Rating: Summary: Great for playing when you're SUPPOSED to be doing your H.W. Review: ***REVIEW BASED ON DEMO***Here's why I think it's great for playing when you have homework to do - you have to let it run a lot! Set it, forget it, and do your homework. The contests are fun. The waiting is not. Graphics: 2/5. They aren't slow-computer-friendly. Sound: 1/5. Not much there. Gameplay: Varies. Can go from 1/5 during the waiting to 10/5 during the heat of a contest. Overall: Varies. Can go from 2/5 during the waiting to 11/5 during the heat of a contest. It's a very volatile game. You win some contests, you lose some. This is PSDuckie, signing out.
Rating: Summary: A let down Review: After playing Resturant Empire I found it to be confusing and a bit of a let down. Form the box itself it looks amazing. However, after playing it was anything but that. The graphics are ok but not spectacular, and i have to say the game is a little boring. after setting up your menu you just sit there and watch people eat. all and all i would not rank this game very highly.
Rating: Summary: I've Played Better & I've Played Worse Review: Being a huge fan of the tycoon game genre, I was thrilled when I saw a game that wasn't another theme park sim! The concept behind Restaurant Empire is somewhat original but I'm inclined to throw this one into the category of low-budget software titles just the same. The graphics aren't as sharp as Roller Coaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon, or The Sims but I can't say that I haven't seen worse. It was a facet of the game that I could overlook if only the rest of the game made up for it. When you get down to it, the game replay value just isn't there for me. While the first few scenarios were interesting, after a couple of hours, it just got pretty boring. Here I thought I would be in control of so much more than what I actually got from the game and whether or not you play with scenarios or in sandbox mode, it all looks the same after a while.
Rating: Summary: A winner of a business sim Review: Being a long ago fan of Enlight's Capitalism Plus from several years back and of Iron Chef, it didn't take much for this game to get my attention. Thankfully, it met the potential the concept and the company suggested. Restaurant Empire starts you out with a single restaurant and gives you the chance to create a business empire from there. Overall, it's a business sim, but you get to focus on more than the core of the business sim -- prices, costs and profits. You are in charge of laying out your restaurants, something that affects the performance of your restaurant greatly. You also need to watch your restaurant(s) and keep and eye for where problems are appearing. RE strikes a good balance in that at the beginning of the game there's a lot of micromanagement but that lessens as you get more to do. This works well as rarely do you have too little or too much to do. The story mode includes easy to follow (too easy at times)turtorials that progress slowly, making learning the game a snap. Restaurant Empire is another strong business sim from Enlight.
Rating: Summary: Very Solid Game - Hours of fun and addictive gameplay Review: Enlight Software did a fine job with this title. The game is very fun and rather addictive at first. It's also a game that you will be able to finish within a period of time that is acceptable to an adult that might not have all that much free time. I vasilated on purchasing the game at first, but now it ranks right up there. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: More involving than I had hoped Review: For as complicated as it is, it offers little entertainment. I bought this in hope of a less involving but just something to do for fun when you have a half an hour to kill. There is less emphasis on the restaurant part of it and more on the business end, which isn't something I particulary cared for. It does have some pretty good graphics however.
Rating: Summary: I had so much trouble with this game! Review: Granted, I didn't find many people with the same issues, and now that I have a new video card I might not have the same problems. But when I first bought this game, I had a great deal of trouble installing the game. Normally this would not deter me, as I've experienced this problem before. However....
Once installed, this game would start what can only be described as a screen flutter. The screen would flutter throughout the gameplay, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. This would continue to the point that certain parts of the screen would not show any text at all, and would run very very slow (if at all). Numerous requests for tech support with the manufacturer of the game came to nothing, as they claimed to never have heard of the problem before.
I'm sure this is a great game, but after having to fight with screen flutters, I gave up. Perhaps when I'm finished with Sims2, I'll try this one again.
Rating: Summary: This is an OK game. Review: I bought the game after trying the demo, and to my surprise the it was more fun than I thought it would be. The Campaign mode gives the player goals that must be met within a certain time frame. If you fail, you can do the scenerio over with easier goals which is a plus. The worst part of the game is that it seems to take forever to setup and open a restaurant. But it is worth the time when that restaurant starts making money. The company website offers a patch which allows the player to assign duties to some of the staff. There is also the option to play a sandbox game in which the only goal you need to have is not run out of money.
Rating: Summary: FUN! Review: I can't emphasize enough how much sheer FUN this game is. Yes, the graphics aren't the greatest and the storyline is a bit clunky. I am disappointed by the almost total lack of female chefs (kind of unrealistic in this day and age). The objects you place in your restaurant are limited and difficult to maneuver, and you can't shape and control your characters like you can in The Sims. But the game is a lot less expensive and a lot more FUN than anything else I've played in years. I don't have a particular interest in restaurants, and I don't play tons of sim games, but this one has plenty of elements to keep any gamer interested. It's fast moving, not terribly difficult, with lots of things to watch (your cooks cooking, diners dining, etc.) and lots of ways to tinker with your restaurants to improve them. Before you play, install the patch and make sure to turn off all other programs, including your firewall if you have one. After I did this, no more crashes. Very stable game. This is a great game; get it.
Rating: Summary: Great game but serious bugs Review: I downloaded the demo for this game and was hooked! Some of the best graphics I've ever seen for a game. I couldn't wait to go out and buy it. I got the game home and could not install it. I checked all the system requirements. It took some time for Tech Support to call me. After about a week, I found out the copy protection program is not compatiable with my computer. Since that time, I've found that MANY other people are having the same problems and our only options are to mail the game to the company in HONG KONG to receive the disk that will work as the stores will not refund our money for an opened game. The game itself is GREAT and one of the best simulation games I've seen...however, it's got some serious bugs. It may or may not work on your computer. You'll just have to take a chance!
