Rating: Summary: Finally a good rts 4 star wars Review: The Good: In Galactic Battles, you have control over 6 civilations each with unique units(droid dekas, x-wings, at-at's, fambas, dark troopers, any hero you can think about etc.) The game uses the same engine as age of empiresII but is very unique. I personally like GB better because of the unique civilations, the many units, scenrio, and cool landscapes( hoth, yavin, tattoine etc.)This game is also 2 play online and has virtually unlimited playability. The bad: If you don't like star wars? Primarily when playing it the first time I thought " geese, haven't i played this somewhere before?"(AOEII)But it stands out alone. The ugly: Graphics, although not bad, are a bit outdated. If you look around basically every new rts game is in a 3d world. This game is very good and even if you dont like star wars you should give it a try. If you like first person shooters too try Star Wars: Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast
Rating: Summary: This Game was BORING!... Review: I played this game. I have played a few other RTS games and this one really does not compare. I thought it was very dumb. I mean come on how can an infantry droid shoot over a wall? The only plus to this game was that the campaigns had an ok story. For a multiplayer RTS try Total Annilation.
Rating: Summary: Lucasarts does it again Review: There is no doubt that Lucasarts has improved from its last attempt to make a R.T.S.(force commander..) This game has good graphics and addictive gameplay. The only drawback is that all the air units hover! But that's not a big deal at all. So if you like Age of Empires 2, then you'll definitely like this game especially if you're a die hard Star Wars fan.
Rating: Summary: It's Awesome Review: It's So cool. Wiping out the other force. Jedis are wicked awesome they can make soldiers on the other side come to your side. You can be 6 different six civilazations. Good graphics for a game of it's kind. It's Awesome.
Rating: Summary: Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Review: This game is sweet! You can be almost any civ. that you want to be. You get almost every vehicle as well. In fact I'm getting the expansion pack, which I heard was excellent. I heard it has two new civs., 14 new scenarios, 200 new units, and it updates the civs. from earlier (You know the ones without the expansion pack.
Rating: Summary: Old Generation Poo Poo Review: I never bought this, but did download the online demo. Was that supposed to impress me? ACK! I wouldn't pay good money for this game. Like the editorial review says, the graphics are Outdated (EXTREMELY) and flat. I expect more from RTS games these days with folks like westwood setting the bar. This looks like a game you might have considered playing five years ago. I guess if you are a hardcore fan you'll enjoy this, but I found the downsides to the game too much to consider shelling out any clams for the game. Gameplay is somewhat poor. Sounds quality is cheesy and sounds like it was lifted from a bad HBO copy of A New Hope. The box looks sharp, but don't let it fool you, it isn't worth your time. Try JK II; Outcast instead and wait till they decide to make a real Star Wars RTS.
Rating: Summary: Great Game! I Absolutely Love It! Review: Sure, the game is based on the Age of Kings engine developed by Ensemble Studios. In reality, this game is AOK in a Star Wars Universe. But you know what? AOK was a great game, and so is Galactic Battlegrounds. There are six civilizations to choose from and each civ has unique-looking units and buildings. The Campaigns and Scenarios that come with the game are excellant and very challenging, but the real game is playing someone either on-line or on a network. Nothing beats playing another person in a 1 vs. 1 game, or even teaming up with Allies in a 2 vs. 2 or 3 vs. 3 game. I am very much looking forward to the Expansion Pack that will feature updated graphics, new campaigns and new civs.
Rating: Summary: Great game! Review: This is a great game. There's so much to so. The scenario editor has tons of stuff. You know how on AoEII all the heroes (except Frankish Paladin, Master of the Templar, etc., which are made from a jousting unit that you can't get in the real game) are made from existing units? Well, on GB, the heroes are completely unique. They didn't take a Jedi Knight unit and call it Ob-Wan Kenobi. They created a new, slightly different unit for him. They didn't take a Rebellion worker (an R2 unit) and call it R2-D2. He gets his own unit. And you know how on AoEII: The Conquerors you can play Standard Games on Real World maps? On GB, you can play on Star Wars locales, ranging from Hoth, which has wampas, and Tatooine, which as gaia sandcrawlers, Sand People, and Jawas, to Yavin IV, which has Massassi temples strewn around, and Naboo, which has Gungan giant stone heads and LOTS of animals. Which brings me to something else. On AoEII, there are wolves, sheep, boars, fish, hawks, and deer. (Conquerors gives you jaguars, turkeys, and javelinas.) GB has rontos, dewbacks, mynocks, cu-pas, banthas, nerfs, wampas, fambaa, falumpasets, kaadu, tusk-cats, rancors, gundarks, eopies . . . the list goes on. Plus PLENTY of fish (which includes Colo Claw Fish and Opee Sea Killers, which rise out of the sea to attack your ships). According to popular myth about this game, you can't get A-wings, B-wings, or the Millennium Falcon. This only partially true. You can't get B-wings, but the scenario editor CAN get you A-wings and the Falcon. Other things the scenario editor can get you are Ewoks (Wicket, Chirpa, and Logray, plus normal Ewoks, Ewok gliders, two kinds of Ewok houses, and an Ewok catapult), Trandoshans (slavers, jailers, Bossk, the Hound's Tooth [Bossk's ship], and two Trandoshan buildings), every hero from Boba Fett to Anakin Skywalker to Captain Panaka to Yoda, and buildings from Yoda's hovel to the landing platform on Endor the landed Sith Infiltrator, ships from the Queen's Starship to Vader's Advanced X1 Tie Fighter, and limitless triggers. The civs are cool. My favorite are the Rebels and the TradeFed. The Gungans get Fambaa shield generators, which rock. The Empire gets AT-AT's, which also rock. The Wookies are okay, though they are not my favorite civ. The Naboo have great starships. Units are awesome - there are most untis from the movies there. Assault Mechs - which are AT-AT's, MTT's, Juggernauts, or whatever, depending on your civ - can carry 10 units inside. This is great when you're the TradeFed, and can load battle droids in your MTT. Some of the cooler units are Tie Interceptors, TradeFed AAT's, X-wings, Rebel scouts (swoop bikes), and Naboo N-1 starfighters. I have a FEW minor complaints: there are no capital ships, like Star Destroyers or Droid Control Ships; and some of the heroes' voices are not the voices from the movies. Also, the cheat codes are irritating. The few complaints notwithstanding, this is a great game. I await its expansion, Clone Campaigns, in May.
Rating: Summary: another disapointment Review: I love the Star Wars games, I have almost all of them (excluding the elusive Rebellion) and from games like X-wing I've not to expect quite a lot. Unfortunately the latest load haven't been... well, good. They haven't been [bad], but they fail in comparison. I think it all started with X-wing Vs. Tie Fighter, story is obviously no longer present and voice acting [is not good]. This game is slow and boring, just like Age of Empires, of course if you like the mass unit no strategy, takes three hours to win kind of game, then you will love this.
Rating: Summary: SLOW GAME Review: I was hoping this game....even though it is on the same engine as Age Of Empires 2.....would pull away from how slow and long AoE2 is. But no. Average game is like 45mins. I am more of a Star Craft player where you can beat someone in like 15mins....20 on avarage. Sure some game last an hour or 2 in SC but not ALL of them. I waited and waited for this game and even bought it somewhere in it's 1st month of shelf like.....disappointment.
