Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Nice concept but can't get it to work right
Review: I am being very generous when I give this game 3 stars because I like the concept of the game and despite some problems the game is fun to play although not that challenging.
I have a system that more them meets the recommended system with dual boot win98 and XP on seperate hard drives.
When I load the game in win98 the sound is spotty and I can not get the soldier to shot his primary weapons nor switch between them. It will kick as if it is firing but there is no sound or round impact nor does the round count go down.
When I load the game in XP the sound works fine but I have the same problem with the soldier firing. I can throw grenades all day long but I can not get the m16 to shot nor can I switch to the 9mm.
They also should have made is so you could control the soldier and humvee in first person instead of only third.
I have uninstalled and installed the game several times with no change to the firing and sound problems. I first thought it might be the directX9 drivers that come with the game but I have no problems with my other games after I installed the directX9 drivers so I do not think this is the issue. And I have tried it with 8.1 drivers and still have the same issues.
I am still trying to figure out what is wrong because I like the idea of the game and it is fun to play in humvee mode but hard to complete because if I switch to the soldier all I can do is throw grenades and I can not stay alive very long that way nor can I complete the mission in just humvee mode.
It also has some slow load times and you can only save the game at predetermined points. I also found that some of the controls are not listed in the very limited instruction manual and you have to go into the options to find them.
I have several games from Infogrames and enjoy playing them but I think they rushed this game into production before it was tested completely. Either that or I got a bought a defective copy.
Again I like the concept and think it can be fun to play if it would work right.
If all else fails I will take it back and get another copy in case the one I got is somehow defective.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Fast-paced and fun
Review: No I don't own a Hummer, and I was never particularly for or against the war in Iraq. But I picked this game up on a whim and thought it was a lot of fun. You ride around on one of four Humvees and blow the hell outta bad guys that come after you. I haven't made it to the Iraq missions later in the game but I'm sure they'll be interesting. Only complaints are load time (definitely need top-end processor and memory... I'm slow loading at 1.6 GHz and 256 MB) and that it took me a while to figure out that "E" gets you into the vehicle (it's not in the documentation) -- that's right, you can jump in and out! Pretty nifty. Certainly worth $.
