Rating: Summary: Works with XP Review: BAsed on the other reviewer's experience, Max Payne DOES WORK with XP.I understand where he/she is coming from though. My Half Life game won't work with XP, while others have success doing it. In my opinion, it's a potluck. The game itself is fun a la Half Life with slow-mo to boot. It's an interesting story and moves right along. The screenplay dialogue is badly written & cheeesy at times--i.e. normal people don't use big words to describe their feelings. The targets get progressively more difficult, but NOT difficult enough--i.e. I wasn't challenged....i.e. this game needs a good difficulty program.
Rating: Summary: Great game...if it wasn't so short and expensive! Review: I got this game as a gift. I'd seen several ads for it and it seemed like my kinda game, but I wouldn't have bought it myself, and I still stick by that. Its a great game, don't get me wrong. Its just so costly for what you get, as I believe someone pointed out earlier. Its too one-way...there aren't too many other options you can do in the scenarios but die or go through that door leading to the end of the level. The only cool thing I found is what I'll do with most games like this...play it once, beat it, download the cheats for it for unlimited weapons and play it again, unfairly slaughtering everyone in my path. And this game is PERFECT for that.
Rating: Summary: Do not buy this if you have Windows XP Review: I have a brand new Sony Vaio Pentium 4 that runs on Windows XP. Despite notes on the liner and on the website on running the game on XP, this game will not run on XP on this PC. Their tech support are totally unhelpful, and I have found no way to get my money back because the box is opened! PS. I have talked to people who made this work on an HP / XP configuration-- good luck!
Rating: Summary: Max Payne new type of computer games Review: Max Payne is a game like no other has a great story lots of shooting a lot of fun. 3D Realms has made another great game that follows Duke Nukem just like Duke Nukem the game doesn't crash doesn't go slow and you can play it all day and it will still be the same. Bullet time and everything in the game, graphics, textures, sound all are almost real. Max Payne like Duke will start new games.
Rating: Summary: review Review: When this game was first heard about, everyone and their mother it seemes was singing it's praises, glorifing it's name, and the like. it's a shoot em up game, nothing more. It's all about a cop's family that get killed by the mafia, and Mr. Payne goes on a rampage, killing all the mafia members he can, trying to get to the top boss. I played the demo, and while I do not have the game itself, I doubt I will buy it. I was disappointed; I was expecting more, but We all got a shoot em up game, and nothing very original.
Rating: Summary: Max is great Review: Max Payne is a must have for any serious gamer. The graphics and realism are all that anyone could ask for, however you must be sure that you have a system that can handle the kind of power needed to be able to enjoy this game to the fullest. If you don't, all you'll be able to see is choppy, slide by slide movie looking gameplay, which takes away from the game, and makes it so that it's virtually unplayable. The bullet-time mode is what really makes the game though. It slows down time so that you can kill multiple enemies in one room, while taking minor if any injuries to yourself. Once again, a must have for any serious gamer.
Rating: Summary: Fresh Breath Review: A fresh breath into the computer gaming world. Not a shooter...Not a sequel (MechWarrior 37)...Not a Sim (or sim sequel)...Not an expasion pack! Finally something new with an awesome story...Good game engine. Please venture of the path that has been beaten to death and give this excellent game a try!
Rating: Summary: Nice game Review: I play a lot of games and I must say this one is very good. It has an excellent story line and graphics. You get stuck in the story line as you're playing, but if you're not the type that likes to get stuck in the story and just run around and shoot people, it's awesome for that too. One of the best games I've ever played!
Rating: Summary: Fun to play, but way too short for the price Review: This game is a regular shooter with one great twist. The "bullet-time" innovation is a great addition to the Third-person-shooter genre. It allows your character to overcome odds that are stacked against you without body armor or superhuman powers. You take out bad guys in slow motion with your uzis or twin berettas, watching bullets whiz past you while your shots find their home. The shots that miss hit the wall, producing splinters, or they hit bottles or mirrors, shattering them to pieces. Bullet time is the highlight of the game. It never gets old. But that's where the "greatness" ends. The storyline is mediocre. You just mow down the bosses lackeys, moving progressively on up the food chain until you kill the "big boss" at the end. The game has good action but it has nothing besides that. There is only one way to solve every problem and most rooms have only one exit. Go to room A, clear out the bad guys. Go to room B, clear out the bad guys, etc, etc, etc. There is no stealth whatsoever in this game. The enemy AI has one setting -- "always aware". Worst of all, this is one of the shortest games that I have ever played - 12 hours, tops. Replayability is almost nonexistent. Each time that you replay the game, every item and enemy is in the same place. (Too bad that this game is making all of the "game of the year" lists. That means that all you have to do from now on is churn out 12-hour games with nice graphics and you have a blockbuster on your hands) My recommendation? Wait until this one comes out in a jewel case.
Rating: Summary: Great Look.. Needs more story Review: It has a bold look to it but I thought the characters where not very interesting and had to force myself to finish the game.
