Rating: Summary: YOU PEOPLE NEED GET A LIFE Review: You people blame everything on this game. SO what if it has violence in it, so do movies but i dont see any of you complaining about them. These games have a rating on them just like movies M stands for MATURE just like R MEANS RESTRCTED TO PEOPLE uNDER THE AGE OF 17. This is a really good game when you get past the violence. I also have some other things to say about that person who said this gamme shows that women are worthless; IT DOESNT SHOW THAT WOMEN ARE WORTHLESS YOU CANT BEAT UP A MAN JUST A LIKE YOU CAN DO TO A WOMEN. And one other thing it's really sad that people are comaparing a simple video game with what happend on 9/11 this game isnt going to make our children go out and drive a plane into a building. You need to look at where a child's enviroment was like before you blame a school shooting on a video game! Games like this can realive stress. After i play this game I never feeel like going out and shootig someone, it's all in your head people, stop blaming violence on video games and get a LIFE!
Rating: Summary: Is our culture in decline? This game suggests an answer. Review: About 25 years ago, director David Cronenberg was asked if he thought his grandchildren would enjoy his movies. He replied, "I doubt if I will even recognize my grandchildren as human beings." He was referring to the speed with which communication technologies were changing our values. The popularity of Grand Theft Auto underscores his prescience. This game bears out the notion that innocence is a thing of the past in our culture, even for children. (And PLEASE don't tell me this game isn't directed at adolescent boys.) Violence has a place in entertainment if it's depicted honestly, not gratuitously as it is in GTA-3. Those who suggest that pandering to the darkest male adolescent fantasies has no consequences probably think gansta rap is harmless self-expression, too. I suggest they read the newspapers.
Rating: Summary: The Godfather Of Crime Simulation Review: Welcome to Liberty City, modelled on New York and set in the 90's. The first instalment of Rockstars new 3D GTA's shows and some what laughs at the fact New york is run by gangstars. You are a small time crook working your way up to the big time and dealing with the mafia, the yardies, the triads, yakuza the columbians and much, much more. You've been betrayed and getting your own back on the city. You start in Portland but move west through the other two. You meet the shady characters, bent crooks and proper figure heads on your way to the top. You don't need to be a huge fan or have to be into crime games to adore this one. I feel this is the best game ever, perhaps falling to the new 'GTA Vice City' but this is a real classic and certainly not one to be missed.
Rating: Summary: Overrated Review: I personally didn't care for GTA3. Pre-release hype had led me to believe that it was a create-your-own-solution type game in the same vein as Deus Ex. Boy is that off the mark. I can only think of a handful of missions that really had multiple approaches, the rest fell into the fedex and get to point B as fast as possible category. I really wanted to like the game but the missions just didn't offer a whole lot. Granted there is the whole free form side of the game but at least for me, driving around and shooting stuff got old real fast. While the game definatly tried things that most games don't go into GTA3 is not particularly revolutionary or ahead of its time. Me, I'm back to Mafia.
Rating: Summary: nice levels, nice jokes, fair gameplay Review: The level design is excellent, and there's a lot of humor in things like the soundtrack for the radio stations you can listen to while you're driving. Occasionally the gameplay becomes very engaging and exciting. If it were just that, this game would get 5 out of 5.But there are two big problems with this game. The first is that, like so many recent games, they've made game saves very limited. (They can only happen between missions, and at certain locations.) Travelling to/from the save point becomes tedious. The second problem is that the information needed to complete a mission is given very sparingly; all you get is a few only moderately helpful blips on a "radar" screen, cut scenes which can be narratively interesting but don't really tell you anything useful, and terse, often misleading pop-up messages (which often you don't have time to read anyway since you're driving like crazy). The end result is that you have to play some missions three or four times over (at least) just to find what you have to do to complete a mission. In between these mission attempts, you end up spending a lot of time running between points you've run through a hundred times before, just to set things up or re-trigger the mission. It gets EXTREMELY tedious. So although the gameplay is excellent in parts, on the average it's just fair. I found that the most fun missions were the "non-official" (so to speak) ones that don't advance the story. These include taxi missions, ambulance missions, and police missions, all of which involve driving to race the clock. But these missions, and the taxi missions in particular, avoid many of the annoying quirks of the official missions, and become a more enjoyable way to play. A lot has been made about the amorality of the game. It's true; the premise and activity in the game is ammoral. But so what. At this point the price on this game has come down to the point that it's well worth the money.

Rating: Summary: Truly a breakthrough... Review: I'm rather intrigued by the countless ridiculous statements that argue of this game's violence (and therefore should not be supported) when there exit several other types of material available to the public that are far worse. Examples include adult films and rated R movies. We shouldn't support these also? That argument would be a violation of the First Amendment, as with the GTA3 being too violent and should not be supported argument. Developing video games is an art. It is sad that so many people fail to look beyond the scope of the quality of the game and instead remain engulfed in the mere violence and sexual aspects of it. Please, we're adults. On to the game...to sum it all up in a few words, a pure masterpiece and an absolute breakthrough to the gaming community. I will admit the graphics do not come close to the graphics that games are capable of today, but one will find themselves so immersed in the gameplay that graphics becomes the least of worries. Can't wait for Vice City's release for the PC. Take-Two knows what the public wants. A must-have.
Rating: Summary: good, but overrated Review: I was just as surprised as anyone at first. Beautiful scenergy and landscapes; free roaming in a city; guns and blood. My involvement in the game, however, ended shortly after 2 weeks of playing it. The missions, although creative, failed to spark my interest. The bad cut sequences (worse than in _Return of Castle Wolfenstein_, IMO) did little to encourage me to finish the missions and rather forced to simply prefer run around killing things. Like I said: beautiful, but boring. The initial shock value wares off after but a few days. For me, considering I actually purchased a copy from here on Amazon.com, it was one of my worst spent $[amount].
Rating: Summary: great! Review: Now this is one addictive game. I recommend buying a strategy guide first. This is a game of many hidden pleasures. On the pc version, you can even create your own radio station by adding MP3's to a special file included on the disk. However, you need a FAST computer to play this - I have a Pentium 4 1.5 gigs with 640 megs of ram and a 64 meg Radeon card, and it still slows down, usually when multiple cops are chasing me. If you've ever dreamed of being a sociopath on the rampage, this is for you. You can steal cars, drive over or shoot innocent civilians, play one gang of off another and blast police helicopters from the sky. You don't even need to complete the boss missions, although they're a lot of run also. The police are relentless and aggressive and won't go away simply if you kill a lot of them. Also Liberty City itself is a wonder - an enormous New York/Chicago hybrid with recognizable, distinct neighborhoods and landmarks. For fun you can simply drive around for hours, running over civilians and avoiding cops. For the PC version, buy a joystick. You'll need it. Also the radio stations are great - you have a choice among rap, 80s pop, rave, reggae, classical, talk and modern pop, complete with annoying DJ's and commercials. If you get tired of the stations (there are about 3 hours of music here) you can create you own station with MP3s. I've never seen a game where the player can create his own soundtrack. Now there's no multiplayer, but that's not a huge drawback.
Rating: Summary: Awesome. Review: This game is just incredible. It lets you free and it never gets old. Graphics and sound are incredible as well. The only draw back is the saving system, but dont let that scare you. Grand Theft Auto 3 allows you to play like you were a free man from everything, which makes the game outstanding. This game is an instant classic and is currently my favorite game today. The violence isnt nearly as bad as they make it sound either!(All you mom's, make you childs holiday AND BUY IT.) Well what are you waiting for and BUY IT. Trust me on this one, you WONT REGRET IT!
