Rating: Summary: Good Game - A little too easy Review: In Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis the object of the game is to build a dinosaur park from scratch and make it into a five star attraction. At the start of the game you will be working with limited funds (no way to borrow money from the bank) and many requests for money. You must build fences, paths, ranger stations, visitor center and other park essentials while trying to provide funding for reasearch & development, buying fossil hunters and visitor security. I have not figured out how the game determines your star rating. You have zero stars at the start and win with five stars at the end. Most times I can get to five stars fairly quick, but there are the occasional games where it seems nothing I do is right. You can keep playing after you reach the five star level, but then the game gets a little repetitive - the same dinosaurs suffering the same problems that must to be fixed right now is just one example. To keep it interesting, you are given natural disasters to deal with too. Make sure you have enough visitor shelters - after all, you don't want your guests to be eaten by rampaging dinosaurs! I found the Missions section of this game to be very interesting. From the start screen you can choose the Missions button and get involved in some pretty good dinosaur adventures. This part of the game is also good for tuning up your skills as a helicopter pilot and marksman. Jurassic Park has good graphics and realistic game play. The various functions of the game are easy to learn and use. The only problem is that it is just too easy to get that five star rating.
Rating: Summary: Jurassic Fun! Review: Jurassic Park was a great movie and now they have a great video game for it. Watch the T-Rex eat a goat for dinner. When a dino goes mad, jump in the helocopter and put him to sleep YOURSELF! Play fun-filled missions and create the island you want!
Rating: Summary: The Species Is Back Review: Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis is great!
There's lots to enjoy in the game.
The dinosaurs move realisticly!
If you want, jump into a balloon and take pictures of dinosaurs in safety, go driving in a safari car to take up close pictures of dinosaurs (just try to keep your distance with large carnivores) or run over the dinosaurs ( you can only turn very small dinosaurs into roadkill), fly in a helicopter and shoot dinosaurs to kill them, tranquilize them, and cure them.
In a helicopter you can also drop lures (carnivore or herbivore), rescue visitors, and herd dinosaurs.
In the game you can mix any dinosaur together to see how they get along in an exhibit. For example velociraptors live harmoneosly with dilophosaurus, albertosaurus do well with ceratosaurus, when some tyrannosaurus are with some spinosaurus they will kill each other.
Some dinosaurs have their own friend (herbivores only have friends) and some have their own prey (carnivores only).
The dinosaurs each have flocking behavior, t-rex and some other large carnivores won't hunt in packs, some small carnivores will hunt in huge numbers, most herbivores live together.
Eating behaviors are also different, herbivores are a little picky. They may be heading for the exact same plant, even when there is a huge crowd of other herbivores in the way, they may even walk strait towards a plant far away, even when there is a plant right next to it.
Large carnivores will swallow very small prey whole, and tear chunks of larger prey off.
The way carnivores attack their prey is also different. Velociraptors pounce on prey as small as they are, which knocks that specific prey down, and jump on larger prey, holding on to the prey.
Dilophosaurus spit only at small prey.
It is very bad though that you can only get a certain amount of everything except money. Yes you heard me. Everything except money!
The people are also cool.
They look different from each other in some ways, depending on what they enjoy seeing.
Some people just love the fact of seeing real dinosaurs, the mainstream. Others get excited about seeing dinosaurs in action, the thrillseekers. One group likes to see prehistoric plants and dinosaurs from the same place and time, the dino nerds. And another type of the four groups loves to see peace, dinosaurs playing and sleeping, stuff like that, the fun lovers.
People will talk to each other occasionally. And this is just one of the things that makes Jurassic Park very real.
It is funny when you see people running and screaming to death when they're panicking over a harmless species of herbivore. And they were loving to look at them thirty seconds ago.
It's hilarious when they are standing on a path paralized when they see a large canivore. Then the carnivore doesn't see 'em and then they bend down and sniff them then they toss their head down and grab the person while they scream.
It is fun when you see a dinosaur or person in a large carnivore's mouth and shoot it till it dies with prey in its mouth and the prey falls out, lands on the grond and dies with a scream.
This game will definately rival zoo tycoon. Well everyone, I hope that everything I have said about this incredible game is enough for you.
Rating: Summary: A+ from me Review: Just a little two easy, and not enough buildings Every Thing else is A+! A must have for any park building sim lover. A great frist sim game! A great gift for a Jurassic Park Fan, or a Dino lover. The bast part of this game is that when you get bored building you still have plenty of other things to do. This game is a Park Building Sim, dinosaur breeding, frist person shotter/picture taking, dino herding, and a vister rescue game all rolled up into one $15-$20 game!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Game Review: Just purchased this title. The graphics are awesome! The sound effects make it sould like you are really there. Good gameplay in the missions. If you have been waiting for the chance to actually build Jurassic Park (not just shoot dinosaurs and run around the whole game) then Operation Genesis is for you!
Rating: Summary: A little to easy Review: One of the best games i've played in a cupple of years. They got a few good dinosaurs in there but it would have been better if they put some water dwelling dinosaurs in there like Meglodon. But i'll still give it a five!
Rating: Summary: Fun game, but maybe a little too easy Review: Operation Genesis is an economic sim where you create your own dinosaur park, but a few real-time elements breathe some new life into the genre. Think of it as a game of Theme Park, where the main attractions can kill you. You start off the game on your own custom island, researching DNA, building exhibits, and of course constructing huge fences to keep the dinosaurs contained. As your research progresses, you are able to create bigger and badder dinosaurs that generate additional customer interest. Of course this raises the danger level as well. To provide research material, you hire teams of archaeologists to dig up bones and amber. As more material is collected and researched, the DNA of each dinosaur becomes more complete and the dinosaurs live longer as a result. I think the developers struck a nice balance of keeping the money management focused mainly on dinosaur research and less on the park itself so it doesn't turn into yet another economic sim. You do have to monitor some areas like food and park cleanliness, but that's about it. The majority of money is spent developing dinosaurs and their needs. For instance, the dinosaurs need to be vaccinated to prevent a number of diseases that can afflict the animals. Once the vaccines are developed, you need to build a helicopter station so they can be shot with the vaccine (or shot period if they go nuts and start attacking everything.) You can't spend the entire time focused only on the dinosaurs, though. You also need to spend time researching new and better exhibits, such as balloon rides, viewing towers, and the ever-popular jungle safari tours in the woefully inadequate Nissan pickups, so the customers can see the dinosaurs better and improve your park rating. As the research improves and new technologies are developed, you get an email telling you everything, and I mean everything that happens. This starts to get a little annoying after a while as many of the "common sense" decisions could be delegated. It would have been nice to be able to adjust the settings so certain decisions, like reviving a sick dinosaur or selling fully researched DNA material, could be made automatically. Every so often, a little real-time gameplay comes into action. For instance, a dinosaur might trash one of the pickups, leaving the survivors stranded and it's up to you to fly a helicopter overhead and rescue them before they get trampled on or eaten. Or, if you like, you can jump on one of the balloons or pickups to take some pictures of the dinosaurs. If your photography skills are good enough, they might get published and you'll make a little extra cash as a result. One of the best features of the game is simply watching the behavior of the dinosaurs as they interact with one another. Certain dinosaurs tend to get along, others don't. As you introduce new and different dinosaurs, the dynamics of the park change. When my park started off with all herbivores, they would wander all over the place. Once I introduced some carnivores, especially my bad-boy T-Rex, they tended to become much more territorial. Plus my normally docile triceritops would start freaking out and trash any nearby pickups, much to the chagrin of the customers. Other dinosaurs would get so stressed, they'd simply keel over and die. Some of the behaviors are a little buggy, they like pushing each other around while they're sleeping, for instance. But for the most part they do seem to have individual personality and it adds a lot to the game. There are some minor gripes, such as being forced to used certain functions with a keyboard even though the entire game could have been mouse driven. My main gripe, though, is that it's a little too easy. I'm no expert in these types of games, but even in my first game, I easily created a money making machine with every exhibit and every dinosaur researched in spite of numerous mistakes that I wouldn't make my second time around. There's really not much involved in keeping the park maintained or the customers happy. It didn't seem like it made much difference to the customers whether I had a few or a lot of dinosaurs. In fact, it seems like the less dinosaurs you have, the easier it is to play. Having said that, I was feeling pretty smug about my park when a huge twister ripped through destroying everything in its path. I was having so much fun watching the devastation that I forgot to declare a state of emergency. Let's just say that the few customers that lived probably won't return anytime soon. So should you buy it? If you're looking for a complex economic sim, you'll probably be happier with Sim City 4. It's also graphics-intensive, so it'll struggle on standard video cards, but anyone with a Geforce or Radeon will be able to play it. Aside from that, you really do get the "virtual" thrill of building and managing your very own dinosaur park. Hope the review helped.
Rating: Summary: Great game. Review: So far I have only played the game demo (availible at http://www.jpthegame.com) but I really loved it, and I think the game will be as good as the Demo, the Dino's do everything what they supposed to do, they eat, sleep, drink, poop etc. and the missions where you have to photograph or shoot the dino's from a helicopter are well made, this game is a must have for every fan of Jurassic Park or Dinosaurs, the graphics are highly detailed and it sounds like the sounds of the Dinosaurs are comming right out the movie, and the sountrack from John Williams makes it all a great game.
Rating: Summary: Juunana-gou Review: The dinosaurs are: Dryosaurus, Kentrosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Tyrannosaurs Rex, Triceratops, 'Velociraptor', Camarasaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Allosaurus, Albertosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Carcharadontosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Gallimimus, Edmontosaurus, Homalocephale, Ouranosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus, Styracosaurus, and a Torosaurus. (Might have missed one) Overall, the graphics are stunning beyond all normal human conception, the reactions were believable and there was also some possibly unintended humor (ex: a Pachy could get her tail stuck in the viewing dome door). Sad to say there are no Pterosaurs nor an Iguanodon. There are limited amounts of buildings and fences, but, if you have it for PC, but that can be fixed if edit the game's files (backups=must in case you mess up). Almost never gets boring, though creating a 5-star zoo may take a while, it's great to see the result: cash. Also, there are a few strange things that can occur. In my game, my Carcharadontosaurus protected a herd of mixed herbivores, which included its favorite prey, from everything from a Dilophosaurus to a Spino and Rex themselves. Bonding, isn't it great? Ah, so, yes, worth your time and money indeed. The herbivores defend themselves, and even kill the predators once in a while. Also, all the big carnivores get edgy when a safari ride is on tour: don't make one in a large carni's habitat; it won't last long. Hope this has been of help. If you want an expansion pack, sign: (...)
