Rating: Summary: Stop whining! Review: Too many people are whining about the cheesy. hammy acting in this game. Well, guess what? When I was a kid, we didn't have this much acting in video games. All we could settle for was a couple of minutes of grainy dialogue and maybe some jerky FMV cut scenes. Max Payne is one step closer to bridging the gap between games and cinema. Kudos to the valiant Finns who created this bad boy. Finland is slowly but surely taking over the media world!
Rating: Summary: Poor Max, I guess it's time for him to do some killing!!! Review: This game is just plain AWESOME! It gets better/tougher as you get better. There are a bunch of easy-to-use cheat codes that are available via the mfgs website. the quick-save feature is a pleasure to use throughout the game (but don't forget to use it often or else you will NEVER finish this game).
Rating: Summary: One of the BEST games EVER MADE Review: I can't BELIEVE the price that Amazon is offering this game for these days. For that money you shouldn't even be reading this, you should be ordering. This is one of the BEST overall games EVER made for PC, Console, etc. I've reviewed almost 30 games on here (and I currently own way more than that!) and this is at the top with Ghost Recon and Soldier of Fortune 2. Graphics....SO smooth and nice to look at, not to mention the level designs are nothing short of AMAZING. Prostitution houses to roof tops this game goes everywhere with amazing detail. Sound is great as well, and "slow motion bullet time" effects are awesome. You right click your mouse and for a few seconds the game slows down like the matrix, you can see bullets going through the air..its just something you have to see for yourself. The game is VERY linear, meaning FEW puzzles and you'll always be able to find your way. FEW people dislike a game like that, bt I love it. I wanna play the game not run in circles for hours on the same level trying to find the trick lever that opens the door. Bottom line...BUY THIS. Its one of those games like a good old nintendo game with a good story and pure fun. ENJOY!! For reference, here is my system. 2.8ghz P4, 512MB PC800 RAM, Geforce 4 ti 4600, 21 inch Trinitron Monitor, and Klipsch Pro-Media 5.1 500 watt surround sound system (which I TOTALLY ENDORSE!). I ran this on this system ($$$) and a $$ dollar system, and it ran pretty much the same. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY!
Rating: Summary: A really good game Review: This game starts of by telling you that you are a NY cop on the verge of insanity because your wife and baby were killed by drug addicts. You are also framed and basically everybody is out to get you. You set out to avenge them and also clear your name. This leads to several interesting twists and turns - hours of enjoyment ! The bullet-time feature is a real joy, you get to see everybody in super slow-mo, and you can move at normal speed and shoot them. Really useful if you are outnumbered. There are lots of puzzles that are not too difficult to solve, you so won't be frustrated. Nice movement of storyline through comic strip based story telling. The graphics are great too, which is always an important feature. The end of certain levels are insane, with tons of goons. Bullet-time again comes to the rescue. On the whole, a really cool game that will provide you hours of fun. Replayability is provided by the features that get unlocked once you finish the game.
Rating: Summary: A Revolutionary Game! Review: Released December 2001, Max Payne brought incredible graphics, fun and highly interactive game-play, a perfect musical score, awesome variety of weapons and one of the best story-lines ever in a computer game. The bullet-time option is like nothing any game has ever done. The game, however, can be frustratingly difficult if you don't use it often. The gritty story and plot is very entertaining with interesting graphic-novel sequences, that are suprising. Also the pace of the game is well done with alot of different enemies, buildings, items, weapons (Colt Commando Rox) and tons of blood-spattering action through out! I have beaten this game twice now and would probably rank it as my 2nd favorite game of all-time (Half-Life being 1st) Max Payne 2 should come out March 2003. Max Payne also runs very well on X-Box and Playstation 2 but if you have a killer computer system you will be very pleased with the performance. Buy this great game now!
Rating: Summary: A Gaming Legend Review: Maz Payne has got to be the best game that i've ever played (honestly). This game has it all, from stunning graphics, enchanting music, smooth gameplay, and lasting excitment. One of the coolest aspect of the game is bullet time. You can get Max (the character) to do matrix style moves to doge bullets. It make syou feel like your in a movie. I also like the plot of this game. You're a fugitive police officer running from the law. Proving your innocence ivolves shooting the crap out of all the punks who get in your way. The game has graphic nove sequences to move the story along that are awesome. If you decide to get only one game this year (and you like edge of your seat action shooting games) get Max Payne! Its a gaming experiance youll never forget.
Rating: Summary: Shoot-em-up with no incentive Review: Okay, the game isn't horribly bad. It ran fine on my computer. No problems with instal or starting or anything like that. Default controls are weird but changeable. My major drawback to this game was what was the point? The graphic novel would have been interesteting if it was something you get at the comic shop. I feel cheated by lack of movies. The novel could have been made into movies and lasted a little longer. It was short. The weapons were cool but the bullet-time, should just have stayed in the Matrix. The graphics were great but for a first-person shooter the game was not all that good. When its in the [price] bin, get it. But other than that save your money.
Rating: Summary: The Best Game Review: Buy this game now. what more can i say, this game rocks.
Rating: Summary: GREAT FUN Review: This game is great, everything about it is refined to perfection, making it the best game about picking up guns and shooting people. I can't believe some people are saying that the ps2 controls are better that these controls. You aim with the mouse, not the arrow keys, Sheesh. Some may say the gameplay is not varied enough, but for some reason, it keeps pushing you to get to the end. The only problem I have with the game is the AI, the baddies are sometimes horribly stupid. They will shoot each other, throw grenades into walls, and shoot at walls. Maybe it is to make the game more like a action movie, but I wanted to see the mercenaries you fight later in the game have some real attack strategies. My advice to you: go get the pc version rather than the ps2 version, it has better graphics, more responsive controls, you can save anywhere you want, and you can take advantage of the vibrant mod community.
Rating: Summary: Maximum Exposure Review: Max Payne is simply amazing.I'll tell you why! First it's by far the most dramatic shooter game ever. With a Comic type storyline that doesn't bore you down like other games i have played. And guess what you can also skip the story part & get straight down to business, if you have already understood the mission ahead. Secondly, the game's intense garphics( blood, gun shoot, police, gangsters etc) puts you right into it! You will not feel like an alien needing some adjustment to GET along with it! (ever tried playing Seriuos Sam, not that it's BAD but i felt weird playing it! the settings are just PLAIN DUMB! if you were to ask me) Thirdly, like any other shooter game, you will be provided with a large selection of weapons to fool with.(sniper riffles, shot guns etc) & do not worry cause you will also be provided with tons of AMMO along the WAY. Finnally, the way the game progresses is also something that catches my attention. For example when Max get's a good beating by some mobsters, he faints & therefore you will need to help him find is way back to consciousness. The is more good points of this game than it's BAD point. Verdict: Good game, geat graphics, & believe it or not at the end of the game i did feel SAD for Max Payne. He's my hero now. And yes you will need a good machine to take the game to the MAX! Mine was a Pentium III (500Mhz) with 128 ram memory & a Winfast GEF4 Grahics card 64mb with DDR. A sound card would be LOVELY! but i was short on budget. The ONLY obvious BAD thing is that it would have been great if the developers made options from which view point you would like to play MAx payne in(just like Serious SAm or No One lives forever)currently as far as i know the is ONLY 1 view point you will play Max payne from Behind Him & use the MOUSE to adjust the direction he shoots. GO GET MAY PAYNE TODAY!
