Review: ...For about two weeks, this was my life, I played Monopoly Tycoon all the time, even dabbling in the multiplayer thing on Gamespy (by the way, Gamespy is a terrible network, most people seem to be connected to the internet with a can and string). However, after those two weeks, I quickly lost interest.

Some scenarios in the game are rather fun. Fast paced, beat the computer type things. If you enjoy games where quick decisions and figuring out ways to break down the competition, then this game is for you. This is a bit like The Sims on steroids, after the side effects have kicked in. While it's fun, it's not the best game in the world... however, people who really enjoy this genre of games, in my opinion, will love it.

Review: The game is worth buying. It's both monopoly and a tycoon/sim game, you have to build a city while out-doing your tycoon rivals. It has classic monopoly names and some new ones like two more utilities gasworks and telecoms. The difficulty isn't as hard as I first got the game, after you spend some time with it, it's pretty simple. Playing online is annoying, I don't like the Gamespy arcade too much, and the time is elapsed very slowly, taking the game forever to finish, and it's really hard to find a game online. Downloading the patches makes new options appear so you won't get bored with it. This game is worth buying.

Review: Well, my 15 year old son was the recipient of this item. He played it alot when he first got it, but his interest in it waned in a short time.

Review: I am a computer game enthusist, esspecially simulation game. I like Roller Coaster Tycoon, Sim City, The Sims, etc. And esspecially the older Transport Tycoon. And when I heard about this game it sounded awesome! A sim with a monopoly twist, or if you like, the other way around. I love games where I own my own business. So I got this game.

So I booted it up and started the tutorial. The game had decent graphics but it was jerky. My computer's not top of the line but it goes way beond all system requirements. The tutorial was well done. It made the game seem better than it really was. So I then started my own game and I understood the game but I had a question. Why do they have the nerve to call it monopoly tycoon when it barely relates to Monopoly. The only thing that does is the fact that city blocks are named and colored the same as the origonal Monopoly game. But other than that, it was completely different.

The game was still okay though. But after a total of 5 or 6 hours the game gets extremly boring because your just constantly doing the same thing over and over again. It just doesn't have enough customability and options.

Pros: A good challange, Good Tutorial, Fun for a little while

Cons: Gets boring fast, very repetative, less than average quality graphics, jerky even on fast systems, barely relates to Monopoly

Final Verdict: Over priced, messed up sim that says monopoly on it. Get Capitalism 2 instead for half the price.

Summary: It's fun, but repetitive
Review: This game is a lot of fun -- initially. Played on a Monopoly-like "board" it's up to you to create a balance of shops and housing for your SIM residents; earning you the big bucks and wiping out the competition. There are a series of challenge levels that take you through various competitions from earning the most money by the year 1960, to who can make $40,000 in sales first. The auction part is interesting, as you try to outbid other computer-generated competitors to own the most property on the board, without going bankrupt (there's only one day's leniency if your bankroll is in the red). However, the game has no perceptual difference between the bronze, silver and gold levels to warrant that designation. It's like playing the same challenges through each of these accelerated levels. This game was a lot of fun though, it occupied hours of enjoyment for me, so it's worth the money. Enjoy!

Summary: Good game but lacking something
Review: I have seen this game in stores and read the package and fell in love with what I was reading. I thougt great they finally put monopoly into a real interactive game unlike those other monopoly cd games that are truely from the board game such as star wars monoploy and the like. And since I am a bit of a Monopoly lover, not to be confused with expert, I wanted this game. At the time I saw it in stores it was a bit pricy at $50 a pop so I figured I could wait till the price dropped before snatching this one up. Little did I know a friend of mine had it so I borrowed his and installed it and played.
The game has a great interface and smooth camera rotation. I love the backround music and the graphics are of the sim city varitey. I now have the game installed on my laptop and use the built int touch-pad without a problem. I have it installed on a WinME platform and no problems. I found it cute with the different characters that represent the tokens. No waiting for rolling the dice and waiting your turn. You do have to keep an eye out on the needs of the people in an area. I did find it helpfull reading the manual that suggests you put all night time businesses on a seperate block than daytime businesses, that way you can better see and control what is going on. You also have to watch the clock when you are looking to do some building cause if it is anytime afer midnight and you are not having a good cash flow then when your restocking and paying rent is due and you have built a Huge business that takes most of your cash then you maybe in for a bumpy next few days. One drawback that I found rather disturbing is that with all the different scenarios and the goals you can work for, why did they limit the amount of goods sold to just 20000 for a day to win. Why did they not let you chose as high a number as you wanted. For those that are die hard monopoly fans like me you can remember playing a game that lasted several days(or am I the only one that did that with my siblings) Or why did they not put in an option not to have a set limit for anything just play till either someone went backrupt or you got tired of the game. I have played several times where I was going along good and was really into all the little details of my businesses and raking in the money when WHAM!!!! game is over you win by being first to make daily sales of 20000. All in all this is a great game and is,in my opionion, worthy of the name Monopoly. I hope they come out with a second version with more options for longer game play so I can have a nice long game that I can drag out over a few days. :)

Review: If you like Monopoly and SimCity, then this is their love child. Monopoly Tycoon combines some of the features of both to create a new game. Monopoly's property names, utilites, rent payments, and even Chance Cards make it in to the game, while SimCity's building and city planning also are factors.

All in all a good game, but after a while, you are just doing the same things over and over again to win. Can get boring, but still a good game.

Review: This game is based off the principles of the board game. You want to own the market and get as many monopolies as possible. You can get monopolies with streets, rail roads and utilities. There are thirty three city blocks, four rail roads and four utilities for your taking. Most of the names are new but there are some of the originals in there too. Altogether there are forty four businesses to buy and run. What makes this game different than the board game is the amount of detail. You have to pay attention to what the people want, prices of goods and stock, landlords, and profits.

Just like the board game there are all the markers (racecar, wheel barrow, dog, cannon etc.), they all have detailed personalities too. For example the dog is a snobby lady, whose wealth comes from old money and she always carries her dog wherever she goes. The canon is a strategic army commander, the wheel barrow is a builder who is a shrewd investor. In the single player you get to place the racecar, he is a quick minded individual who does not always think of the consequences of his actions or investments. This demo has a nice tutorial and one single player mission. The full version will have sixteen scenarios and multiplayer mode where you can play scenarios like last man standing, get voted for mayor etc. You can network play with up to five people. You can also play online via game spy. The campaign in the demo is a race to sell 500 items. You play against the computer being all the characters mentioned earlier. There is only one difficulty setting available and that is easy.

This game isn't about owning properties, in this game you build them. There are many businesses to put on them, to help you choose it's a good idea to take a poll, and then build what the people want. The time periods vary from 1930-2000 so some additional businesses will become available later in the game. You need to consider people's needs and wants for the day and evening entertainment. You have to manage each businesses' books, prices and profits. If you go in the red for more than 24 hours, your game is over. The chance cards are still in this game and you never know what they will deliver. You can open them anytime, just make sure your cash flow is ok before you do so.

If you do find your in a pinch for cash you auction off properties. You can also demolish businesses for a small fee. If you are low on cash and want to change a business you can refurbish it to something else. You can also sell stores back to the city or a lower cost. It's usually a bad idea to buy out opponents' stores, unless you have a monopoly on that land. The monopoly allows you to buy the stores at less than actual value, so you make money instantly with each purchase! If you buy stores on a block where you don't have a monopoly, on the other hand, you'll overpay.

From a Christian perspective this game is as clean as the board game.

The game was easy to install, it uses your typical install shield. There is a separate applet to configure your video resolution and sound source. The graphics were good, definitely 3D rendered. There were three view modes, and the camera movement was very smooth. It has good sound effects and nice background music. For controls you only need the mouse. The interface is easy to use, my only complaints is that the text is hard to read. The game is not designed for Windows 2000 but it does run well on it. The game is a slow on exiting, it makes you wait to read what the full version has to offer. Overall a nice remake of monopoly, and just like the original it's fun for the whole family.
