Summary: Revuman Says: It's what Arena DM was supposed to be!
Review: It is perfection, for lack of a better word. In every way shape and form. And if nothing else, it is one of the few first player shooters (including System Shock and Half-life) that I have not been able to stop playing since I got it? So how was UT able to beat out the QUAKE III team (the pioneers of the DM shooter)? Let's compare!

First off, the graphics are beautiful, and just the fact that the color scheme is more than just buffalo chip brown makes a big difference. All of the light variants, wall textures, skins, explosions, and background textures make the revamed Unreal engine look like gods paintbrush. In my opinion, the quake engine is dying, no matter how much they revamp it, and in this case, way too goth and way too dark to see any of the other players.

Although each of the games maps have some problems, UT is the clear winner here, with over 50 maps that each have their own special touches and singular beauty (although some may look better than play better). Quake's maps are very linear and flat and don't have the same kind of spark that the UT maps have.

As for AI, Quake got it all wrong here. UT's AI is a beautiful sight, with enough tweaks on the main menu for you to match the exact difficulty with your skill level. Quake...not exactly. And furthermore, UT has an automatic skill changer, which allows the computer to adapt to your skill level. Awesome. oh and...I couldn't care less about the lack of varity in the UT skins, they still look awesome.

In addition, the AI of UT and Quake III are what really make the First player mode a treat in UT and a painful experince Quake III. First of all, the first player mode in Quake isn't worth my fingernail clipings. It is terribly lame and also the bots AI's are very sketchy and need a lot of teaking. In UT, first player is great for both newcomers for practice, and for pros who want to practice offline before they slug it out online. These guys act almost if not exaclty like human players! I love it!

Variety is no contest. UT has not only deathmatch, but assault, CTF, Domination, Last man standing, and a whole slew of new weapons. Quake has deathmatch and relativly old and barely revamped weapons.

In addition, interface, multiplayer, hardware reqs and overall replay value all go to UT. This game looks good with or without a video card and even on my 330 MHZ PII w/128 SDRAM it looked good (thanks to my Creative Anihilator Pro video card) Everything about this game has been made as slick as can be. Sure, ID may be the deathmatch king, but with games like Quake III, they better make way for GT and UT!

The Good News: Where quake has failed, GT has triumphed on every level. It doesn't get much better than this.

The Bad News: Get back to us when they make Quake IV

The Final Words: BFG? Ha...try takin on my Nuclear weapon launching Redeemer! Go get UT Now!

Summary: UT Ownz Q3.... sort of.
Review: For those of you who like 3D Action games for the lighting-fast deathmatch play, UT will not disappoint. I enjoyed playing the bots several times, on varying skill levels. However, once I finished Assault mode and Deathmatch, I was left realizing what is missing from UT and Q3A: depth. There is no depth to either game. The flimsy backstories are Mortal Kombat-esque justifications... insufficient plot, insufficient single-player experience. Legend Entertainment has already proven that single player action is not dead with the Wheel of Time, so why have Epic and Id abandoned it? For a much more engrossing online gaming experience, try the Team Fortress Classic mod for Half-Life. And then, if you're really feeling brave, go get Quake1 and Quake2 and explore the wealth of awesome multiplay mods out there. UT will only fulfill for so long.

Summary: Can not live without it
Review: If you are hooked on first person shooters, but this game. Try the demo version first, if you like buy the retail version. I love this game. I run a 450 PII with 128 mgs of RAM. You will be hooked. Play over the internet is way better than Quake III arena. Just buy this game.

Summary: Do you want a game of 1Gb ?
Review: Yes, that's the size of it fully installed! Ok, it's cool and all, but not that much different to justify this huge size. I liked a lot DF 1 (not DF2) , Hidden and Dangerous in spite of the crashes, Swat 3 etc, but this is just a Doom improved. It's also hard to configure even in my Pentium II 333 with 96 ram and Viper 770 32Mb. I don't recommend.

Summary: Great Game
Review: This game is by far one of the best First person shooters out there. The graphics are good and the game has a variety of weapons, levels and game modes to play with. Multiplayer support is very good since you can set up your own little server and also play on HEAT, Mplayer and WON. The AI works out pretty well, the bots are easy until the skill level is set above Masterful. If you like to play first person shooters this is a game you won't regret buying.

Summary: Just as good as Quake but better levels
Review: This game consisted of two awesome items, first was the improvement that it has made from the first unreal. Second are the detailed and highly entertaining multiplayer levels. You could play in them for hours. I say its a bit better than quake but they are both great games

Summary: THIS IS A GREAT GAME!
Review: I have had this game for a while now. It is one of the best games I have ever played. It has great MULTIPLAYER. It is very challanging and addicting! The object of the game is to well, win. You have to try not to die. There are many bad guys with huge guns. You also have a chance to acquire huge guns. There are many levels like capture the flag and deathmatch. I like the mission level the best though. This game is worth the money!

Summary: one of the best from 1999-2000!
Review: With the traditon of Unreal the original like deathmatch, to the new modes like my favorite, last man standing. A must buy for 1999-2000!(:

Summary: Another great Unreal game
Review: I will just be brief. My system specs area 300mhz pent2, 160 megs ram, Voodoo3 3000, 40kbs internet connection. The game has excellent graphics and gameplay. The diffrent types of games are a refreshing change to the usual capture the flag and deathmatch. I think you will find the "assault" game great. My average ping times are around 250, so they got the code right this time. If you are a fps fan and like games like "Tribes" where team play is important, you will like this one. Can't compare it to "Quake", because I have never played Quake before. There is no need to with this game.

Summary: Not bad for Unreal
Review: I've been playing Unreal tournament for a couple weeks, and it's a pretty fun game. Decent graphics, decent gameplay, decent sound, but I don't rate it 5 stars (like I did with Quake 3) simply because it's missing that incredible, undescribable, "in-the-game-like" feeling that you get when you're playing Quake 3. If you want a fun game, get this game. If you want to have so much fun that you'll be glued to your monitor for 8 consecutive hours, get Quake 3 Arena.
