Rating: Summary: Oh...My...God -Janice, Friends Review: Awesome! Very educational. Tastes good. Smells like fresh roses on a rainy day. This is the best first person shooter since Half-Life! The second level is really nasty. this is still a great game. I like to smell paint. -Tom, John
Rating: Summary: The guy who thought that SoF was like Blood2 is wrong Review: The whole reason that this game is so great is because we havescripted cutscenes that keep you in the game the entire time, muchlike Half-Life. The graphics are terrific, and here we have a game where limbs can actually come off one at a time, or weapons and/or equipment can be shot off. The accuracy of a few of the weapons is borderline ridiculous, but when you figure in the fact that this game is one of the first to have time-delay bullet impacts, it evens out. If you are trying to circle someone in multiplayer, you have to correct for their movement and shoot where they are going to be, and not where they are. There isn't a ridiculous storyline, and everything in the game could have happened. There were no aliens and no secretly developed weapons. Just nukes. Sure, the microwave gun is a little out there, but weapons like that gun exist and have the same effect, albeit to a lesser extent. It's not necessarily filled with the exotic visuals as Half-Life was, and it doesn't have the multiplayer variability that Unreal Tournament does, but UT was built around multiplay. Soldier of Fortune was built around the life, realism, and possible work of a real man named John Mullins. This is what they tried to simulate, and they succeeded wonderfully. People who can't appreciate this game are in the wrong PC game genre.
Rating: Summary: gutz, blood, and no cheese Review: if normal games of shoot them up bores you that buy this game. it's so intencly hardcore i find it to be the perfect release. i get home from work and make stuff die. you should too!
Rating: Summary: The Next Generation of Games! Review: When the demo of thi game came out I was pumped. Then i playedthe demo, a bit dissapointed. So I had a few extra bucks to spend so Ibought SoF. Was I dissapointed? HECK NO!This game is cutting edge technology! Using an upgraded version of the QuakeIII engine, Ghoul, it gives the most splended graphics any game has had so far. There are many weapons. A lot of weapons you must actually slavage off the battlefield. Most weapons deliver a massive punch, and some dont. Each one is very fun to play around with esspecially the Heavy Machine Gun (If you've played the demo and seen the cut scene, the soldiers dressed in black have them). Multiplayer isn't anything special, and it shouldn't really interest anyone. One thing I found rather interesting about this game is that when you have a feeling that you are going to beat the game, some guy coms up with more objectives and you go on some more suicide missions. Overall this game is a super game and it should se the benchmark for ANY FPSs coming out in the near and far future. END
Rating: Summary: Truely a great game Review: I'm not really a fan of games like Quake, but I'd heard so muchabout SoF that I HAD to download the demo (90MB!). Once installed itBLEW me away. Great graphics, great sound, it had everything I was looking for. There's one minor thing I don't like about SoF, and that's the Multiplayer Option, the servers are too slow. And sometimes the loading takes really long. But if you're looking for a great game, buy it. And I'm sure Raven or Activision will solve the MultiPlayer problem soon. So all I can say is, BUY THIS GAME :)
Rating: Summary: GAME OF A LIFETIME Review: This is a truly terrific game. It's graphic description of combat violence is what makes it such a great game. Though the violence is too graphic in some situations, it is still a fun game to play because it is real. No demons, aliens, or anything like that. It is people vs. people. Realistic weapons and items along with great AI for the enemies makes this my GAME OF A LIFETIME. If you're considering buying this game for yourself or for another, buy it. The parental lock makes it so the player can still play this realistic game without all of the carnage included. John Mullins is God
Rating: Summary: Gore, Action, a nice Single Player Review: This is a game like Quake, but with an awesome single player game, coupled with a fun multiplayer experience. SOF's GHOUL system which has 26 "gore" points makes for a game of blood, violence, and fun. Players' reactions differ, but can be quite repetitive after a while. Shoot them in the hand, their hands fall off, shoot them in the head, their heads blow off (you get the picture) The only gripe I can think of is the lack of multiplayer servers. Unlike Quake with my 35 ping, I'm stuck with pings in the range of 150 - 250. Let's hope more servers are put up in the future.
Rating: Summary: just like Blood 2...and not much better Review: Well....it is a gory game with good graphics and nice AI, a good story blablabla....but....it is still somehow the same as Blood2 (also from Raven, what an accident). You are in a Subway (like in Blood2), you shoot the bad guys (like in Blood2), you have the same Weapons (like in Blood2) and well....the storyline...hehe...people who shoot others in the head do not need a big story behind it....it is anyway always the same story (there is a bad gang terrorizing the city; there are bad scientists making the most deadful weapon; there are aliens; who have to be shot at and so on). So what's the deal? You get a nice shooting game with good graphics and nice sounds and a gore level higher than in any other game. That's it. And it's not bad, but it is also not as great as the other reviewers describe it. I stick to Quake3 and/or Unreal Tournament. Sorry Raven, it is just a Shooting game in an Ocean full of shooting games.
Rating: Summary: This is a Game of the Year! Review: I have played almost every 1st person shooter out there. When Half-Life came around, it blew all the rest away. When UT came out, it took the lead. Move over you guys. A new ones in now. SoF! The best one of them all! This game has everything that a 1st person fan will love. Realistic violence, great story/plot, and tons of non-stop action! If you thought RogueSpear was good, this is your next game! This, out of all games, is definitly a Game of the Year on my list.
