Summary: Total Immersion
Review: Of all the first person shooters inexistance, very few surround you with the level immersion as does Unreal. First the levels are not like indivisual levels. You dont beat a level and boom, your at the beginning of the next. The transitions are much more smooth from one level to another, with nothing but a brief pause indicating your entry. If you can manage the system requirement, there simply is no better game graphic-wise. The textures are rich and intricate and the use of effect are stunning. The intro alone is breathtaking. The most important part of immersion (in my opinion) is ambient sounds, not music, those little sounds you hear as you hack your way through the world. The screeching birds, the eery far off screams of poor souls, and every other little chirp or squeak or grunt. They are simply perfect. Try keeping your mouth closed the first time you play the game when you have to witness a horrendous murder befor you can pass the door. In conclusion, there is only one word to describe this game...Unreal...

Summary: Move Over Quake 2 (and 3)
Review: Okay, I happen to be a mac owner and this game is unlike anything I have ever played before. The graphics are unreal. The weapons give a quality of uniqueness and power unlike any other game before. Why have a shotgun when you can shoot boiling hot shards of metal splatting your opponent's insides on the wall. This game isn't just a meaningless shooter, it carries traits of adventure games too. IE: Floating down a clear blue stream of trickeling water on a canoe admiring the waterfall's all while doing a drive-by (float-by) on some unexpecting Skaarj. Thats the stuff.

Summary: OK GAME
Review: THE GAME IS FUN, BUT PRETTY MUCH THE SAME AS QUAKE II. GET A VOODOO2 CARD AND SEE WHAT I MEAN BY QUAKE HAVING JUST AS EXCELLENT GRAPHICS. BESIDES, SOMEONE SAID THAT IT IS SO GOOD THAT THEY CAN'T BEAT IT. WELL I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I DON'T WANT A GAME THAT I CAN'T BEAT! GOOD GAME, BUT NOTHING YOU HAVEN'T SEEN BEFORE.

Summary: Unreal is great, but not like Quake II
Review: The shots are not real in Unreal, but grafics and pictures are very beautiful and detaileds. Here in Brazil is a success.

Summary: Better than Doom and Quake
Review: The simple thing that makes this thing better than Quake and Doom is the bot match. You can play against 15 computer players and have a kill fest. You get to see beautiful terrain if you stop from killing the few creatures. The enemies know to run away from you and they know when to shoot you. This game is a more realistic game than Doom and Quake. I love it, and anyone who says Doom is better should get a better computer and see which one adds up as the better.

Summary: Quake? Huh?
Review: This 3d shooter is astounding! The graphics grab Quake2 by the hair and drag it in the dirt! Walking up to a wall reveals fine detail, not an out-of-focus blur that makes you want to have your eyes checked. The textures themselves are very detailed and quite colorful, making the gamer wonder why he ever put up with Quake2's 'variety.' The beautiful textures work very well with the ambient sounds and dramatic lighting to create a real sense of atmosphere. The background of chanting in a temple made of exquisite stone draws you out of the seat in front of the computer and into the temple, facing a detailed Nali as he meditates and suddenly vanishes with a flash of light.

Of course, why watch the Nali meditate, when there is probably a Skaarj waiting around the corner to ambush you. Pull out that eight-ball cannon, load it up with 6 rockets, and nuke the bad guy (or just sneak around and shoot him in the head with your high-powered sniper rifle). The enemies are intelligent, dodging your rockets and balls of slime with ease. Of course, you find it almost intuitive to jump out of the way of his fire balls, and the controls are plenty smooth to handle your jumping in fear, which happens often.

Ah, multiplayer. Traditional quakers will find the multiplay in Unreal slow and thoughtful. Gone are the one-shot kills (unless you take the time to aim at the guy's head with the rifle), and the feeling of death all around is absent. After a good game of Quake deathmatch, Unreal deathmatch almost seems like a game of chess. There is no one weapon that covers every situation, and none of the weapons are as powerful as the Quake rocket launcher, so one on one battles last much longer, keeping the gameplay very tense. Whether you prefer Unreal to Quake deathmatch depends on what type of person you are, but I find both enjoyable.

In the beginning, the internet play was dismall, lag was predominant, and the second long pause between pressing the trigger and actually shooting predominated, but that problem has fortunately been eradicated, though you'll have to download the latest patch to enjoy the improvement.

To sum up: if you like any 3d shooters, you'll probably like Unreal, and if you haven't played a 3d shooter, Unreal is a good one to cut your teeth on.

Summary: Ultimate Graphics
Review: This game is fun to play just for looking at all of the scenery. I enjoy all the brilliant colors and the array of monsters to kill. This is a Quake-type game but is better in everyway except the weapons. Just plain fun.

Summary: Days of nonstop action
Review: This game is one of the best I have ever seen. Although many will argue that Half-Life may be a better game, I find it annoying. There is too much story and too many things to do. Unreal, meanwhile, is a simple "shoot now, never ask questions" kind of slaughter house. But it does have a collosal story line which is revealed as the game progresses. The AI will make you sweat as you try to outmaneuver and outshoot (not to mention outrun) a horde of enemies as you fight for your life. The weapons are unique, and somewhat strange, but they suit their purpose. The enemies are many and visious. Also, note that it may take you at least a solid week to beat the game even on easy (that's assuming you are really good! ). Enjoy!

Summary: Coffee...food...help me
Review: This game is so addictive, I have considered giving up my job just to get to the next level. This is the first serious shoot 'em up game I've purchased, and I LOVE it. And I am a 51 year old woman,so imagine what it will do for younger folks who play it. The graphics are so good, you might get killed by some ungodly creature because you were standing around like an idiot, staring at your surroundings. Get this game. You will not be disappointed.
