Rating: Summary: The good finally gets better. Well, a little better, anyway. Review: My reviews of DF1 and DF2 set out a list of my criticisms and compliments about the "Delta Force" series in general. To a large extent they remain applicable to "Land Warrior", but thankfully this time there are some notable improvements. The basic format remains unchanged, i.e. a series of independent "quick missions" as well as some related "campaign missions." The basic layout of the interface screens also stays the same, but with some nicer graphics. Gone, however, is the multiple assault team format of DF1 and 2, which typically resulted (due to poor AI) in your buddies getting dead in a hurry. Now most missions focus solely on one character, whom the player chooses before the mission. This main character sometimes gets support from one or two other operatives, who tend to survive a bit longer (but not too much longer) and contribute a bit more than did their counterparts in DF1 and 2. One of my favorite improvements is in the size of the available arsenal. The weapon selection is much larger than in DF1 and DF2, and includes the new OICW assault rifle. Additionally, your character gets to carry a main weapon, a secondary weapon (such as a submachine gun) and a sidearm, whereas in earlier versions there was no secondary weapon. This increases your available firepower and your versatility very noticeably. The AI is improved somewhat (but not enough, in my opinion), and the bad guys tend to shoot straighter (if not faster) than they did in the first two versions. Still, to a great extent they still spend too much time standing in one place, so there is still a fair bit of weakness in the enemy's responsive actions. The wide terrain areas remain one of the most enjoyable features of the Delta Force series. In LW, though, the buildings (with a few notable exceptions, like the Egyptian pyramids) tend to all look alike after awhile... because they are all alike. The missions tend to have a more individualized feel to them, unlike those of DF1 and 2, which started to all seem the same after playing just a few of them. In a nutshell, Land Warrior is a nice improvement over previous Delta Force offerings, although a few of the old drawbacks remain. Nevertheless, this is the best of the series, and definitely some good fun. Try it and you'll probably like it.
Rating: Summary: As Close As It Gets Review: This game is a straight forward, "First Person Shooter." I've played other FPS's to be sure, but have yet to experince the realism and "ease of play" of Delta Force 3. I mean, "true realism." This game is by far the best of the DF series. There are no fancy nonsense, gadgets or weapons, here. Unlike DF1&2, besides your main weapon of choice you also have your secondary weapon of choice plus your side arm. ALSO -- and this is GREAT! -- If you need a quick frag change during game play the game allows you the option to exchange weapons with most dropped weapons on the battlefield -- including having a wack at a fixed weapon such as a belt fed Browning .50 or Mk19 grenade launcher. Good stuff. Game graphics are outstanding when compared to the two earlier versions of DF. I see no difference when comparing the graphics to Half-Life, Soldier of Fortune, or any other FPS. (Probably the same engine <?>) This game sings along easily on a 650 Athlon and Voodoo 3 video card. The game is also very detailed and advanced toward ballistics. Which brings out the beauty of DF3: What you see is what you get. The weapons are just as realistic as any FPS out there. Even the "sound," ballistic and firing rate of the weapons are authentic. Could they be better? Sure. But there isn't another game out there that is as authentic when real world weapons are concerned. If you're a GI or a firearms enthusiast this is as good as it gets . . . at the moment. Another OUTSTANDING feature of this game is this: The game is easy to load, and easy to manipulate. The learning curve on this bad boy is short so you can hop right into the action with realitive ease. It is MUCH easier to master than other FPS's I've played. The cons of DF3 are definitely outweighted by the pros. One problem I've run across is the inaccuracy of the Browning .50 cal -- a very accurate weapon. Trivial stuff but those of us who love "Ma Deuce" have found this disappointing. This concern would not be "big deal" if it wasn't for the fact other weapons in the inventory are so detailed when accuracy is concerned. And, I must admit, the azimuth/travers for both the tripod mounted Browning .50 cal and Mk19 are restricted to about twenty <!> degrees. Why? I wouldn't know. But it is a disappointment. One other problem I have experinced is "logging on, getting up and going" with On Line play. No r-e-a-l "problems" other than you just can't jump into it without setting things up. It takes a little time; more than normal, I'd say. However, small stuff that I have yet to master. And again, admittedly trivial when compared to the game as a whole. In short: [This is a key phrase, here] For anyone who is interested in real world, US Army Special Force's game play in a FPS, or anyone interested in straight forward, no nonsense missions with real world weapons -- this game is a must. Have you ever been playing a game and you say to yourself, "Gimme a break!" or "What a joke?" The only surprises you will experience in this game are pleasant ones. Single missions or online -- it's a lot of fun and you won't be disappointed. And if there is another FPS out there that is as authentic in real world missions and weapons -- I haven't found it.
Rating: Summary: Better graphics, but same problems. Review: I just bought this game today and wanted to throw in my two cents worth. I have several comments and criticisms, but I'll keep it short for the sake of space. The graphics are 20 times better than the first two. The only thing is, there are still several of the same limitations on the playability that have plagued the first two games as well. Ammo for one thing. if you run out you're screwed since you can't pick any up from the people you've killed in the game. Also often times when you get to the end of a mission it seems like you're just stuck with dead time and no way to end the mission. One of my biggest annoyances with the first two Delta Force games has carried over into this game as well. The AI is horrible. Now realistically, if you are sniping an enemy camp, what are the chances 20 soldiers will be able to lock onto you instantly. Well, that's what happens in all three Delta Force games, you fire one shot from where you are hiding and no matter how well you've hidden yourself, you have everybody in the camp firing straight at you. It takes the reality and a lot of the fun out of the game. Overall a great game graphically except for the weapons, which look like they don't belong in the picture at all, but needs a ton of work on the AI. The Delta Force games have all had the potential to be outstanding games, but unfortunately for us gamers, the programmers haven't taken advantage of it.
Rating: Summary: Does this game rock? I don't know.... Wish I did. Review: I felt obligated to write my experiences regarding DFLW. Is it a good game? I don't know. My PC meets or exceeds all requirements, but it HARD CRASHes every time I try to load a mission. ANY mission. Support from Novalogic? Well.... Let me put it this way: ME: Novalogic, please help. This game crashes my PC whenever I try to load any mission. It gives me a blue screen error pointing to a file associated with my video card, a Savage/IX. I'm running Win2K, SP1, etc., etc. Half Life, Counter Strike, Quake 3, etc. all work flawlessly on this PC. Novalogic: Upload latest drivers for your video card. ME: Ok, but how do you know I don't have the latest? <I upload newest drivers, still crashes> Novalogic: Make sure the drivers are certified with DirectX. Use dxdiag.exe to be sure. ME: Ok. Everything shows certified. Still crashes. Novalogic: Turn off virus scanning and all other programs running. Load DirectX 8.0a (they sent DirectX 7 on the CD). ME: Ok. Still crashes. Novalogic: Upload newest drivers, bios, VIA AGP hot fix, etc. ME: Ok. Still crashes. Here is the error exactly --->XXXXXXX<--- Novalogic: Upload newest drivers, bios, VIA AGP hot fix, etc. ME: Already did, please help. Novalogic: <Flatline> The point being: if you have the chance, test this game on your system first. Just because your PC meets the requirements, doesn't mean it's going to work and Novalogic will blame your PC. They'll stall you by having you run around for newer drivers (for no reason they can back up) and not offer you any support. You want my opinion? Buy Half Life Counter Strike for online play. Sierra typically backs up what they sell....
Rating: Summary: Don't bother with this game Review: You may think this game is the best first person shooter of the year. Or you may think that this game totall sucks and is horrible. I'm closer to thinking this game totally sucks. Here's why: Don't get me wrong or anything, the graphics to everything kicks any game I've ever played, but there is a mess to the actual gameplay. The AI sucks. Big time. Everytime I go into a room with 4 or 5 guys, the realize I'm about to blow their heads off and look at me. But they don't start shooting until 4 or 5 seconds has passed, even when you shoot at them! And another thing, when you are far away and enemys are lined up, even if your crawling, the start firing like mad, sometimes without one sniper tower gaurding the area. Another thing is the game time. There are only 15 missions to do so it's not worth your money. Not to mention that your pretty much hopeless in this game without using cheats. You don't have to do it at first, but one level at least 10 guys were sniping from this bulding and they all saw me and killed me within 3 seconds, no exageration. Do me a favor and don't buy this stupid game.
Rating: Summary: Fast Action Review: A game can last a few minutes to an hour of true to life action. Gravity wind and weather all play a rule in this game for example shoot from 100 yards the shot will drop around 2 yards making it quite a fun in challenging game also the no boundries are a plus so if you get bored just run off into the woods and explore, hey you might find bigfoot.
Rating: Summary: the best 1st person shooter ever Review: Perhaps the original first person shooter games were amusing. You could play doom, or quake, where you blow up fictionally, unrealistically possessed aliens in search of human blood, or you could play the militant type games; they ranged from vietnam war scenes to hitman mob jobs, but were not quite satisfactory enough because there was never enough strategy/planning while simultaneously having an intense action feel with top graphics. Then came the delta force games, where you were a member of a top secret govt organization that is high tech, state of the art; basically the best place to be in the military. Well the first two delta force games had excellent strategy and half decent graphics, yet they could not be fully enjoyed due to imprecise landscapes and difficulty or lack of it. Delta Force Land Warrior, however, encompasses amazing 3d landscapes that extend farther then the line of sight, amazing engine that allows uninterrupted fighting sequences with intelligent, well equipped hostile opponents while you simultaneously have access to a lethal arsenal of weapons, high tech gps systems, and a team of equally well equipped members to help you through your missions. Besides containing numerous missions with many enemies and much strategy involved in completion, playing other teammates/opponents over the internet is easier than ever. After registration, all that is required is an internet provider so you can connect, and you are suddenly in a world where maps and challenging real life opponents furtherly enhance the game. Such playing modes as deathmatch, team deathmatch, king of the hill, team king of the hill, and capture the flag give any type of player access to dozens of open rooms where you can have in game chat conversations with opponents.BUY THIS GAME IT WILL BE THE BEST THING YOU EVER DID
Rating: Summary: delta force land warrior Review: This game is the best game for delta force lovers and war game players. It has the best graphics for a long time.If you like action this is the game for you.
Rating: Summary: Great game Review: Delta Force 1 was good, but Delta Force 2 [wasn't]. Now Nova Logic brings Delta Force: Land warrior... what do I think? Its the best out of the three! They improved so much on the graphics and the gameplay is sweet. The only con is that the bad guys are still as stupid as they will ever get. You can walk passed these guys 8 feet ahead and they would just stand there.... But don't let that stop you from buying the game, cuz there is also multiplayer support, which is the best part of the game!!
Rating: Summary: Not just another shoot-em-up. Review: I would give this game 4.5 stars. Unlike the earlier DF games, this one actually runs. I have both of the first two, and they hardly run, even with a 733 mHZ and GeForce. Land warrior was a lot of fun. There aren't a ton of missions, but enough to keep you busy for a while(there are probably about 20 or so). The missions aren't particularly spectacular, but the thing that makes this game so different than others is the playing field. It is the only game I know of that I can reach out and touch someone from 1000+ yards with a .50 cal. There are no outer limits to the map. Although the terrain will repeate itself if you go far enough(if you run straight for about 5 minutes non-stop), the playing field is huge, and it gives you a lot more options to complete each mission or play online. Overall, the greatest thing about this game is the distance you can go. I own other games, such as the Rainbows Six series, and it is definitely just as much fun as them, without being just another shoot-em-up game. This one is definitly worth adding to your collection.
