Summary: The Weakest Link - Good Buy!
Review: Activision's "The Weakest Link" is by far one of the best PC game recreations of a TV game show that I have seen. If you are not brave enough to face Anne Robinson in person (and who would blame you?!), this is a perfect opportunity to have the game show experience in the comfort of your own home.

The 3D graphics are amazing (though for (price), the technology is not quite yet there to give you and your fellow contestants anything better than block-head look). The game plays just like the TV show… from the lighting, to the music, to the "camera" swooping in/passing by each contestant. The only difference is the answers are presented in a multiple-choice format. You get the real-life Anne (in filmed segments) zinging the "team" with her trademark barbs between rounds and "cyber"-Anne furiously whipping her computer console around as she fires away. Even the same male TV announcer from the NBC show calmly informs us who was the strongest link, the weakest link, and who banked most for the team. Get too many answers wrong or take too long and your fellow players will vote you off. The "Walk of Shame" is even intact as players try to rationalize their mistakes or blame other players as they walk of the cyber-set.

I would actually make this a 4.5 star review -- while the PC game ultimately ran fine for me, it did not on a slightly older computer. So a word of caution to those who may not have purchased a computer within say the last 2 years or so. Additionally, you are given 2 screen resolutions to choose from. Neither gave me a totally smooth graphics (although they are good enough to still enjoy the game).

Overall, this is fast paced fun for fans of "Weakest Link" TV game show and its host Anne Robinson.

Goodbye (evil wink).

Summary: ANNE, YOU ROCK!!!
Review: Even though I've never even seen the show, I've had an interest in this game and had to get it. It's the best trivia game since WWTBAM. It's also great to know that there's a lot more questions; so far I have not gotten any repeats. I would recommend this game to any trivia fanatic.

Summary: the best pc game show ever!
Review: Excellent game. The most replay value you can get for under ... bucks, easily. A must have for game show fanatics or regular gamers alike. I liked but this game is a helluva lot more fun as well as being suspenseful. Attaboys go out to Activision for a quality inexpensive pc game.

Summary: You ARE the Weakest Link... Goodbye!
Review: Feisty Anne Robinson scolds and punishes us in this brilliant and fun remake of the successful Brit import game show "The Weakest Link".

A wonderful recreation of the actual TV game show, we are forced to undergo everything actual contestants endure on the show; time pressured questions, stupid team mates, and a sultry school marm berating us all the way.

The voting is fun. I have yet to deduce any set patterns in voting from my fellow team mates. Truly, they surprise me regularly during the game, and I too have fallen under the wrath of being voted out of the game.

The questions challenging, and some are easy, and after regular play for about two weeks, I am not getting a blaze of repeated questions yet as it happens in some other games. you can adjust question difficulty, as well as the types of questions asked.

One glitch: I was disappointed that I had to choose a character to become, rather than being me, but you find someone like yourself and still go along for fun.

I highly recommend this game for any Weakest Link fans and those daring enough to undergo Anne's wicked glare.

Summary: Very disappointed!
Review: Graphics are pretty bad, contestants are square and they move very jerky. Gives me a headache. It looks like a game from 10 years ago! And, it is very boring when you play by yourself or with just a few players. Who Wants To Be A Milionare PC game is a lot better!

Summary: Improvision of The Show
Review: Great game! One problem I had was that I didn't have a good video card, and you need a GOOD one that supports 3D graphics. If not, it will appear blank when the announcer introduces the contestants, etc. Plus the question and possible answers might not show up if you don't. It looks great!

There are three "Modes" in the game.

1 - Normal - Exactly like the T.V. Show. You have about 4 choices to choose from but only starting with 1 letter of the correct response, not so much to give it away.
2 - Easy - This option gives you 4 choices to choose from, including the whole word. A teenager/young adult could play this with ease.
3 - Junior - This option gives you 2 answers to choose from. The EASIEST. A 2-year-old could play this mode and win.

Overall, I give it a 4 star, because Anne repeatedly says the same things like "Coherently, you have gotten rid of all the Weakest Links, and you still banked only this much."

Summary: BETTER THAN MILLIONAIRE
Review: I bought Weakest Link after I was so disappointed with the Who wants to be a millionaire cdrom series when I first heard that The Weakest Link was going to be released in a cdrom I just had to have it. Weakest Link is my favorite show in the world next to Who wants to be a Millionaire and I had found the game a lot of fun to play. My favorite part is the beginning intro video that since I got it I've mouthed the entire intro a thousand times. I actually got to the finals but I was the weakest player and got voted off and so far no problems with it. Even my cousins liked it when I played the multiplayer version with them{By the way is a little confusing} My only suggestion would be a face maker like on the Hasbro Games so you can create your likeness. So don't delay buy this game,
Regis
{TIP} If you want an easy way to win and not get voted off. Play the junior mode}

Summary: it's an interesting simulation
Review: I like this game but cannot in all fairness give it an unqualified recommendation. The synchronization between the audio and video, particularly when Anne is speaking, could be better. In spite of running the game on a loaded Pentium 4 system, I could not get crisp video resolution no matter how the monitor was configured, especially for the opening movie segment. Although the box suggests the game could work on a Pentium 200, I originally installed it on an AMD K6-2 450 and lost the picture just when it was time to "meet the team". The game ran slowly on a Pentium III 450mhz. In single-player format, when one of the computer-generated opponents is voted off, this opponent, game in and game out, makes the same final remarks after taking the walk. (There is an option to increase player abusiveness, which I have not yet tried.) If you get to play the last round for the money, which I accomplished twice in about 12 tries (losing $275,000 and $150,000), there are no closing remarks by either the winner or runner-up. Concerns have been raised about the overall quality of the graphics, particularly the expressions and body movement of the players. I think there could be some room for improvement here.

One feature of the game allows in my view for a little bit of cheating. When presented with a question, you have just enough time to read it, and decide whether or not you have a reasonable chance of coming up with the correct answer, before banking.

Several aspects of the game I think are very successful. The audio generally is very realistic compared to the show. Anne is as charming as a wasp. The overall high speed of play is intimidating; alertness and concentration are essential, and the nasty business of voting has to be done with care. As in the show, you need a bit of luck as well as skill, as you can get voted off even if you are not the worst player. As a rule the team either votes one player off in a landslide or the result is very close. The rendering of the stage set is effective.

Overall I think the game is great fun, but I hope the next version of it will have some fine tuning here and there. Recommended.

Summary: Problems running the game
Review: I love the concept of a Weakest Link game, but the program does not run properly on either my Gateway 233 MHz laptop running Windows 98 or my Sony 750 MHz laptop running Windows ME. The program runs too fast, so the characters' comments jumble together, and I only get 25 seconds to play each round instead of a few minutes.

Activision's customer support was friendly, but they had no suggestions for fixing the problem other than waiting for them to release a patch or an updated version if enough people have problems running it. I would not recommend purchasing this software until a patch or new version is released. However, I am looking forward to playing it again once that happens.
