Summary: Could be a good game
Review: I've been playing PC games for over ten years, and have overcome countless problems to get them to work..... but I've never encountered anything as frustrating as this game! I've followed all the tech help, checked drivers, closed down all background programs, etc etc. yet the game is incredibly unstable. Random exits, crashing when saving or loading, any of the most annoying things you can imagine happen in this game. I have many games, recent and old, on my hard drive and none make problems for me.

All this wouldn't be enough for a bad review had not about half the people I've talked to about this game have the same problems.

As for the game..... seems good even though I keep playing the same bits over and over, but it all means nothing if it doesn't work.

What on earth were they doing for three years?

Summary: Absolutely Amazing Game
Review: In my opinion, this game is a complete success. It has very innovative gameplay, great graphics, and its very stable. I think this is one of the best games that has come out in years, and its nice to have a strategy game with good graphics for a change; most games with graphics like this are first person shooters. B&W has a very steep learning curve, but once youve learned it, there is a huge amount of stuff you can do. The artificial intelligence used for the creature is what all artificial intelligence in games for the next few years will be measured against. For anyone looking to play a game that is truly original and innovative, I would recommend Black & White.

Summary: Highly original...and highly annoying
Review: This game has tons of original ideas, and it's definately unlike anything you've ever played before...but I got annoyed and bored with it after about 6 hours. You have to wonder just how bad the voices were before the game was delayed to have them re-recorded. The repetitive screaming of the villagers, and the cutesy-pie voices of the conscience-characters, combined with the extremely annoying movement interface (a simple mouse-look would have been so much nicer,) left me kind of dissapointed. While the game never lacks for content, the repetitive "follow-me" games and "find this object" games began to wear the nerves quickly as well. Based on the hype, I also expected the game to be less linear. On the plus side, this is unquestionably an historic and unique achievement in gaming, with utterly amazing AI (in regards to the creature), but I'll be waiting for the --hopefully-- more refined sequel.

Summary: One word "WOW"
Review: I have been playing games for a long time and no game has ever made a bigger impact on me as much as this one did. The graphics are so superb that, sometimes your eyes just get lost in there beautiful detail. The gameplay is also great. You can use the mouse to do everything, YES I SAID EVERYTHING. Also the game is so addicting, i mean i barely had time to write this review, because i have been glood to my computer screen. The game does has some high requirements, but if you have a powerful computer, you will love this game, I GUARRANTEE IT. The AI in Black in White frightens me. You can train you animal to do whatever you want. You can make him love to eat grain or people. You can train him to strike lightnings bolts. You do this, by petting him or hitting him after every action that he does. Well if you love PC games with great graphics, sound, gameplaye, and addictiveness, then you have got to get BLACK AND WHITE.....

By the way it is my favorite PC game of all time

Summary: Black and White - Best Game ever?
Review: It certainly gets my votes for it. As some have said prepare to become a social outcast (if you are already not, good job) as this game will dominate your life for the rest of this, and maybe next year.

Summary: BUY IT NOW!
Review: I've been following this game since it was first revealed, and let me tell you:

It is close to, if not, the BEST GAME OF ALL TIME! ... ANYONE will enjoy this game, even if you don't play games normally. The game runs smoothly and looks beautiful, and is incredible fun. The creature that you raise is incredibly intelligent. As an example:

I told my creature to play a boulder-toss game with another creature. I didn't tell it ANYTHING beyond that, but when my creature started to lose, he got annoyed and heated up one of the rocks in the throwing pile of the other creature while it wasn't working, and laughed and teased the other creature once it got burned by the boulder. I didn't tell the creature to play a trick or ANYTHING, yet it did this on its own! It learns just like a child does as it sees things being done and does things. You reprimand or encourage your creature by petting it, slapping it, or even BEATING it. Buy this game or you will be incredibly sorry, trust me and about one million other reviews/sites!

Summary: Simply amazing!
Review: I remember reading about Black and White a few months ago, and saying, "That will take another two years to make!" because of all of it's innovations. Well, imagine my suprise when I saw it sitting on my store's shelf! I snagged a copy and popped it into the computer...

The storyline in a nutshell is that you play a god, and you have to make the people in each land believe in you. You have miracles to help you, along with a pet animal that helps you accomplish this.

Graphically, this thing is AMAZING. There is day and night, weather effects, spell effects, sprawling landscapes, and of course, your pet. Every detail is represented beautifully. And if you register the game (if the process ever works out as of 3/31/01 with the website), the weather conditions actually coincide with your current weather in real life! In fact, you can even let the game use Outlook Express to name the inhabitants of your land.

As for the sound of the game, it is of course top notch. From the sounds of the inhabitants screaming as you pick them up and fling them into the air to the <BOOM> <BOOM> of your full sized-pet walking around, each sound is captured accurately.

But what about the creature itself? Imagine an incredibly complex Tamagachi. From the start, it is small and doesn't know a whole lot about the world, but if you teach it how to do tasks by your example, your pet will learn them. When your pet does something you like, rub it's stomach to tell him that you like what he is doing, or if it does something you don't like, slap it to let him know that he shouldn't do that! After a while, you can go off and do other things, and not have to worry about your pet because it will eventually be able to take care of itself. It will also eventually grow to titanic proportions. The way the pet's learning is handled is simply amazing. And if you want, you can put your pet on the Internet and have everyone see it.

Black and White is one of those rare games that makes you spend days in front of the computer, stopping only to eat and use the bathroom, and sometimes you may not even do that! Bear in mind that you have to spend a LOT of time taking care of your pet, because depending on how you feed or teach it, and the creature that you choose, it may take from twenty to forty hours for your pet to grow to full maturity!! Once you're done, of course, you can go on and compete in multiplayer. This game is set to become one of the greatest games of all time.

Say goodbye to your social life!

Summary: An Epiphany of Games
Review: Black and White has been in development for several years, and after playing Black and White- it shows. Every second that I have played of this game reaks of someone's hard work and dedication. Little touches, big touches- the entire game is designed to be fun... and boy, is it successful. Black and White allows you, the player, to take over the role of a god. From there, you are placed in a world where its fate is up to you. The game is all controlled through a 3D hand, directed and aimed with the mouse. Using this hand, you can do just about anything: pick up people and place them to do certain tasks, move your creature around the world, pick up rocks and trees, throw rocks and trees (at people!) and cast wonderous miracles to aid you. Though I don't want to give away too much, there is much to do this game. Never at any point will the player ever become bored with the game, as there is much to do at any given point. I'll leave you with us: Black and White is a game that all PC gamers must try.
