Summary: What a waste
Review: This is the worst war game ever.
"War" for the Atari 2600 was better.
Don't waste your money.
I have to give it one star. But zero would be a better rating.

Summary: Don't Bother
Review: This may be the best game in the world but I wouldn't know. The game would not run on my system (P4 1.7 with 64MB video card and 256MB memory on Window Me) and after contacting tech support via email, I got one suggestion (which didn't work) After that, I have been ignored by their tech support. Take your chances with this one. If it doesn't work properly, you are on your own. Don't count on their tech support!

Summary: AWFUL
Review: This would have been a great game, if it had been published in 1997. There is nothing to differentiate Real War from every real time title published in the last 4 years, except perhaps laughable pathfinding and truly witless gameplay. This game is so bad its almost a parody of real time strategy games. Avoid this turkey like leprosy and save your cash for something better. I wish I had.

Summary: this is a pretty good game
Review: well, this is a good game with its pros and cons. First off, the graphics are great. the detail of the maps are awesome(especially the jungle). the units do what theyre really supposed to do, like the jets and bombers actually taking off on the runway. the bad part of this game is that the units are just total morons. Even if there is a clear path for a tank it just stops and you have to guide it thru. That gets me very mad. another thing, you can have like 5 guided anti air vehicles while a carpet bomber flies overhead-you would think they would fire at it but they're just too stupid to fire at it. the hovercraft transports( while ur loading them) could have a tank thats right next to it while loading and the trans will pull off the shore, go somewhere else, and unload its cargo. The only units I found to be smart were the planes. You never have to worry about money because you build supply depots that can (if u upgrade them) be supplied almost constantly. But even thru all of this, the game is vedry fun.

Summary: Not challenging once you know the controls
Review: Well, where do I begin? The opening movie is first rate and actually have my family and I goosebumps. My first skirmish went terrible because I did not have the units, buildings, or controls down. However, once I understood how to win, the game became incredibly easy. I must agree that there is very little strategy. When creators of games such as these say "strategy," I assume you will be battling against some brilliant recreation of Napoleon or General Lee. The secret to this game seems to have a significant anti-air weapons for defensive purposes and a large tank force for offensive purposes. I found Naval battles boring and the Air battles even more so. It is the ground war that truly makes this game. The Air Force should only be called in, it seems, once all of the anti-aircraft weaponry is destroyed. The Tactical nukes were somewhat of a disappointment--they are shot down VERY easily and cause heavy yet extremely localized effects. The skirmiches, I believe, are far more difficult than the actual missions. However, I will continue to play this game because despite some disappointments, it is still better than most.

Summary: Don't even bother!
Review: Whatever you do, leave this game alone. supposedly based off the U.S.'s military strategy sim, this game is awful. Units don't behave accurately (i.e. rifleman taking out tanks with their assault rifles), A.I. pathfinding is horrendous, and the game is filled with bugs, from simple sound loops to full blown system crashes. Real War's only saving grace is the cameos from Lee Ermie and the resource gathering system. Real War is nothing like real war, and is a waste of money.
