Summary: Buggy but fun
Review: First off a caveat: This game is riddled with bugs! If you're using old (as in more than 6 months old) drivers for your video card, sound card or even (in my case) your microsoft keyboard then prepare to have a really bad time with getting this game to run more than a few hours. However, with some effort (and a phone call to Interplay's UK tech Support hotline) I've been able to work around most of these and when it works I think it's great fun.
I like the older (movie) style vessels and as a player of Star Fleet Battles (the board game) in the 80's it was like a trip back to my sad, geeky youth. If it had been shipped in a better state or if a decent patch was available I'd have given it 3.5 stars.
When it becomes a budget (10 quid) title then pick it up and have a go!

Summary: cool game - great improvment
Review: I've played already the "Armada 1" game and I enjoyed it very much but it had many problems in subjects like: graphicks, interface and bugs.
From the info that I read in the syte of "Armada 2" the improvmentsare very extensive:
the gameplay is now in complete 3D, the bugs were minimized and solved, the campaigns are now far bigger and more detailed(9 missions per race), you have two times more ships than in 'Armada 1"(very iportent-you w'ontget board from the game) and the graphics is now really beautiful.
There are also several good things in armada 2 that you won't find in any other strategy game like:
1. many subsistems to asingle ship (life-support, engines, sensors, weapons and shilds). 2. crew in yoar starships (no crew no starship). 3. very large differnses between the races and their capabilitis.

Summary: The Best Star Trek Game Yet!!
Review: Star Trek Armada 2 looks really great. The Galaxy class seperation saucer and the new warp drives are going to make moving an entire fleet easier. Also you can occupy planets. The Borg now have a fusion cube that looks unstoppable! And the new species 8472 bio ships will give the Borg hecka problems. I'm also keeping an eye on the new Intrepid class for the Federation. I can't wait till November! You gotta get this game. Reserve now or you might not get one!!!

Summary: No good if it doesn't work on your computer.
Review: This game will not work on newer computers. Even though tech support sent directions to allow me to play the game it still didn't work.

Summary: Bow to the master.
Review: When it comes to gaming the Star Trek Franchise has had it's ups an downs. Primarily the downs. But Armada 1 was different. That and Elite Force, I can safely say to this date [...], were the most solid star trek game on the market. All the other developers created products that didn't play well, or didn't finish in time. But from the looks of it, Armada II might as well be finished. It's nice that the developers have set the release date in Winter 2001, giving them plenty of time to make it perfect. [....] I guarantee this game will blow you away!

Summary: It's a little noisy...
Review: It's a lot of fun except for the noise problem. We aren't able to play this game for more than 20 minutes without the sound going birzerkers! A horrible sound starts that covers all the dialogue. I have tried multiple times to get support from the vendor, but can't get through. If I could find the fix for this problem, I'd rate the game at 5 stars. Maybe it's because it's an old game and we have a new PC.

Summary: TOOOOOO good
Review: this is going to be the best star trek & stratigy game out and that is before it is finnished so just think what is will be like when it is. i've seen a heck of a lot of pics and data on this game and if anyone out there thought Armada 1 was good well i say this is 100 times better and with a 3D battle field, ships, stations, nebulae and planets what else could you ask for in a game {dont answer ;p }.

this is a must for stratigy fans as well as star trek fans

Summary: Review Orion Pirates
Review: Please save your money and get the updated no bugs version of this game. This software has so many bugs you will be truly disappointed. Orion Pirates plays easily for about 7 or 8 missions and then errors pop up everywhere and the game shuts itself down. Then while doing something else on your computer after playing this game, it will blue screen error on you and you’ll have to shut down your system and reboot. Though the graphics are great and the new ships are really cool. The most exciting new Federation mission is Wrath of Kahn but it doesn’t even work at all. Wrath of Kahn runs for about two minutes and then shuts itself off and sends you back to the main menu. I tried reinstalling this software about 15 times and resetting my computer but the game always had the same problems. I have sent mine back to Amazon.com with complaints. Interplay should be really embarrassed by having released such terrible work. In addition to all the bugs listed in the Readme file that comes with the game there are plenty of bugs they don’t tell you about. The direct X 8 version comes with the game but if you don’t have the latest video and audio drivers for your system, you may have to download those for yourself to make the game work. All in all this was a little bit more trouble than I was willing to go though and caused way to many problems on my system. If video and audio drivers are going to be a problem then Interplay should have made this game to work with older drivers. My video and audio drivers worked just fine with Starfleet Command II Empires at War. The readme file tells you that your drivers may be the problem if the game doesn't work well. So why put out a game where everyone has to download some stupid drivers before they can play? Boy I'm [mad].
