Rating: Summary: Constricted gameplay, confusing storyline Review: +'s = decent graphics, interesting movies -'s = limiting gameplay only allows you to do what they require, many rooms/areas are shown that cannot be explored, your actions have little to do with the plot (it is more like movie that you watch than it is a game), multiple objects cannot be used/are not needed, minimal charachter detail
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: A beautifulu made interactive adventure based on old leadgends and tales. Though mostly it stands behind the old masterpiece, Goete's "Faust". This game begins in the sky and from there, it goes down to earth. You meet an old troubled man, names Marcellous Faust and very quickly you learn that he is being played by greater forces. The story investigates an old theme park, a mysterius place with a dark past. You need to clear it. But as you do, you find more turns and you see that something bigger then what you had believed is accuring. Through the seven sins you learn about lonely characters, good and evil and you get an insight at many philosophical questions that were placed through the older "Fausts" stories. The old story of demnation and solitude. An excellent game. Right up the ledder among the greatest (Gabriel Knight, The longest Journey and so for). Enjoy!!!
Rating: Summary: Fabulous game. Review: A creepy, lush, riveting storyline combined with an engaging style of gameplay glues you to your keyboard. A wonderful game!
Rating: Summary: Um... well, it's European Review: A strange little game which starts very ambitiously and really gets lost along the way somewhere. There are a number of borderline offensive features -- such as the sex dream sequence, the subtext that Satan's not such a bad guy after all, and the Uncle Tom-like black character in overalls -- but the thing that really turned me off was the bad writing, bad animation, and bad acting. Or maybe it's just a bad translation? All in all, not really worth the bother.
Rating: Summary: One of My Favorites!! Review: Excellent story (which is first and foremost, the most important element in an adventure game), great music, and wonderful graphics make this one of my favorite games of all time. It ranks right up there with Riven and The Longest Journey. Seven Games of the soul is a dark (yet occassionally humorous) game, with many fascinating characters. In it, you play an old man (whose identity you will discover later in the game) who can't remember who he is. But Mephistopheles (a demon, or the devil, as some call him) and "The Boss" tell you that they need you to determine if these seven specific characters should go to heaven or hell. However, by the end, you realize that isn't all. This game has a much deeper meaning behind it, and is really very thought-provoking (making you contemplate your life, God, and the balance between "good/evil"). Along the way to your journey of self-discovery, you'll meet a pair of greedy, selfish siamese twin sisters, and an immature young man aching for love so badly that he'd sell his soul just to have women fall at his feet. You'll also come across a vain, racist, and very angry man. And last, is poor young Giselle, a sweet girl who has a psychological eating disorder due to a horrible tragedy in her past. These are only some of the sad characters you'll come to know. And Mephistopheles (or Mephisto) alone is a very intriguing character--he gives some very interesting insight to the idea of the "devil" and the struggle between good/evil. By the end, I was feeling sorry for the poor guy. This game has horror, tragedy, lust, love, and more. It's hard to believe anyone would rate this game badly. I recommend it to anyone interested in this type of thing.
Rating: Summary: seven wasted hours of the soul Review: I can't say enough about how poor this game is, especially after having finished a *real* game (grim fandango: buy it now). Typos, bugs and poor dubs are bad enough, but to have to endure the inane plot, the senseless "puzzles" and the utterly frustrating lack of continuity is too much (not to mention the poor attemps at ripping off myst/riven). It's strange, though. There is some out-of-place attention to detail in odd areas. My guess is there was an above average art director, an ok story teller, some run-of-the-mill programmers, a UI person that had no clue, and someone in charge that had a "QA-be-damned" attitude that only cared about getting the thing out and didn't care about playability. I can't imagine *anyone* getting by without a guide book. It is just too obscure, annoying, and just plain idiotic to play. There, you've been warned.
Rating: Summary: If only I could give this game 0 stars Review: I don't like being manipulated by computer games. I won't give any specifics away, but let's just say the goal stated in the instructions and in the game's introduction isn't the real goal. And you don't find out what the real goal is until the final scene. That's disappointing, because the stated premise of the game is intriguing, but it never comes to fruition. Also, the puzzles are tough - anyone who says they did all of the puzzles without a walkthrough is either a liar or a genius. The game looks and sounds OK, but the fact that there is no risk factor to your character leaves the story flat and boring. Plus, the character development was choppy and incomplete - you don't know what ends up happening to most of the characters. I definitely do not recommend this game.
Rating: Summary: A Game of Profound Lessons Review: I just finished Faust: Seven Games of the Soul. I must say that I could not leave this game at night without getting up the next morning to begin again. It takes the seven deadly sins one by one and puts a character in the role to make it believable. I would say the voice acting and the graphics were shockingly well done. Each level got better than the last. Most adventure games try to get to this level of intelligence but few make the grade. It was great fun and kept me wondering what would come next. That is the duty of game producers, but sometime they do not make the grade. I loved this game and I would love to hear from some of the rest of you with opinions.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Game! Review: I kept passing this game up at the store and on-line. I just wasnt sure it would live up to its description. Man, was I so wrong! I am glad that this game "haunted" the back of my mind so much and made me buy it. The story-line is fantastic. The puzzles and reasoning are perfection. I really felt for the characters in this game. Some I still wonder about as if they were real. Evil and Good....or as they say,"force and counter-force." I wanted to see everything and be everywhere in this carnival of Dreamland. There were no glitches at all and the game ran so smoothly. I love the 360 degree viewing and the graphics were outstanding. This is a very mature game. The content is over PG-13 rating in a few areas. After I finished, (satisfied yet, sad that it was over) I immediatley went to the software site to see if there was any chance of a sequal. One of my top ten Adventure Games!
Rating: Summary: It was okay Review: I kinda liked it at first. I love puzzle, gotta figure things out kind of games, but after a while this one got pretty dumb. The graphics are pretty 'archaic' as far as 3D animation goes now days. It's definitely not Titan A.E. quality. Some of the puzzles were impossible to figure out in my opinion. Like I said, it started out okay, seemed like a really intense story but it got pretty dull and dumb pretty quick.
