).

The interface takes a short time to get familiar with, but is very simple and easy to operate. The graphics are great (could you use this program to design a real rollercoaster? Looks like it to me!), the levels each have different goals and features. I especially appreciated all the different theme landscaping available, including Greek and Roman architecture, Wonderland theming (giant chess pieces, candy, mushrooms, etc), and Wild West props. The rollercoasters are a blast to build, but not simple to master. After 20+ rollercoasters, I have yet to build the perfect ride.

My only problem was with the 3/4 view -- at some points it's hard to see what's going on with your rollercoaster as it interacts with other rides and the landscaping. This problem was easy to solve, as the view options allow you to "turn off" the rollercoaster supports, landscaping, paths, or anything else that gets in your line of sight.

I heartily recommend this to any fan of simulation games in the vein of Sim City, Theme Hospital, or The Sims. This is a great game with a high addiction factor.

Summary: Nice game... but maybe TOO realistic!
Review: "Roller Coaster Tycoon" is a really fun game where kids can design their own amusement park complete with rides, food stalls, souvenier stands, and much more! You start off by choosing where you want your park to be. Some choices include Bumbly Beach, Forest Frontiers, Diamond Heights, Dynamite Dunes, and many more. (at the beginning you start off woth five choices for your amusement park setting) Each setting has a goal. For example, you may have to have 650 guests in your park by October, year 3, with a park rating of at least 600. You can name your park, charge admission fees, pick rides (as you progress more choices are available), put footpaths and sidewalks, hire staff, and put food stalls and rest rooms. But beware- you only start off with ten thousand dollars! To earn more money you need to depend on guests and profits from the food and rides! The more successful your park is, the more new rides and attractions are available for you! After you meet your goal, new scenery is available for your park. My only problem with the game is that it's WAY too realistic. One time one of my roller coasters actually crashed, causing deaths of everyone who was on the ride! Another time I built a ride over the water and forgot to put a path leading from the exit, so guests actually drowned! (stupid me!) Plus, your staff dosn't always listen to you. (Not to mention you need to pay them every month!) I once spent nearly an hour trying to get one of my mechanics to fix a ferris wheel! Overall, Roller Coaster Tycoon is a wonderful game, and very fun to play, but the realism is a little too real!

Summary: WARNING: This game is addictive
Review: RollerCoaster Tycoon combines the intricacy and strategy of computer sim games with the excitement of rollercoasters and amusement parks! This game allows you to build the theme park of your dreams, and a pretty darn realistic one at that. You can build a wide variety of different types of rollercoasters (wooden, steel, suspended, bobsled, crazy-rodent, etc.); choose from one of the several pre-made coasters, download new coasters from the web site, or design your own! The possibilities are endless! There are also several water rides such as log flumes and water slides, plus many other favorites ranging from the gentle ferris wheel and merry-go-round to the more thrilling swinging ship and motion simulator. But it's not all fun and games...you have to build a park that not only keeps your guests happy but also makes a profit. You can assess your guests' needs and demands so you can figure out what needs to be done. Adjust the prices of admission to your park and your rides. Build concession stands, restrooms, and information booths to meet your guests' needs. Hire handymen, mechanics, and security guards to help keep your park and your rides running smoothly. Deal with vandals, litter, and even vomit (your rides do have nausea ratings, you know). Start advertising campaigns to bring more people, and therefore more money, into your park. Add scenery such as bushes, trees, gardens, benches, and statues to make your park beautiful. The possibilities are endless. This game pays a lot of attention to detail and succeeds at bringing the complete theme park experience right to your PC. The Loopy Landscapes and Corkscrew Follies expansion packs bring you even more rides and scenarios to work with. We're talking hours and hours of fun here! The bottom line is, go get this game! But be warned: once you start playing, you won't want to stop. You'll find yourself spending hours on end in front of your computer playing this game, and when you're away at work or school, you'll be eager to get home so you can play it some more!

Summary: Very Good
Review: Although this may not be the best game ever, it is a fun experience that has endless hours of gameplay. It's a unique, fun, and unpredictable game that many people have played. The graphics might not be the best (they seriously don't have to be), and the sound may be odd sometimes, this makes a solid game that is fun.

Basically, in this game, you build your own theme park. There's tons of scenerios (especially if you buy the expansion pack) in which you make a part with different rides and things at your disposal on a different landscape. There are a lot of levels that are all different, and all have their own theme.

At the beginning of a level, you get a goal that you have to meet to beet the scenario. From there, you go building and creating rides, shops, eating stalls, and more. You can build all sorts of things: from water slides to roller coasters, from haunted houses to swinging ships. You can even build food places, drink stalls, a balloon shop, and information booth, and more. You can even build you own unique roller coaster, or download one off the internet (if you're not happy with the prebuilt ones in the game). This game is challenging, since you have to manage your park, while keeping a large amount of money.

Right now, you can get this game for about $2, so I'd buy this cheap, fun game.

Summary: VERY Addictive, VERY Fun, A Great Game!
Review: love this game. Buy it, but make sure you have a lot of free time set aside when you start to play it, because time will fly. This game is the most addictive game I've ever played, and I used to think I spent way too much time playing Sim City.

The game gives you several different scenarios in which you have to develop amusement parks that are profitable and attract guests. As you invest in R&D, more rides and food stands are available for you to use. Build your own coasters or use versions provided by the game. You also have to hire mechanics, handymen, security guards, and entertainers (people in panda bear, elephant, or tiger costumes).

The expansion pack is something you'll want to pick up as well, as it gives you access to more rides and scenarios. Creating new coasters and water slides is a blast, but so is the challenge of developing a profitable park!

Give it a try and pay the price! YOU WIL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Summary: The Best Computer Game in Years!
Review: If your looking for a non-violent (except for the puking), visually stunning, addictive, extremely fun and satisfying game, you have to buy RollerCoaster Tycoon. From the moment my friends and I took it out of the box, it has literally been played everyday since. Everyone that I introduce it too instantly loves it and gets so mad when someone else is on the computer and they can't play it! It really is alot like SimCity in it's approach, but then it has so much to offer, it makes SimCity quite boring. The graphics are great, the sound effects are very life-like and you really do get excited when you first open your custom-made park! To watch the guests arrive and have fun on the rides you've designed, adds more to the pleasure and excitement. For beginners it is a bit difficult and designing a roller-coaster from scratch is HARD, but once you get the hang of it, the fun is to see just how thrilling and scary a ride you can make. The game is packed with all sorts of extras, i.e. scenery, water fountains, shops and stalls, even a huge assortment of landscaping to make it picture perfect. You can't go wrong buying this. It is a blast! My friends and I thank Chris Sawyer for creating such a great game.
