Summary: Close But No Cigar
Review: I just got this game from one of my friends (it didn't work onhis computer) I installed it i thought it would be one of the better games i've played. It was for awhile but after i got into some of the later missions i started to figure things out like.. 1. It's a dos game! And they're aren't many people who use anymore 2.The multiplayer option (MercNet) is impossible to use in windows 95 i had to quit windows to set it up and i still couldn't get it to work! 3.The mission editior could be more user Friendly (who am i kidding the directions to copy it to the hardrive don't work) In conclusion if you want a good single player game stick with this (unless you're a computer freak)...

Summary: I love the smell of Particle Cannons in the Morning!
Review: I must say, being a newbie to the battletech universe, I found the plot of this game to be easy to swallow. It is too easy to become enveloped in the conflicts between the Federated Commonwealth and Free Rasalhague Republic, etc. Keeping up with costs and managing reairs make the game all the more real, at the ned of the day, you are just a businessman, so remember that. The gameplay is truly enjoyable. Initially I had a slow computer, and played the game at low graphic detail, complete with stuttering etc. Once I upgraded, I was so impressed with the graphics at full bore, that I played the game through twice again. The mechs are relatively easy to control and reaslistic, by that I mean that the larger mechs such as the atlas are slow and cumbersome, while mechs like the Timber wolf are fast agile and deadly. Gameplay is literally a blast, nowhere in any other ground combat sim can you achieve the satisfaction of alpha striking your enemy and watch them blow to pieces in front of you! The AI level is also impressive, with your enemies not that easy to kill. Overall, even though it is now superceded by Mech3,an excellent combat sim, which will keep you at it continuously. This has a place on the shelf of all dedicated combat sim gamers.

Summary: A Mechwarrior since the begining
Review: i've play'd every mechwarrior games they've made, and i have to say that this was by far one of the best. you can pick your own missions, buy the mechs you want, hire the lance mates u want, spend your cash how u want, and so on. some people complained that it didn't give you everything you needed at the begining, (like all the mechs and all the guns) thats cause you are one lone mechwarrior you wouldn't realy own all the guns and all the mechs, you are starting at the bottom, and in the end of the game you rise to the top. its just as much work on the battle feild as in the mech bay. the graphics aren't the most spectacular out there, but the game play is awsome. next to mechwarrior 4 i have to say this is one of the best Mech games out there.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: The game play was good, but there were some serious gaffs. For instance, if you shoot both of a mech's legs out, it should fall over, not blow up. Also, if you disable a mech by knocking it down, the game should not force you do totally destroy it before the scenario is over. You can't get any salvage from something that explodes. And salvage, for a mercenary, is highly important. The original version of MechWarrior knew about this, why not in this version? Some other "fun" problems are where it doesn't let you decide how many mechs you can take on a mission. If you are the Merc company commander, you should bloody well be able to decide how many you want to bring along. There are also some scenarios that automatically destroy the legs on your lance mates before they even move. All in all I stopped playing the game due to the problems and felt that it wasn't worth the money I spent on it.

Summary: Good Idea--Poor Results
Review: The very idea of getting into a high-tech 100 ton killing machine for the sole purpose of earning money is brilliant! Choosing from 1 of over 30 mechs and being able to custimize them with a plethora of devistation weapons is almost half the fun in itself! Being able to hire and fire lancemates and deciding which contracts to accept for large sums of cash gives you the feeling of a real mercinary commander. Unfourtunatly thats where the fun stops. The graphics stink horribly to put it nicely. The game play interface is decently done but with a few oddities. The real thing that gets me about this game is how short it is! I finished the whole game in litterally 3 days--and I'm not one of those fanatics who spends every waking hour infront of this computer! The game takes you into this final battle for some city and like the whole fate of the world depends on you or something. Weather you win or lose the mission, the battle is lost anyway and the game is over. Possibly one of the worst endings ever. And ontop of that, the missions are either way too easy and a waste of time or they're impossibly hard and also a waste of time for how many tries it takes to complete it. I haven't played any other mechwarrior games but they have to be better than this. To bad...this was such a good idea.

Summary: by FAR the best Mechwarrior game
Review: This game is by far the best mechwarrior game in the industry. It was done by Activision and FASA instead of Microsoft and FASA. What is absolutly great about this game is the online feature known as MercNet. Anyone else who dissed this game is way out of their league because they have no idea what they are talking about. Take the person who said that MercNet was no good and that it was a dos game. There are so many patches for the game which fix it and if you get the good patch it will completly carry the game over to your windows system. Also what is so great about MercNet is that you actually get to know people. On the Zone...the multiplayer function of Mech3 and Mech4... you never get to know people. There are like a billion people on the server at the same time so you can't even keep up a conversation due to everyone else talking. On MercNet the limits to each of the rooms are 30 people max and they still don't fill up. So bottom line is that cut all the technology, the dazzling graphics of Mech3 and Mech4 you get a lame game. If you want the most of a Mechwarrior game then you have to get this one.

Summary: money
Review: This game is really cool. I especially enjoyed how you had to buy your mechs. You could also hire people to help you win the missions. But once you win the game you never want to play it again. its boring.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: This game is so good!!!1!!!!!!!! (I'm a cheater at this game) But at least I can whip butt!!!! The graphics are yeah, sort of horrible and unrealistic, but the rest is very cool. My favorite mech is probably the Kodiak. It powers up so well and destroys easily. THe missions are sort of hard too. Plus, there is gladiator fights. 4 mechs, and 1 shall move on. The are hard to destroy too. Unless with the Arrow IV. Naga is a good one. Plus, it can be used for 98 but I don't know about the others. DUDE!!!! THis game is better than some gameboy games!!!. Music is also cool too!!

Summary: One step ahead
Review: This is one of the best mechwarrior games if not the best. It lets you start your own merc band or join one if your a newbie. Full of intense gameplay and beautiful graphics. All things considered this game is one step ahead of the compitition.
