Summary: NOT for the tech-minded Trek fan!!
Review: ... Luckily, the day before the game arrived to my house, a friend showed his copy to me, and I was shocked. I dare say I've not seen a worse game--ever. One does not create a ship; one selects different variations to existing models. Indeed, the variations are poor AND the same for each ship model, and all of them are a snooze-fest. I had hoped to create a ship might take hours, if not days; instead, it takes five minutes to scan through the steps. Avoid this game at all costs--even if it is free!

Summary: A must for starship lovers!
Review: Although this game is advertised as a sequel to the original Starship Creator, it's more of a second expansion pack. Even though it's true that this game doesn't have any cool starship action like the Armada games, it does require a different kind of strategy on the gamer's part. The object of the game is to build the best ship possible, and send the right ship on the right mission. Before you get this game however, I strongly suggest that you buy the original and the add-on pack, or the Deluxe Starship Creator which includes both. You will be able to copy ship classes from those games onto Warp 2, therefore making Warp 2 more enjoyable.

The updates included in this game make it better than its predecessors. New features include the ability to import a picture of yourself in a Starfleet uniform, sending two ships out at a time and giving them seperate tasks, and many new missions just to name a few.

In addition to the updates, the game itself is easier to work with. Creating your own missions no longer requires one to be a computer programmer since Warp 2 comes with a Mission Creator program. It's also easier to add crewmembers to the game.

This game is ideal for Trek fans that like the designs of the ships used on the shows and movies, and like designing their own. Warp 2 has seven classes to choose from, but can have up to eleven if one updates it. Although some may complain about the relative uneventfulness of the missions, the whole point of playing this game is designing your very own fleet and outfitting your ships with the most advanced systems possible. If that's something you've always wanted to do in a game, and you don't mind slow missions, I recommend this.

Summary: A true adventurer's dream...
Review: Being a big fan of Star Trek from age eight on...it was a pleasant thrill to be able to get a game that allowed the creation of your own starships. It keeps me entertained for hours on end, and it is great fun for a storyteller to be able to put together your own crews (This program works great with the ST:TNG Roleplaying Game). I can use it for computer interfacing...deck plans..you name it. Enjoy the program not because it's exciting or adventurous...enjoy it for the way it involves your imagination.

Review: Considering how bad the first one was I didn't expect its sequel to be any different. It wasn't combines the worst of all worlds, chessy soudtrack, chessy graphics and a missions operations manual that defifes all logic and reason.

Summary: Warp 2 Fails to Meet Expectations
Review: For those of us used to the high-tech graphics of Blizzard Games or those of us who are die-hard Trek fans, Starship Creator Warp 2 leaves us wanting for more. True, it's pretty cool to customize your own starship and then run it on various missions to "take it for a spin", but the starship choices leave much to be desired. What about the Miranda, Orbeth, Nova, or Nebula Class starships, or any interesting Klingon ships? The strategy guide is a POSTER that only tells you the very basics in Starship and Mission creation and the website is completely useless. So unless you plan on using this program to augment your Dominion Wars game, I would not recomend it to anyone.

Review: How bad is it? Where do I even START! Low resolution, 2D graphics, and cheezy sound effects lead into ZERO interactivity on "game play." Spend an eternity simply watching your tiny, 2D ship, and reading Star Trek cliche's in text format. No improvement from the original, with no documentation---their Website's even offline! At best, a tiny (50% of my screen) screensaver, for fans of Next Generation's computer interfaces only. Don't waste your time.

Summary: a nice companion
Review: I find this product doesn`t make as much a game as it makes a companion. I have it running on my PowerBook when I am on the move and on either my Windows mashine or Mac at home depending which one I use for "real" work (usually I use the mac for real work for reasons only the mac user understands) It takes only a few minutes to set the gameplay up and then I just let it run. It can take some hours and sometimes it takes even a day for them to complete a mission so its more like this aquarium you can watch the fishe swim in while you do your work ;-) I must say that I compliment Simon and Shuster especially for releasing it on BOTH Mac and Windows. It's also nice to be able to use the SAME product on both platform (it's a hybrid CD) great fun!
