Summary: Good, but nothing spectacular
Review: The Sims' House Party Expansion Pack is a good investment if you really like The Sims for what it is and are not expecting any big expansions of game play. What you do get are some interesting party motifs (Tikki, Country-Western, Rave) a couple of new items and some more group interaction.

Pros: Parties are easier to throw with the mass invite option. It's much more time-efficient than calling up each individual person, or even using the party balloons. Several items, like the campfire and bubble machine allow for more group interaction, making maintaining social relationships easier. They also provide some interesting sound files featuring more SimSpeak (the nonsensical language your Sims speak) and SimSinging around the campfire. Some practical additions object-wise (like smaller dining room tables for instance, which can replace the behemoths the first pack provided) also are welcome additions.

Cons: as other reviewers said, the game is a little buggy. My game crashes every so often now, even though it never crashed before with the original or the Livin' Large expansion pack. It doesn't run quite as smoothly as one would like. I did take care to prepare my computer thoroughly (running scandisk and defrag) before installing, but I'm still having problems.

Sim fans will want this game for the new objects and actions, but those who are not nuts about The Sims should not expect this game to provide anything to up their enthusiasm.

Summary: I understand why this wasn't THE BEST!!
Review: I have all of the sims expansion packets. I got this one recently. If you were wondering why their is no town, it's becuase towns were not invented intill Hot Date. The Throw a party funcition is o.k., but I can make a party without this function. If I were you, and I didn't have The Sims, Sims Deluxe, go and buy Double Deluxe!! It has house party in it. Over all I guess this game was o.k., but the others ones are tottaly better!!

Summary: Adds more to later expansions...
Review: The Sims House Party was originally created with the purpose of making social interaction easier, however what it failed to do was add lots of new social points interactions, and mainly focused on giving you new objects where you can have more then one sim involved.

There are three main themes that are included in both the objects and decor. First the tiki theme, which is really well detailed and comes in handy later iwth Hot Date and Vacation when building swim shops and Island retreats. Then we have the country theme, with a mechanical bull, western bar, and campfire to tell spooky stories or have a sing along. Finally there is the industrial/rave theme, with inflatable couches, a really cool bar, and the best set of objects from this expansion pack; the dj booth, dance floor, and dance cages, which reallllly are great for other expansions in the future.

There are a few other cool options with this game, including the "Throw Party" option with the phone, and the caterer who can show up and fill up your buffet table and punch bowl for when you have guests. The costume trunk is also pretty cool when you want to have theme parties. While the game does have a lot of neat new objects, it isn't the best one out there, but a definite plus to have to expand other areas (like downtown, vacation, old town) because the objects are some of the most fun!

Summary: Have a Star drop by, or the Dreaded Mime
Review: House Party is probably the second best of the Sims add-ons behind Livin' Large. The party idea is a good concept that provides a chance for your Sims to invite everyone in the neighborhood over for a toga or formal party, or even just a turkey dinner.

Some of the things in the add-on pack are weird, like the Mechanical Bull, the campfire, the costume trunk and the parlor game. They all seem to give your Sims great fun though, and the parlor game is good for speaking skills. The costume trunk can help liven up parties and prevent the dreaded Mime from showing up. There's even people to pop out of huge cakes, caterers, and food items that can be purchased with a party in mind.

The biggest drawback to this add-on is if you have the Livin' Large add-on the load time is increased. If you're running a fast system, 1.5GHz or higher you probably won't notice a big slow down, but it did slow down my 1GHz machine. If you have Hot Date as well the load time is really long.

Summary: Getting Down Tonight!
Review: They have been living the high life, and House Party Expansion Pack makes Sims live much HIGHER! This is the second expansion pack to the hit game The Sims, and boy is it fun! The whole concept of this expansion is to have a bash ! There are many new sets to choose from. Have an country hoedown, boogie the night away, or swing beach style. New objects will make your party and just simple living greater. A new feature is something you will have fun with: a teleporter! For the party, new items include mechanical bulls, DJ booths which you can actually DJ, light-up dance floors, campfires, cake dancers, and much more! Every party needs to be fashionable, so you can dress up in disco, clubwear, formalwear, beach, costumes, and much more! The NPCs (non-playable characters) can tell you just how good your party is. The mime comes if you are having a BORING time. If your party is great, there is always somebody trying to crash it. For that, there are teenage party crashers. If you are really swinging, a special mystery celebrity will arrive! The male and female cake dancers can really put on a show for you. There is the Campfire Ghost, who will scare your Sims away if a Sim tells a really scary story! If you fancy true dining, you can hire a caterer to cater your buffet table and punch bowl. You probably have always wanted to make seperate bathrooms, so now there are male and female doors, along with stalls and urnials.

So buy this game some time right, and then you can party away the whole night! WAHOO!

Summary: Not Quite As Good as Livin' Large
Review: Although House Party is another great expansion and must-have for your collection, it is not quite as amazing as Livin' Large. This doesn't mean that you should purchase LL instead of House Party, I'm just saying don't expect to be spellbound. HP adds, as always, over 150 new objects including the Kamprite Campfire (a great group activity), light up dance floor, and bubble blower (also for up to four Sims). As the second expansion pack for "The Sims", HP now allows you to invite over more than one person ina single telephone call. The option "Throw Party" is now available in the telephone pie menu. In addtion to party and group items, the HP expansion pack also adds three new themes; Rave, Luau, and Cowboy, which include a mechanical bull, dance cages, and Palm Tree wallpaper. For the collecter or PC game player, House Party is an excellent addition to "The Sims", but I suggest purchasing the game after you have purchases "Livin Large" as well.

Summary: UNBELIEVABLE
Review: I Just got this game the other day and wow! Its amazing! With the DJ's, camp fire ghost, exotic dancers, and check this out DREW CAREY! Also i've heard that if your party is horrible the Tragic Mime comes to try to get things going. Oh and also there's the party caterer. He's a funny guy. He tries on the costumes from the costume trunk. He cleans up, talk with the guests and even dances.

This game is a must have. If i knew this game was as good as it is i wouldv'e paid 40-50 dollars for it. Livin' Large was an absolutily great game. That added more skins and more neighborhoods which I thought was great. I always had trouble with a Sim living alone not having any social life. But with House Party he does whatever a Party Loving American would do. Take a day off from work have a party from 6:00 A.M until 3:00 A.M. Of course my Sim is a party machine. He's probably fallin' off the mechanical bull so many times i'm surprised he hasn't broken an arm. Except for one occasion my Sim hasn't been too bad. But one time he had a little too much to drink and passed out on the dance floor and forgot to wake up for work and got fired. But that was awile ago.

If you want to have a good enough party to make Drew Carey come I'd recommend knowing everyone in the neighborhood. Also have a Caterer, a DJ, a "surprise cake" with the exotic dancer. Also have a comstume trunk. The good thing about that is that only one person has to change into a costume and everyone changes.

Also its much easier to throw a party. Instead of calling each person you know (which is very boring) you can just hit the option "Throw a party"

Again this game is a must have. I don't think I waisted any money and if you like The Sims and Livin' Large you'll love this!

Summary: Out of all the expansion packs..
Review: This was definitely my favorite. It adds the ability to throw a party, without compromising the integrity of the game, which the other expansion packs do, by unnescesarily cluttering up the game. House party introduced a "Funkier" look to the Sims, adding all sorts of objects that were bright vibrant colors. It also introduced body models that could have blue hair. The party option was definitely the most fun. If you don't have this pack yet, I would recommend getting it, but keep in mind, the more evolved Sims 2 is coming out this year. I wouldn't buy the other packs with that in mind.
