Summary: Its Half-Life but in the future
Review: ... This is a great game in the tradition of Half-Life but still falls short of the greatness which Half-Life attained. I guess then I should start off with why I gave it 4 stars instead of five.

First the game is still based on the HL engine. While still being a good engine to use it is starting to show its age. HL came out about 2-3 years ago and FPS engines have had a drastic over haul in that time. The game still looks great and plays great though.

Secondly the levels are a little too short for me. I played it for a couple hours last night and I am already on the 3rd planet. The box says that there are 4 immense worlds to explore and well I haven't done much exploring to say the least and the worlds are not immense at that. Hopefully the 4th world will be a little bigger. Ya the story line is a little hokey but its better than many I have seen.

Well other than those two gripes the game shines. Each of the weapons has several functions with situations calling on your use of those various functions sometime throughout each level. The enemies are quite varied and fit in with the planet and its surroundings and their AI is pretty good.

I should say that I haven't played online yet with it so I am not going to comment on its multiplayer functions yet so this review may seem a little premature but I was here and what the hey...I wrote it.

Overall this is a fun game and if you like HL and Unreal then you will enjoy this game....

Summary: Great 3D shooter
Review: At first it could be easy to overlook this product, as it is a total-conversion of the classic Half Life that was created by a group of new programers the world over. Many of the team had not even met one another as they worked on the project. That being said, they game is fantastic, the work that resulted is a fantastic 3D action shooter, with an enjoyable storyline. The player is cast in the role of Archer, the new leader of the Gunman. The Gunman battle enemies in the galaxy keeping it safe for colonization. The General of the Gunman was lost in a mission years ago, and in the time sense, deadly alien Xenomes have been raiding the colonies and killing all they find. Before long, Archer is deep in the mix, and being assaulted of all manner of creatures, in a all out war for survival and to end the Xenome menace. The game is a solid program, and has a very gripping and involving story. I especially enjoyed the level where the player gets to use a tank, and the enemies are very well designed and amongst the best ever created for a 3D shooter. The weapons in the game all have multiple settings for different abilities, and this can make for some great strategy when playing online. Here is hoping for another chapter in this series in the near future.

Summary: Walker - Texas Ranger: in Space with Dinosaurs!
Review: Don't buy this game - don't even accept it as a gift. It attempts to emulate the success of HalfLife and somehow fails totally.

For example, HalfLife had a really interesting variety of weapons. Gunman has dull weapons which they've tried to make interesting by souping them up to the point of being annoying. There's one particular gun that can be configured in about 50 different ways (OK, I exagerate: it could easily be 30, though), to be a rocket launcher, grendade launcher, or tripmine, but it's such a pain to configure it that it's just not worth the effort.

And the plot. Well. I didn't stick around to see what the rest of the game was like, but the first 20 minutes or so that I played was so bad, I couldn't stop laughing. HalfLife's plot was convincing and believable, Gunman was like an badly written episode of Walker Texas Ranger.

The graphics were also pretty ugly, but after the problems with the weapons and plot, who'll notice?

Summary: Gunman Chronicles
Review: Gunman Chronicles is a first person shooter created on the Half Life build engine. Almost everything from the graphics, sound effects and the interface is the same as Half Life, When minimised to the tray the tray bar says Half Life. The storyline in gunmen is heavily inspired by Half Life and System Shock II, You play Major Archer of the gunman force, Gunmans are a kind of soldiers who battle against aliens, Years ago some gunmen fought a battle against an alien invation and their general was killed in that battle. That is before the game starts and now five years later the aliens are back and now you must take your troops and destroy the alien life forms, And surprise. You have to explore four different planets before meeting the final baddie, The A.I in gunmen is very good and like system shock II a computer AI will help you along. On your way you have to fight gaurds dressed like cowboys, Dinos, Aliens, Crocodiles, Shoot a copter with a rocket launcher, Drive a tank ect, You would meet scientist also but they will not help you sometimes they might attack you. Gunmen has some nice twist and turns to keep you intrested in the single player experiance, Just like half life the game starts with you taking a train ride but you need to take a training course before advancing to the main game. A training level in games is really great but that being a must and making it a part of the story and as if the training is for the main charecter is very silly, because the instructor says "Press your use key", things like that. The bad things in GC is that it is quite short and liner, The graphics are also bad and dated. Gunman has a lot of weapons and almost all of them have four types of firing but most of them are not intresting, The voice acting is not as good as half life. The ending is quite disappointing, I didnt expect the final showdown to be this easy and after what happenes in the final battle i felt that major archer is not the hero of the game something else is and all this time i was playing the hero's sidekick. The big boss is very disappointing i expected some other monstor to be the final baddie. And that it is so similar to Half Life that you could call it Half Life : Gunman Chronicles. Even though gunman has nothing new and quite dissapointing, It is great to see amatures create a game like this.

Summary: The truth about Gunman
Review: Gunman chronicles is a great game, no lie. It weapons and models are great even though they are built on the Half-life engine...Just like halflife GC is a great single player game. It is a wee bit easier than halflife because many of the enemy troops lack artificial inteligence but you will get clobbered by things that you could never see coming. So buy this game, it truely is great.

Summary: HL:Gunman Chronicles Review
Review: Gunman Chronicles is an add-on to the original half-life game. So it's won't work without it.
The game's graphics are far from being top-notch and the story isn't that great either. It doesn't really fit in the half-life universe.
But still, this is one of the best games I've ever played! It gives you a nice feeling, and creates a great atmosphere! Enemy population is quite diverse and so are the many weapons that you can change their firing rate, style and so. It also has some drivable vehicles like tanks.
If you're a FPS and/or half-life fan, I definetly recommend this game!

Summary: A good first person shooter
Review: Gunman chronicles shows it's heritage from Valve. The game engine and graphics appear right out of half-life. There is a patch for 3dfx video boards. The patch provides open GL and glide support. The AI is better than half-life. Characters have a greater ability to move with the scenes. The story lines and scenes could use more work. It's certainly worth a few rainy afternoons of play.

Summary: National Lampoon's Half Life
Review: Gunman is a..clone of half life. The graphics and sound are dated, it's short, buggy and.., the AI is good but it uses half life's AI. It should be called National Lampoon's half life or Carry on half life.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good Games fallen short
Review: Gunman is sadly one of those great games that never makes it big. The story line takes you to unexpected ends of the universe, once you depart from one planet, you never know where you might end up. The games difficulty is just so that you would rather keep playing after failling a mission rather then giving up for awhile. After playing for awhile and looking back at all youve shot your way threw and came across, you notice just how large and intense the game really is. The graphics arnt that off date and the game is really fun, a great buy for such a low price.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Where is the rest of it?
Review: I became a big fan of Valve's work when I played Half-Life, which had an involved story-line that seamlessly blended the action with the plot. Although Gunman Chronicles has a pretty weak story line, it still managed to keep me interested. The graphics are what you would expect from Half-Life, with a few new features, like cutomizable weapons and a tank you can drive. The down side is, the game is VERY short. I beat the game in less than fifteen hours of game time. I'm quite disappointed. This would get a stronger rating if it weren't for the length.
