Summary: A gimmick, but so what...
Review: Anyone buying this item should accept the fact that all of these new features could easily have been incorporated into MW4 Vengance or Black Knight. Microsoft was keeping up fan interest between the release Black Knight and Mercenaries. By definition, this Mech Pack and it's sister one for the Inner Sphere are a marketting ploy.

That said, die hard fans of the Mechwarrior series may want to buy this expansion for the new mech's and some new weapons. It's kind of fun to take the older mechs and slug it out with a Kodiak. The Mech Packs add a little variety, but no depth. The one exception is if you have the Pack's installed when you play Mercenaries. If you install the Packs, the new mechs will show up in the various Solaris arena's in Mercenaries, where they make challenging apponents.

Long time fans of the franchise or players who like to tinker with new mechs will have some fun with this. Casual players should save their money.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: For any of you who have the original Mechwarrior 2, do you remember the Warhawk? I do. This mech (the Masakari) held the back them very slow PPC. It's back, jack. I don't think it's in any other mech game, maybe MComm.

1. Arctic Wolf (4/5): Speedy little devil. The 6 CSTRK's reload fast and pack a minor punch.

2. Cauldron-Born (5/5): Not seen in the Mech lab since 1998. Rather quick for 65 tons. 2 Clan LBX AC 10 are the best.

3. Kodiak (4/5): Holds 18 tons of armor for a 100 ton mech. CMRM 40, watch out, no lock on.

4. Masakari (5/5): Best varity of weapons out there.

Buy this all you crazy mech fans, BUY IT NOW!!

Summary: Great fun
Review: I own this game and think for the money it is fun, educational, and helps get you thinking. Instead of those video games were it is all violence and no thinking this game is still violence(a little) and you have to strategize and all of that. The other good thing is theres other games like Black knight, Mercanairies, and vengence witch are all expansions and with every new game comes new mechs, new levels, new missions and so on and so on. Your kids will love this game and you parents just might too. I know my parents did :-)

Summary: Not needed, stick with Black Knight expansion
Review: Not impressed with this pack at all. Sure it's cheap, but Black Knight has all you need for Mechs and new weapons. Very little offered here.

Summary: Much needed and great fun.
Review: One of the things I did not like about MechWarrior4 was the lack of new Mechs. It was the latest MW game and I had hoped to see more variety, instead we got the standard Battletech selection of Mechs. Of the new ones that were there, only a couple really stood out.
This Mech Pack adds some of the better Clan Mechs from Battletech to the game. It was fun to go back to MW4 and the expansion, Black Knight, and play with these new Mechs. Each is highly detailed and looks better than the previous Mechs in the game. Each is a good Mech, there are only four but they are very well designed. One Mech, the Artic Wolf, has existed only in the Battletech fiction so it was really cool to see it fleshed out in game. The addition of new weapons and equipment also makes it interesting to go back to old favorite Mechs and arm them with new firepower.
The new maps are nice, but nothing really fantastic.

I have really enjoyed Battletech in all of its forms over the years, and I really liked seeing some good Mechs from the past brought up to date. Anyone who knows Battletech and liked Mechwarrior4 should enjoy this. While it might seem like too much to pay for so little, it is worth it to rule the battlefield in a Warhawk again:)

Summary: Best game ever
Review: Personally i love this game for it's multiplayer capabilites. Even though i haven't played it yet, it is only an expansion. i have the actual version and black knight and they are the best games in the world.

Summary: Typical low quality microsoft
Review: The game is extremely dumbed down from the Battletech universe in terms of tech flexibility, and has a narrow storyline. It has very good graphics, but it's choppy on about anything less than a 2ghz pentium and/or good graphics card. The music sometimes gets stuck on a single tone and the whole game has crashed several times. The basic game is sold at full price, but crippled - you have to buy half a dozen "expansion packs" to get what the game should have started out with.
I've played everything to do with Battletech and Mechwarrior since it first came out and love it all, but since Micro$oft bought the game out the quality has continually sank. Get it if you want to play Netmech on a new computer over a cable modem or if you want to just shoot everything up. Don't get it if you're expecting anything from Mechwarrior or Battletech besides the name.

Summary: Essential for online gaming.
Review: The mech paks (CLAN and IS) are essential for online gaming.
If you are a MW fan, these are required! I have no problem with the spyware. It's more copy protection than spyware. My spyware software has no problem with it.
