Rating: Summary: Pretty good - could be better.... Review: This is a very visually stimulating game; however, once you figure out how to win one scenerio - it's not too much of a challenge to win the other scenerios. That doesn't mean that the game is boring - it provided me with hours upon hours of play time. There are so many things to build and buy. It also provides younger people with a simplistic but good foundation for how the business world operates. If you could set up a multi-player game against "real" people - you could really test your skills. The other downside is that once you win the scenerio - that's it game over. I would prefer to continue play on some of the scenerios - maybe if they have another version - they could incorporate this. But overall - a very good game.
Rating: Summary: What a waste Review: This game was a complete waste of money, the graphics were terrible and the gameplay was flat out boring, it should really cost only 5 bucks. The first day I had it I thought it was pretty cool, building cloth, food and toy stores but the game took forever to load and got jammed alot. The only reason I bought it was because I thought it was going to be like Roller Coaster Tycoon and the Sims. Dont get this game unless you try it first, my suggestion is to get RollerCoaster Tycoon, the Sims or Sim City 3000 instead.
Rating: Summary: For Online - many technical problems Review: The game if played solo is just an average nothing special game and can in fact be aggravating. If wishing online play, (which would be more interesting and is advertised), people should first review all the comments about technical problems. Those can be viewed at the Gamespy.com forum.
Rating: Summary: GREAT MONOPOLY! Review: THIS GAME IS GREAT! MORE FUN THE REGULAR MONOPOLY, MORE EXCITING THEN THE SIMS GAMES.NO TROUBLE WITH INSTALLING IT, OR PLAYING IT NO CRASHES. I DO NOT HAVE 64 RAM LIKE THEY ASK FOR, BUT NO PROBLEM PLAYING IT. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY.
Rating: Summary: So So Review: I bought this game thinking- oh, it's from the people who made roller coaster tycoon, it must be great- but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The game can be increasingly long- you start in like the 60's (something like that it might be earlier like the 40's I can't remember) and each day is 5 years. One day can be very long real time wise. Cool things like ice cream parlors and bowling alleys are added every other day or so. It's pretty hard to understand the bidding and things like that. There are different types of games you can play, you can add computer players, and if other people locally are playing (fat chance unless you schedule it) then you can play with them and even talk to each other through the game, which could be really cool. Dissapointingly, Monopoly Tycoon actually has very little to do with Monopoly in terms of your objectives and goals in the game. It's a pure strategey game, i prefer role playing games like Zelda (not on PC) and Paper Mario (N64) because its more of an adventure that you can be a part of. This game has its good points-- you'll probably end up staring at the computer screen for hours playing it. I would give this a 2 and a half you can only do whole so its a star game-- save your money, buy the Sims and if you already have that buy Roller Coaster Tycoon =)so overall, it's worth a try, but you'll get tired of it after the first couple of times you play it.
Rating: Summary: Yeah, ok. It's Kinda Fun. Review: Well, I haven't had the chance to give it the FULL play that it may deserve. I have a few computers in my house connected to my little 'ChazNet', and I'd like to be able to play it against my wife or one of my bratlings on the net to see if it's fun in multiplayer mode - I haven't been able to do that because I don't seem to be able to make a spawn of the game... c'mon, you know what I'm talking about... Like in Starcraft... you buy the game and you can 'spawn' or install the same CD on another computer for netplay if the extra computer will just be a client... so Monopoly Tycoon does NOT have that capability from what I can find. But in one player mode... ehhh... well it was addictive for a couple days, and pretty darned fun. Scenarios are ok. It keeps acting like it locks up, but if you give it a minute or two... literally... or maybe three minutes... it starts playing again... Fun... yet, somewhat lacking. I haven't played it for a while and don't really miss it much... but I may go back to it again some time... know what I mean?

Rating: Summary: What a great game Review: Seeing all of the bad reviews almost made me consider not buying this game. They said that they got bored with it and such. I see endless possiblities for addictive fun. I highly recommend that you buy this game, and as more people get it the multiplayer will quickly build. I was highly looking forward to this game when I saw it in the store, and I can't believe that I let a few bad reviews almost sway my opinion and put me out of hours of fun. ...
Rating: Summary: No, it's not "regular" Monopoly--it's better! Review: Monopoly for the PC has been out for some time, so I don't know why the complaints about how this "isn't Monopoly". What's so exciting about regular Monopoly that take hours to play? This game is fast pace and cut-throat. I can just imagine what the multi-player is like. Being that I haven't played that yet, I'll just stick to the single-player. It has the familiar game pieces (as their 3D representative character) and blocks. The premise is similar, but with a twist. Instead of hopping around a board via die roles, you pick a block and start building. The single player gives you progressive challenges each with 3 difficulty levels. You only need to complete the easiest level to progress to the next. You also have railroad and utilities that you can buy in some scenarios. In single mode, you are pitted against 2 computer challengers and get scenarios such as "Be the first to make $2,000 in 1 day of business." This is where the "sim" comes in--you're not only building a wide array of shops, you're trying to build what will draw the consumers and shut out the competition. You poll the people in the neighborhoods near where you want to build to find their desires, which change over time. Fill a block with businesses and take it to auction--if you outbid the others, all of your stores get free rent/utilities for a period of time so that your bottom line grows. The game starts in the 1930s but ever 1 "day" is a five year advancement in time and you gain the ability to build new business that weren't available in the previous time period. Fads come and go so a store that was popular in the 1940s may not be in 1960s. That's okay because you can renovate and change the type of business it is. If it sounds like you get bogged down with all this, don't worry, you don't. You don't have time as it's very fast paced. Building is a matter of choosing a business type and dragging the mouse over x-number of squares and it zooms to completion immediately. The larger the building and/or the nicer the frontage, the more it costs. You can also sell off businesses that aren't doing well or change them into a different business. You have day businesses and night ones so you have to pick your building time well. Money comes in from customers, but goes out when it's time to re-order supplies and pay rent at 6 a.m. Also, you want to keep an eye on your cash levels and those of your opponents so you can send your block to auction at the best advantage for you. Like the traditional Monopoly, you can get "Chance" cards, some good, some bad. No passing go or landing in jail, though. One thing that's a neat touch is that the music changes to the appropriate period as you move through the decades. The only things that can be frustrating is the auctions--the characters can be tediously the same. (If you decide to quit the auction, you can click a button and speed up the pace. I wish it would just do that itself instead of bidding continuing to come from the computerized opponents.) The other thing is that it takes you through specific challenges--you're not just allowed to play a regular multiplayer against the computer (at least at first--I haven't finished all of the challenges.) The scenarios do help you get started if you didn't do the tutorial, but it would be nice if you could pick and choose which ones you want to play instead of forcing you to complete each challenge before moving on to the next. All in all, they've kept true to the idea of Monopoly, but have given a new spin to an old game.
