Rating: Summary: Good Game -Long load times Review: A good game, very fun[]. Long load time between sections of the map (about 20 seconds). The game also involves some thinking (like how can I kill everyone in the building and not get killed myself). Very basic premise, shoot everything, rob people and not get caught or if you do fight your way out.
Rating: Summary: Not Bad but So Slow Review: Finally, a game for the rest of us who don't care about being "Politically Correct" The only reason I gave it 3 stars is due to the long load times between levels.
Rating: Summary: Postal Paradise Review: If there was ever a time for the ESRB to use its content control to its fullest extent, this would've been the time. This game is tremendously violent, yet extremely fun to play. Even if GTA: Vice City doesn't affect your morals, this game probably will. I'd still buy it if i were you and I liked FPS action games that are non-linear.
Rating: Summary: Bargain basement quality, crudeness, and boredom. Review: I've been eagerly anticipating this game after having played the original. Well, the game is here, it is from the same company, it is supposed to take the tongue-in-cheek hyperviolence of the predecessor to the next level and yet I only played it for 40 minutes before uninstalling it and putting on eBay. Why would that happen? I'll tell you why! This game is slow. In fact, it is not slow - it is SL-O-O-OW. Start the game and you are presented with a borderless window with a warning with no visible activity going on for about one minute. At some point I was sure the game had quetly terminated leaving this window behind and I was going to restart it when it finally went fullscreen. Loading between areas is also very slow - on my machine it takes about 1.5-2 minutes. Remember - we are talking about areas within a single mission, so you'll have a chance to experience these reloads several times through each mission. As there is no sign or indication of area switch, it always comes suddenly. First time I was through it, the area around was so non-descript in both directions, that I mad a mistake and backed out one step. Bad move! I was punished by loading the very area I came from (and subsequently by having to load the new area again). Finally, in many cases such delays are accompanied with absolutely no activity on-screen so it is quite difficult to figure out whether the game is dead or it is merely loading. Just in case you wonder: my machine is pretty fast. Most of modern games (e.g. the recently played GTA3) show excellent performance on it. The game graphics looks crude. It looks like an old 3D shooter game rendered in OpenGL - in other words, very immature. It is OK to have such shabby graphics in an open source program or a free demo, but there is absolutely no excuse to release a commerical game with such graphics in 2003. Finally, the game looks very mundane. Sure, there are 'cute" moments to it with people yelling obscenities and a programmer's workplace located in an office bathroom - but all of this is merely an icing on top of a very dull first person shooter. You go around and run chores. You may also kill people walking around. So much for thrill. All in all, this is what it looks like - a rushed release of a dull, generic first person shooter of bargain basement quality. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else (like an excellent (and I do mean it!) Grand Theft Auto III) or this game will make you go postal.
Rating: Summary: Eh... Why? Review: Everything Im about to say concerning Postal 2, you've probably already read. The shock value of lighting innocent people on fire and going on random ... crazy rampages ebbs away rather quickly. And when I say LONG load times, I mean exactly that. The gameplay map is divided into about 8 or 9 main sections. You traverse this map section by section. Everytime you wish to travel to a new part of the map you get stuck between areas with load times that can last up to 5 minutes. - Yep, I said 5 minutes. I ran the game on a 1.8 gz cpu with 512 ram. - Still took a ridiculous amount of time to load. The constant 'hurry up and wait' in this game extinguishes a gamer's lust for blood and nulls any interest you may have had for its mundane storyline. Considering how brilliant and user-friendly today's FPS can be, this game has no excuse for being so outmoded in its playability. 3 years ago this game would have knocked my socks off. Now it comes across as too little to late and so much wasted potential.
Rating: Summary: Ever have one of those days? Well now you can! Review: Ever have one of those days. . . One thing I have found out over the past 14 years is that software manufacturers have an endless world of ideas to work with. I remember playing Postal years ago and thought it was okay, but nothing like Postal2, in fact its like night and day. Following an install that went very smooth on 4 different systems including 1 laptop, the software ran under Windows 2000 and XP without fail. I did find that the more memory, both system and video, the better. The one thing I found to be a little annoying was the refreshing time after entering a new zone, it seemed to take longer than I wanted it to, but overall there were no major software problems. The game is violent, hardcore death and destruction violence and this is was sets the Postal2 game apart from all other games. You have a number of violence levels to choose from, from easy to Hestonworld, which is where I spent the game playing. You have a number of weapons, from the shotgun to a flamethrower to a cow's head. In fact you can even kick and baton people during the game. There are a couple of special weapons you can discover while playing. You have to make your way through 5 days with tasks from returning a book to getting milk. Along the way you encounter a host of different people from band members to book burners to even a group of angry priests. Not normally a player of FPS type games, I found this to a fun and entertaining. I did have several laughs during the first day of the game. With the amount of violence and language this game is not meant for the younger crowd. The game even talks to you and for you. As mentioned before the language is adult in nature, even when you enter the "cheat" codes, which I found that can help you during each day. Overall Runningwithscissors has once again put together a game that any serious gamer. So if you need to find an escape from the world around you, this may be the game of choice. All you have to remember is that this is a game.
Rating: Summary: Mindless Review: Don't quite know what to make of this one. Its OK for a laugh if you don't take it too seriously. Personally I didn't find the violence to be that realistic looking. I mean you've got to shoot someone in the head about 5 times before they go down. But these guys seem to have gone out of their way to insult every minority group there is, and I can't decide whether they're right-wing pro-gun or they're taking the p*ss out of right-wing pro-gun. The asian shopkeeper Lucky Ganesh seriously cracked me up though, although its obvious the makers of this game don't know the difference between Hindu's and Muslims. I'm British and we have asian shopkeepers exactly like him over here too. Very funny. Mostly though this game is pretty infantile.
Rating: Summary: Fun Review: One of the most original and hilarious games I've played. The things you'll see, as well as do, is amazing. With a high end system this game even looks great. You won't be disappointed. Kudos to the guys and gals at 'Running With Scissors'. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: If youre willing to buy this game dont pay attention to one star ratings and buy the game rightaway. Its one of the most fun and original games ever made. People who are dropping one stars have probably been shocked by the game and are having nightmares but IMO the level of violence in this game is same as GTA3. Kudos to the guys at "Running With Scissors" which i consider them one the best game developers of our time.
Rating: Summary: Hillarious! Review: Especially to the younger crowd, this is a game that will apeal to them. Why? Because the adult situations, extreme and rediculous violence, and suggestive themes (such as the terrorist ordeal and the un-patriotic American signs) will make children everywhere laugh histarically. I do happen to agree with most people here. This is a low-budget game but with some great graphics and very funny parts. The reason this gets a 4 stars instead of five is because the game is INDEED short. I finished the game within days. But the thing is that this game hasn't gotten BORING for me. Walking on the streets and lighting them on fire with a gas tank never really gets BORING. If you found games of Grand Theft Auto tedious, this may not be a game for you. But if you enjoy the free gameplay of this game, this could be a looker for ya! Maybe you should check out the demo, which is on Postal 2's main site.
