Rating: Summary: Great Multiplayer Review: If you're tired of all cheating and tired BS from Counter Strike this is the game to get. Eventhough the single player can be frustrating and boring the awesome multiplayer gameplay more than make up for it. Its basically CS without all the camping, AWPers, dated graphics and slow gameplay. At times the gore in single player seems pointless, but oddly enough it is very fitting in multiplayer to see your opponents torn to pieces...very satisfying too :)Great game, worth the money for multiplayer alone.
Rating: Summary: Worst game on the quake 3 arena engine Review: First off why does this game look so much worse than MOHAA, RTCW, and Jedi Outcast? Anyways the missions are boring and repetive. It has an outragous storyline. The missions don't have any real purpose until you beat the game and acually think about what you've done. The weapons are pretty close to real life. But the best feature of this game and SOF 1 is the gore. This game would be very boring without it. The muliplay is good, but it adds nothing new or revolutionary to the multiplayer enviroment. Overall is a VERY average game.
Rating: Summary: Pros and cons Review: Pros -Realistic damage to enemy bodies -nice selection of weapons and items -variety of missions (stealth, commando, etc.) -weapon animations Cons -Some what of a classic storyline (bad guy's got a super weapon and you gotta stop em) -darn near impossible to be stealthy on any mission (enemies can see you though walls if they are alerted, use infared goggles to see them back) -only 2 quiet weapons (socom pistol w/ suppressor, and knife) -visibility distance is poor (foggy on all open maps) . but the only problem is being stealthy... the enemy is able to see you through walls if if your pressence is known.
Rating: Summary: there better shots than you! Review: I played sof 1 and was pleased. at least i had a fighting chance. Even after the patch was downloaded the enemies were a bit more superior. In the jugle they had the upper hand, in the dark the same. the worst is standing in front of an enemy, getting what you think is a head shot, blamo, your dead. Good graphics, and recomended for the sof fan and shooter fan. Beware the upper hand is not in your favor, no matter what the dificulty level If the gore is for you, than its a must, no matter what headache it may bring.
Rating: Summary: Some Bad Press, Awesome FPS Review: "Soldier of Fortune 2" has had its share of criticisms from the gaming press (and even more so from conservative types horrified by its gruesome violence), but fans of the first person shooter need look no further for their gaming fix. "SoF2" has its share of glaring flaws and no mistake, but what it lacks in plot and diversity it more than makes up for in adrenaline-pumping firefights. Bullets fly and blood splashes in gallons. A direct hit to the head drops your foe in a pinch; groin shots double them over in agony; arms and legs can be torn from the body by screaming lead. The death animations are hideously realistic (and sometimes even gorier than the real thing) and nearly limitless. Dropping terrorist scum has never been so satisfying -and with an array of mostly true-to-life firepower, it doesn't get old very fast. There's a lot of FPS bang for your buck too, as the game is fairly long. Despite the sameness of some of the missions, it's good (messy) fun. It may not require much gray matter, but it's some of the most intense and gratifying stuff in the genre.
Rating: Summary: A great effort from Raven Review: As an avid fan of FPS games i should say that this game is one of the better FPS games i have ever played. Brilliant graphics and above all the GHOUL engine has been improved which means you'll see a lot more realistic deaths than the original SOF.For instance you aim at the opponents left eye and the bullet hits exactly his left eye. In addition you will handle a dozen of real life waponary as well as traveling through various world maps. Despite all the aforementioned positive points this game has lots of bugs so be aware of that.Although raven has only released a single patch it doesnt help a lot.Another negative point is that the load times are very very long and frustrating. Overall this game is definately worth playing and even buying because of the huge amount of mayhem it offers. NOTE:SOF2 is an extremely violent game and is strictly forbidden for under 18 and sissies.
Rating: Summary: Awesome graphics, not enough plot. Review: GRAPHICS: 9/10 The graphics can be one of two things; jaw-dropping, or [bad]. A good gaming rig is almost necessary to enjoy these graphics. Anything below 1280x1024 resolution with 2x antialias isn't much better than the first SOF. Luckily, I have a top-of-the-line system and was able to enjoy the detail of this game. You can see the pores in the faces of enemies and NPCs. Especially notable is the character's eyes... so real it's almost creepy... The gore graphics are extremely realistic... This is definately not a family game. SOUND: 10/10 This game makes me thank god every day for my Audigy Platinum Sound Card. The EAX Advanced HD sound is unbelievable, and a new standard in interactive entertainment. If you've heard the DTS sound in Saving Private Ryan's intro battle, that's very similar to the quality in this game. By far, this is the best sound I've heard in a game to date. The music is fantastic and very suspensful. The Dynamic Music Engine is a brilliant idea, and I wish it was used more in games. The voice acting is pretty good. Mark Hamil (AKA Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy) lends his voice to one of the game's leading roles. STORY: 6/10 The story is only mildly interesting, and way too short and simple. It's also been done before. However, the way the story is delivered is very cinematic. The cut-scenes, like in most games, are in an "anamorphic" format. You play John Mullins, in his furthur adventures after the incidents that took place in the first SOF game as a top secret military operative working for an anti-terrorist organization known as "The Shop". The sequel's first mission is more like a "prequel" or flashback. after that, it picks up where the first one left off. In this game John has to fend off biological warfare. The story is kind of shallow though, and parts that are supposed to be emotional moments don't succeed. This, I think, is due to the general lack of character development. I didn't time my playing time, but it seems like SOF2 was a lot shorter than the first one. MULTIPLAYER: 9/10 I'm more of a singleplayer gamer, but the MP in this game is very enjoyable. This game certainly replaces Quake 3 for my MP needs (however few and far between they may be). You'll never have more fun digitally shooting your friend's intestines out than you will in this game. That is, until SOF3 comes out. GAMEPLAY: 8/10 Very fun. Only reason it didn't get a 10 is because nothing about the gameplay is original. FINAL SCORE: 7/10
Rating: Summary: Eh,its not sll thst good Review: I really think that this game should have had better graphics. There are many glitches which often occur- such as people disapperaing in thin air. Maybe its just my computer(Pent3) but i think that this game could have been a lot better.
Rating: Summary: Generaly good but goes by fast. Review: I enjoyed SOF2 and was generally pleased with it. It was a good game, and one I would recommend to any FPS fan. Its many features were well done. While I would give it high scores in most areas I can't help but think one thing; it's too short. Most of the levels, while detailed, were small for the space they tried to project. A good example is the missions in South America. These were much hyped, but still fell to the pitfalls of the Quake3 engine. Q3 isn't known for rendering large outdoor environments, and this shows when you are limited to moving in small valleys and between steep hills, stuck to one path. While it might look pretty, and it does, there is nothing more to see. So to add length, each environment is usually a string of several levels together. With the player limited to a linear route the missions (and the game) can go by fast. I did like the AI. I think SOF2 has some of the best AI on the PC market today. While the AI in Ghost Recon and Return to Castle Wolfenstien were good, I think SOF2 might even have surpassed them. The AI is aggressive, but not stupid. They will generally do a good job of hunting you down, moving between cover, leaning around corners, using grenades to flush you out, create a smoke screen or blind you, and using dropped weapons. However this is a mixed bag. Even on some of the easier difficulty levels the AI is almost TOO good. Such as often detecting me when they should not (like while I might be moving silently under cover) or too accurate with hand grenades, making it impossible to find protection. I liked multi-player but it was nothing new to me. The random mission generator was a nice touch, but again suffers from being more of the same. Overall I liked it and would recommend it, I just will not be playing it again anytime soon.
Rating: Summary: Pretty much is all Review: Feel free to berate what I have to say, even flame me, I'd like something to debate. Yes, the graphics are pretty. I'll say they did a rather good job making things look 'pretty' but that is all. I've only made it so far in the game, but that far has already annoyed me to the point I don't think I want to continue. I'll give it kudos for a good game of multiplayer as well. Now, what don't I like it? Poorly inspired level design. The world is so linear, that you can't help but go in the right direction. This, in my opinion makes for a bland game. I want to feel like this is a world, not a tunnel. And the maps are rather uninspired. It is everything I've seen before, not necessarily done better I still have yet to see the awe inspiring AI in action. Guys hide behind trees.. ok, seen that. It saves me from taking cover. All I have to do is wait for them to poke their head out. The AI also over uses grenades. Not just the bad guys. And they don't seem to know how to use them. I've seen a flash of an explosion 100 feet out only to find out that they are trying to throw grenades at me when I can just pick them out in my scope. And god forbid your friendlies get the idea to toss one. Sitting in the middle of a firefight when all of the sudden a mis thrown grenade from a computer controlled friendly lands at my feet is not a fun thing to have. The pacing is terrible. There are levels where you have to stay with a group of 'friendlies' through the whole map. while this isn't a bad thing, it is a bad thing when the friendlies are set at their own, designer created, pace and if you go to far away from the group you will be considered to be 'endangering the mission' and subsequently killed. I found this annoying so I tried killing off the group to save me many tries of happening to get tofar ahead of them, because they move ridiculously slow even when I have killed every hostile for a square mile. The end result of killing them is dying. It can't be stopped. instant dead. I've also noticed some graphics issues. I have a 2 Ghz machine with a 128 Gforce 4, I do not want to see graphics problems. these include choppy frame rates in open areas, shadows that will fall on top of objects and go through walls/floors and lips that don't move when the character is speaking. Lip movement is an old technique; you'd think they could do it. Gore: just pointless. Unless you are one of those people that get off to blood and guts, this game doesn't offer what hasn't been offered before. Their claim that it is for the sake of realism is just plain stupid. It is just to make people with a ... for blood buy the game. The only time I thought their modeling was interesting was when a guy looked to be trying to pull the knife out of his back that I put there. Then he died. That part was cool. No sooner did he hit the ground, though, than a massive pool of blood formed. This pool of blood continued to expand when I moved the body. The blood also looks the same no matter the area. If it was affected by things like, say, rain, I'd give thumbs up to it, but it is just for show. All in all I've had a terrible experience. I don't recommend it to anyone, try something like 'America's Army' or any of the Rainbow Six games, if you want a 'realistic' combat experience. This game is just for show.
