Rating: 1 stars
Summary: For Children Ages 5 To 9
Review: Infogrames upgraded the classic Pac-Man game and, in the process, made the game virtually unrecognizable. The familiar looking Pac-Man is gone, replaced by a Pac-Man who looks like a yellow ball with legs. The familiar sound effects are gone, replaced by childish music and chirping birds. The mazes are gone, replaced by different 3-D worlds with impressive graphics. Instead of using the mouse to move Pac-Man, you have to use the arrow keys on the keyboard. Since Pac-Man is not moving in straight lines along a maze, it makes for awkward gameplay. Another change is what happens when Pac-Man comes in contact with a ghost. Rather than lose a life, he just gets stunned for a few seconds. That makes the game less exciting to play and also less threatening to youngsters. After a few boring minutes of playing this game, it's obvious that "Pac-Man All-Stars" was designed for very young children, not for nostalgic baby boomers wanting to duplicate the fun of playing the classic Pac-Man game.
