It was well worth the wait. You can beat the krap out of people, go on joy rides, killing sprees, or just do missions.Have FUN
Rating: Summary: spend your money elseware Review: When i bought this game, I expected it to live up to its predicesors (GTA and GTA2); however, it simply doesn't. Right off the bat, this game will only run on maybe 2/3 of the systems out there, if you have an onboard sound or video chip, duron, or celeron procesor you can forget it. Even then, many video cards experience wierd anomolys and signifigant slowdowns when you get into a firefight. The gameplay itself is utterly repetitive, with most missions just being a harder rehash of previous one. Weapons now need to be purchased, and the better one are very very expensive, limiting them to sporatic use. Overall, by the time you've reached the third (and final) island, you'll be board stiff, as you will have spent 15-20 hours doing the exact same thing, only to find that the game holds only more of the exact same thing for you. This game is fun, for about 5 hours, then it [is] just [bad].
Rating: Summary: Great Game made better on the PC even w/o the Multiplayer Review: I bought this game the other day and its Great. One of the most freeform games ever. Ive played the PS2 and PC and the PC is better. Shooting is alot easier with a keyboard and mouse then a gamepad. The graphics are much better on a monitor then a TV sereen. The game works pretty well on a PIII 733, 256k Ram, Gforce2 GTS 32mb. The only bad thing about this game it game run alittle slow at times but its still worth the money.
Rating: Summary: Grand Theft Auto 3 Review: Grand Theft Auto 3 is one of the best and far most fast-action packed game around. Featuring many different styles of action, shoot-outs,drivebys,hand-to-hand,and many more. Grand Theft Auto 3 gives you the role of a bank-robbin-jail-escapin-parolle dude that has one mission to get jobs from the mafia and kill anyone in his way. Some cons are the fact that it takes forever to get the next damn area, and that the mission are sometimes to long, or too hard. Another thing is the mature level in it, you could go on a dark alley way, pick up a hooker and go under a tree in the car and go BLING BLING! Which is bad for the unmature side that plays this game. Other than that, the game offers a great and fun 3D environment for which to drive or do what you want, and cool feature - steal any car you want - kill who you want! I'd have to say that this is one game that no one will forget!
Rating: Summary: Notes on system requirements and adult content Review: -THIS REVIEW IS FOR NOTES ON SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS AND ADULT CONTENT- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: This game ran fine on my Pentium 3 900 mhz processor. I have 348 MBs of RAM and a 128 MB graphics card. I don't know why people with Pentium 4 2.2 Ghz computers with 510 MBs of ram couldn't run this game very well. Below is a brief guide for system requirements: To run this game without many problems, you should have at least... -MORE than 128 MBs of RAM -a Pentium 3 processor (above 800 Mhz) -a 64 MB graphics card -a 24x CD-ROM drive If your computer has what is listed above, then you should be able to run the game fine. ADULT CONTENT: Ths game is NOT for kids. The whole idea of stealing cars and working for crooks isn't that bad, but most of the jobs and situations you get in to are. Below is a list that should help parents: VARIOUS MISSIONS (R-rated level): One job had me killing some gangsters because they were selling drugs to Luigi's (the guy I was doing the job for) prostitues. Another job had me picking up this guy's wife and bringing her to him, only so he could beat her with a baseball bat. (You don't see this, but it is obvious once you hear all the sound effects.) SEXUAL CONTENT (R-rated level): The sexual content in this game makes MAX PAYNE (PG-13 level, more or less) look like a Saturday morning cartoon. You can pick up various prostitues and, uh, have some FUN (IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) with them. And the funny part is that you more or less see your character getting having this so-called FUN. Then, you can kill the prostitue and take the money she earned from you. Also, lines like, "C'mon baby, when are you gonna drill me?" are funny but sad excuses for this to be an adult-only game. LANGUAGE (PG-13 rated level): The language in this game is not as bad as I though it would be. There were some instances were there were some bad words, and some VERY few instances where there were some four-letter words. (Not the "F" word, though) VIOLENCE (R-rated level): You are free to do whatever you want, so if you wanted to you could shoot a cop's head off with an Uzi. (Which I actually did.) It was funny, but somewhat shocking at the same time. Other violence includes drive-by-shootings, where cars explode and limbs of civilians are severed. OVERALL RATING: Somewhere between R and NC-17. But if you're over 17, you should get a kick out of this game.
Rating: Summary: Use these tips to get your game working properly Review: Back in may, I wrote a review praising this game up and down. I also said it plays smoothly on my 1ghz AMD Athlon system with (only) a Geforce2 Pro video card. This means I was getting great framerates at 1024x768 with all the details on so I was really surprised to see all of the complaints. Many were from people with systems a lot more powerful than mine. Hopefully these tips will help get your game working or help you decide if your system can handle this game before you buy it. 1) The components you need to look at, in order of importance, are the video card, memory (RAM), and CPU speed. Some have complained of problems with off brand or integrated sound cards. I use a SBLive so I can't confirm, but Soundblaster users shouldn't expect problems. High performance PC games generally require quality components to run efficiently. 2) For video, make sure you have a 64MB card, preferrably Nvidia based and either a Geforce2 TI or faster. 3) Ati Radeon users, if you have an 8500 you should have no problems. If you have a 7500 you'll probably be tweaking the settings a little. 4) Make sure get the latest video drivers. I'd post links to where you can get them but the dumb censors here always delete them. Do a search and you'll figure it out. Nvidia users - I'm using the 28.32 drivers and the game runs great. 5) 256MB memory or greater is important for the game to run smoothly. 6) CPU - make sure you have 800Mhz (Intel or AMD) or better. You may be able to get away with slightly slower as long as your other components are up to par. 7) Defragging the hard drive may help but very little. The game rarely accesses the hard drive once the level is loaded. 8) If you have a Geforce2 MX card, the MX card is the problem. Sorry folks but those cards are real slugs. If you have a Geforce 4 MX card and you're whining, your card is a slug too. My Geforce 2 Pro is almost as fast as your card. Geforce3 and Geforce 3 Ti cards are faster than yours. If you don't believe me, consult the 3Dmark website for proof. Remember these words Nvidia card buyers - - MX = SLUG. That said, you should still get decent framerates from this game as long as you update your drivers. Yes, Rockstar Games probably should be taken around back and slapped for saying this game will run on a P450 with a 16meg video card (minus one star for that nonsense). Maybe they'll include a 'work over a Rockstar programmer' mission in their next release. Hope this helps.
Rating: Summary: forget this one Review: Do not waste your [money] on this junk.Even if your system is above the recommended hardware you wont be able to run it properly. I cant understand what the developers have done since i have a 64 meg Ge Force VGA and an athlon xp cpu with 256 meg memory and the graphics are still choppy even under the 640 480 16 resolution. This is the only game that doesnt run well on my pc.Just play the ps2 version and dont get near this.
Rating: Summary: One of *the* best games of all time... Review: I'd like to start off by saying that turning off that "trails" feature has made me love the game more than I already had. Thanks for that tip. On to the review. There's no other word to describe this game other than 'revolutionary'. I've got to say that I've spent more gaming hours playing this game than any other. I'm running an Athlon XP 1800+ and a GeForce4 with 512 MB RAM and the game runs perfectly. I don't see how one can judge a game based on the way it runs on their system. Obviously, newer games will require more power due to more realistic environements and giving it a 3/5 stars because of an outdated system is pretty dumb.
Rating: Summary: Best but Demanding PC Game! Review: Grand Theft Auto Fan rejoice! GTA is back with a vengeance on PC. Awesome graphics, large cities, hilarious radio. Be Warned: This game requires a heck of a PC to play (I have a 32mb GeForce 2 MX and it struggles some!) I recommend a P4 with a 32MB video card or better. You should keep this game away from children, it has intense violence, language, and sexual subjects. Overall it is a great game and can acheive better graphics then on the Playstation 2 version. You can cruise the cities listening to any style of music (Hip Hop, Rap, 80's, Talk Radio, Reggae, etc.), I recommend the Talk Radio station, it is so stupid its funny. I recommend this game to all users as long as you think you can handle it.
Rating: Summary: Unsatisfying Review: When I first started playing this game, I really liked it. The graphics were decent and the idea behind the game was good. After playing for two weeks, I became very bored and rather than play the missions, I gathered a large collection of weapons and laid the smack down on the city and city officials. Now, other than just a stress reliever, this game is dead to me. I don't recommend spending your money on this one. Wait a couple of weeks until your friends get bored with it and then borrow theirs.
