Rating: Summary: Gameplay as good as ever- though some of the spells.... Review: seem a bit useless. For example, there is a spell that gets rid of all your dirty dishes. Unless your sim is a pig and for whatever reason can't afford a maid, this charm is a waste of ingrediants. But besides a few lame charms and spells, this expansion pack isarguably the best e.p. MM adds many new aspects to the already great sims series. First and foremost, your sims no longer have to eat beans and meatloaf for every meal! (Or whatever that stuff is...) Now sims can bake cakes, pies, breads and if you want to get daring, you can find the special ingrediants that will turn your sim into a donkey! You can now also press your own nectar and store it so that your sims may loosen up with friends in the future. Besides the food, there are a variety of spells and charms one may cast, but be sure that your sim has high logic and mechanical skills (at least higher then the person they indend to cast a spell on), otherwise the other sim will not yet the spell be cast on them. Believe me, this is not a good thing, because whether a spell works or not, the ingrediants you used can not be reembursed. Some ingrediants are not so easy to get, like the black rose. (the only way you can get it is from an obsessed fan, aka you need SuperStar to get it.) But dont worry. Some ingrediants that seem difficult to get a hold on are only an easy quest or simple barter away! Just talk to the neato venders at magic town. Overall, this is an awesome game, and a great finish to the sims series. It comes with the Sims 2 preview CD, which is worth taking a look at. also consider looking at sims 2 fansites, because this game looks better then the orginal, if that is humanly possible. So buy this game, and make some magic!
Rating: Summary: Fun but advertising was misleading Review: If the television commercials for this expansion pack are to be believed, then my Sims should now be able to get some double penetration action in Makin' Magic. Unfortunately, this was not implemented in the actual game. I feel cheated.
Rating: Summary: THE SIMS HAVE MAGIC! Review: Wow, This sims is one of the best out there. If you like Harry Potter, Hanted Houses, Going to the Carnival or Which-craft this is the sims expansion pack for you!
Rating: Summary: The Sims: Makin Magic Review: This is an amazing game, with the new magic element, everything becomes a lot more fun and interesting. I'm sick of annoying neigbours coming round, so what do i do? I turn them into an animal, I love being able to use magic. This new element of the game is a must-see. What a great new refreshing change, whether it be brewing potions in the kitchen, planting vines in the backyard, or hatching dragons, I'm sure everyone will love it. The custom games at the carnival are funny to make, I really enjoyed the hanging people on the tree and the magic act show is really good, at last, you can do something really intersting and weird, i really enjoyed this game, in comparison with The Sims: Unleashed, i think this was a totally better game. So go out there and buy it, or miss out on the oppertunity to turn your neighbours into toads.
Rating: Summary: The Sims have magic! Review: "The Sims Makin' Magic" expansion pack is by far the best addition to the world of The Sims since "Hot Date", which introduced the whole concept of leaving your Sim's house. This game is bursting with tons of new game play options. First of all, your Sims can have magical powers now! You can create spells and charms that can do everything from do the dishes to make your Sim a celebrity! Once you perform a spell, it is unlocked in your new, very useful family spellbook. There are tons of spells and you can travel to the all new Magic Town to make MagiCoins (needed to purchase certain magical ingredients), buy everything from Dragon Tears to Faerie Dust, perform, charm snakes, barter, duel, take rides in a funhouse, complete quests for vendors, and much more. You can even adopt a dragon! After a certain number of spells have been cast in your house, magical rewards begin appearing in your yard such as a beanstalk, crystals, and gnarled roots. Your Sims can even bake their own food now! Nectars, pies, cakes; yummy! There are also many new objects that can assist you in your culinary development. There's the family cookbook (in addition to the family spellbook), a butter churner, honey maker, a baker's oven and nectar press. You can now even grow grapes and elderberries in your garden and then make nectar out of them to either sell or store in your new nectar bar. In addition, there is of course, many new pieces of furniture, plants, NPC's (I love the new skeleton maid), interactions, floors, wallpapers and skins. There's also a great option for those especially magical Sims; an opportunity to move into an old house in Magic Town!
Rating: Summary: 5 Stars for the game 1 for cheating people out of cash Review: I admit, the sims is a very good game. But come on people, the people at Maxis come out with more expansion packs to take away your hard earned dollars, Plus if you don't have a computer that can take this amount of Space, then it's useless. Please Maxis stop making expansion packs, I admit they are great, but why not just make another Sims with all the stuff together. Now I know people are gonna say, they use it to make more money! I KNOW THAT! I just don't like to see you the hard working consumers be deprived of a lot of money. The game of course is spectacular. But people plz this not a review saying the game is bad. It's a review written with you in mind.
Rating: Summary: This game rocks!!! Rating: Summary: The Best Expansion Pack? Review: I won't claim this _is_ the best expansion pack (mostly since House Party and Livin' Large are distant memories for me), but I will go so far as to say that Makin' Magic is the best in recent memory. I've been a huge critic of the Sims franchise (largely as a result of TSO) in recent months, this expansion goes a long way toward answering my two chief concerns: that Maxis has lost sight of their fan base, and that additional game play options were needed in the stand alone game. So I am pleasantly suprised that Makin' Magic responds to the cries of players who want a simpler lifestyle for their Sims, much less that it did it by providing game play options. Tom and Barbara Goode can finally make their debut in my neighborhood as they were meant to--as a self-sufficent couple living off the land (by making and selling nectar, butter, bread, and beeswax). Okay, so we _still_ don't have foundations and gable roofs, but the Sims 2 preview disk claims those features are coming in the new game. Wow. I'm left with nothing to complain about. Would that Maxis had done the same with TSO. At any rate, the offline franchise seems to have faired much better than its on-line counterpart, and seems fated to be with us for many years to come. Kudos to Maxis for this one!
