Summary: Could use some spice
Review: This game is an allright game. If you are into the heavy bombing and missle game, do not get this one. The graphics are cool, but trying to control the plane, and getting used to the armaments is fairly tough. If you are into old WWII style simulations this game is definetly for you.

Summary: Total Domination
Review: What can i say other than this game takes it all. This game totally dominates the combat flight simulators of this world. I own the first WW2 Combat Flight Simulator also by Microsoft and i was greatly empressed with it, and at it's reality and everything, and really didn't know how it would get any more real than that was. Well it has and it's right there for you to own, and i believe it's worth every penny too! If you have any extra cash and a good machine to run it on, all i can say is buy it. I have a P3 800 with 128megs of RAM and it runs good except once in a great while one frame will stick or something, but that's definitely not a problem. If you have an awesome sound card and good speakers you will feel as if you are in the seat of the plane you are flying and you're actually getting shot at by the enemy. Oh the feeling, when i popped that game in for the first time and started playing it felt as if i went back into time and was actually up there flying, specially when i entered the heat of the battle. The sounds of bullets flying around you from the AA guns or the plane that is unfortunately glued to your tail, the sound of your own gun pumping out lead, and of course the flack ripping you aircraft to shreds. Whoever did the sound on that game should win a grammy! The sound just is amazing. The graphics are just as much so amazing and even maybe a little more. It's awesome the scenery the planes zooming out of nowhere and their engine blasting you away as they roar by! The flak blowing up in your face(if you've ever seen Pearl Harbor, the flak looks just like it duz in that movie, as well as the planes and tracers and everything else, such as the combat over open seas and your bullets shooting up spray in the ocean as you try to hit you oppenent out of the air! If that gives you any clue)It's just like life and i'm sure that anyone that flew in a fighter during WW2 would have to agree. It's just about as real as it gets and better. So buy it while you can, and remember it's definitely worth it. But i'm going for now as i am already having withdrawals!

Summary: Combat Flight Simulator 2 Recommended
Review: This game is magnificent. Graphics are execellent. Became very addicted to the game. I only wished that the Dauntless Torpedo bomber was also included in the aircraft inventory, and more missions were available (not the standard 30). Even though I am a Brit, I found the manual full of interesting American military/air history. Recommend it.

Summary: Very disappointed
Review: Trully the worst game in my collection. I was so pleased with combat flight simulator, I couldn't wait for CFS II, boy was I disappointed. To play I have to completely reinstall every time, otherwise I get a loading sign and nothing ever happens or it tells me to insert disk which is already inserted. When it does run the graphics are terrible. I have spent about the same amount of money with calls to Microsoft Tech Support as the game cost. I have dozens of games of ever kind (eleven fighter games) and never had any problems except with this one. I would like to get B-17 but after this piece of junk I am leary.

Summary: Melee based flight sim with a twist
Review: I first played this game at the Microsoft store at the Metreon in San Francisco, CA. I had about an hour before an appointment down the street, so I stopped into the store, saw the game, and began playing. Then after the meeting I returned for more (in a deluge nonetheless). Straight and simple - this game rocks!

This game goes far beyond a basic flight sim. There's still instruments and reality-based flying, don't get me wrong. But the planes in WWII were no where near as responsive as an F16. And that's what gives the game it's twist. You wanna bank bank right? Go for it - but don't forget that you're gonna lose airspeed and altitude, and there ain't no afterburner, HUD, or missle lock to save your butt when you stall out.

Another cool thing is that you don't just get blown away by a missle and die. You can quite realistically take on damage, but bullets only hit certain parts of your aircraft, so your plane can keep flying. And what's great about this game is that when there's a few holes in my wings, the plane will favor certain aerodynamics, and fly crippled. I've been able to finish missions while only being able to turn left - and that degree of realism deserves award recognition.

The only catch is that it will only play with the CD in the drive. This seems to be a big Microsoft trend these days that I hate. What's more is that the games recognition of the drive is pathetic. I've restarted many times just trying to get the game to see my CD drive. The game is also very sporadic. Once you're up and in a mission, it's as stable as a rock. But getting into the game (especially when playing on the Zone), can be slow and painfull, and many times will just cut out and disappear. And don't be telling me that it's my hardware - I've got a 1.2GHz machine with 256Mb of DDR RAM, a GeForce3 card with 64Mb DDR on board, and a brand spankin' new CD drive.

If blowing away enemies that are all but a blip on your radar is your kind of game, then this isn't for you. If you want to learn how to fly, this this isn't for you. But if you want head-to-head melee action, with realistic flight, dynamic damage, killer strategy, and eye-popping graphics, then this is the game for you.

Summary: Good flight sim
Review: This is a very enjoyable game and easy to get into right away, despite what other reviewers say. True, if you jump in with fully realistic modelling of plane behavior and agressive enemies you'll have a very hard time staying alive. Being new to flight sims I took the wimpy route and used easy modes wherever i could to start out with, and I quickly became interested and started using harder settings. A flight yoke is a must, of course. Dont hope to fly with just a keyboard. Also, if heavily action-oriented games (FPSs and stuff) are your thing you may get bored with this game after a few hours. Alot of the fun is in learning to effectively fly the different planes and outfly enemies. Though the action is great, this game is really more about skill acquisition than about blowing things up. That said, it's extremely gratifying to watch your enemies burst into flames and shed pieces as your tracers tear through them.

Summary: brilliant!
Review: Fantastic game. I was hooked straight away, although was disappointed with the graphics on my PC, so upgraded it just for this game; 64MB gforce3 video card to maximize the special effects - 1600 x 1200. Unfortunately that's all that my monitor can handle, but the game can play at an even higher resolution. Visitors are blown away by the effects - full flames, smoke, detail - you can even see the shells when firing. Brilliant!

After learning to fly with the tutorials you can play others on "The Zone" ... and perhaps join a squadron to take on other squadrons.

You can import planes, missions, scenery, weapons etc from other Microsoft Flight Simulator programs or download from the Internet.

Once again Microsoft have written a winner. Well done.

If I was to winge about one thing though - is that it doesn't support Network Address Translation (NAT through firewalls and Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) unless you are running it on the ICS workstation that is connecte directly to the Internet.

Summary: Expand the game from the web
Review: This game is limitless. You are not limited to the 7 aircraft, the airfields nor even the missions in the game. Go out on the web, there are lots of sites with numerous aircraft, airfields, missions and campaigns. Ever want to drop an A-bomb from a B-29? You can.

Summary: Great Game!
Review: This game is great. It beats out CFS1 by a lot. Not only do get to fly such planes as the corsair and the zero but you can download other planes from the european theatre to the pacific theatre. I've gotten a Spitfire with lots of load outs. I also got the other verson of the corsair. The F4-Uc. This has the cannons instead of the 6 .50 caliber machine guns. This i think is better than the F4U. Great game buy it ASAP.

Summary: great! but could use more variety
Review: i was excited when it first came out but after playing it and not having the option to fly dive bombers or torpedo planes i was a little dissapointed and it can also do without the cartoons but besides that it's excellent.
