Summary: Better than the original - but lacks originality!
Review: I have both versions, and this by far has better everything including graphics and weaponry. My only complaints are the following. 1) In the original Red Alert (hereinafter referred to as RA1) you had to have tactics and skills. In RA2 all that is needed is 30 tanks and you can wipe out the other team. 2)Not enough air or sea advantages. 3) Super weapons are too powerful. 4) The Soviet side is still better than the Allies. It is only worth purchasing if you do not have RA2.

Summary: Yuri's Revenge almost seems pointless...
Review: Well I am finally back to review the Add On pack for Red Alert 2, Yuri's Revenge. Yuri's Revenge almost seems pointless because the AI in the game is still the same it seems, all the back to the Original Command and Conquer. The multiplayer aspect of the game is a HUGE PLUS. But let's talk about different aspect of Yuri's Revenge Single Player.

The GAME - The storyline is very odd and weirder now that Red Alert:Yuri's Revenge is messing with Time Travel. Yuri has taken over the world with his Psychic Dominators and now it is up to you (Allies or Soviets) to go back in time and foil his plans. There are two Jurassic Park like scences which really play out funny. Ray Wise has made another appearance in this movie which really goes to show you how well his acting career is doing (LOL). Pretty simple rules apply here, Destroy Yuri and stop his Psychic Dominators. One of the battles will even take you to the Moon to fight Yuri!

The GRAPHICS are what to be expected from a RTS. Not anything really special to look at but your standard 2D explosions and firefights. But I still love how much Command and Conquer has come from the first game and its Pixalated units.

The GAMEPLAY is very nice with many new features and weapons. It is now even easier to get veteran units than before and I don't know what I would do without the ability to Garrison buildings. The Battle Fortress is a very awsome unit next to the Tank Killers and the Soviets still rule with the APOC tanks.

GAMEPLAY BALANCE - Man don't start me on this again because I could go on for hours! I have seen better AI in Quake 2 and even Star Trek Armada. And again you only have to build a certain unit to pretty much destroy the computer. On the Allies side its all about building Prism Tanks. Amass about 20 of these units and you can destroy any base. On the Soviet side all you have to build is about 15 APOC tanks and you can overwhelm any base. Playing around with different stratagies is fun, but sooner or later you are ready to whip the tar out of the computer and complete the mission.

Overall, I found this game to be enjoyable and a worthy add on to Red Alert. With different Units and three different sides to play in Multiplayer it makes to be quite spectacular. Yuri on the other hand was a complete ... His taunting in the game was pretty annoying and it really seems he could not even Mind Control himself a Pizza. But it was still enjoyable. I wonder what new Command and Conquer will come next after Renegade.

Review: Renegade is going to set a new tone in the gaming world as far as graphics and online play go... they have been toiling over this game for years now making sure that they have gotten everything right and i am sure that westwood has gone above and beyond expectations with this game and they will do so in years to come! BUY RENEGADE!!

Summary: Just the best C&C game yet
Review: RA2 is the the best game out yet from westwood. It keeps up the tradition of awesome videos, and this is one of the only games I have that has single player missions worth playing. The storyline is the same as RA1, but all the new units are great. There isn't really any deformable terrain like it says (unless you count bridges and trees) and you can still build on huge craters in the ground. :) The expansion is the first RA game to have 3 sides, and it really rules. There are still rules.ini files for RA2 and also so awesome mods online, and you can still play well online with dial-up with hardly any lag.

Summary: The Best Expantion Ever!
Review: I didn't think they could pull it off, but Westwood has crammed hundreds of awesome unusual things into the best game, making it even better. Yuri's revenge is a must have for RA2 fans, C&C fans, and just lovers of intense strategically action.

Review: RA2 Rocks if you like fast passed action, and first-rate animation. Loads of fun on or off line, two detailed campaigns, and excellent multiplayer support.

Summary: Another Multiplayer to Get! (Andrew plz grow up soon)
Review: C&C Ren. looks like another must buy game. I say this due to the fact that most of us FPS players will buy just because its a FPS (even tho Westwood says it isn't, cute tactic guys, in making all the non-FPS curious). All of the gaming reviews make it look good; and the vids I DL'd make it look Very Good.

Of course this depends on what type of player you are. If Sim City is more to your taste, then this might not be a game for you. But just because its a FPS (Sorta; 3rdP at times) doesn't mean you will like it. I love Ghost Recon, RS, RF, HL, Doom, etc. I don't really like games like Quake, T2 (endless ammo, super jumps, etc) I prefer more realistic action, but that is just me. With this said, lets get on with the review (Oh, I haven't played a demo so, ok... maybe not a real review)...

From what I have read and seen (DL'd vids) this game looks very good. But then we have all seen good movie previews and wished we hadn't wasted on the movie itself (sorta like the Robin Williams in Toys or the ending of A.I.)

The ultimate question is how the game will perform online in multi-play. Not to mention controls, flow of game, online interface, lag, etc.

Take controls for example, by looking at this game on the vids, it does rock, but if the controls are ass-backward, then it won't really matter how it looks. If there is lag and lots of bugs then you know what will happen...Lots of complaining, waiting for patches and looking to buy the next "awesome" game.

Anyway, I just hope this westwood game allows one to explore all the available terrain. Ghost recon kinda let me down in that some terrain would not allow a player access, even tho there was no "real" reason besides cutting corners to meet the release date. Don't get me wrong it is still a good game (Ghost Recon rocks in regards to realism and wide open playable spaces); I just hope renegade learned from other (games) mistakes.

Weapons look tight, but again the "Sniper Rifle" is present. Hopefully the game will provide enough distance for its "real" use. Nothing pisses me off more than a weapon that is present that can't really be used the way it was designed. CQC vs long range weapons: Crowded buildings, hallways and you pick up a sniper rifle; or the flame thrower that is more like a Bic lighter set on high (fun the first few times, but quickly thrown away cause a pistol kills in 3 shots) Not much use.

From the limited vids, it looks like there is some distance to warrant a sniper rifle but that is yet to be seen.

I am looking forward to this game for a few reasons. One, as a C&C fan. Two, as a FPS fan. Three, westwood didn't use an old engine, but made a new one and it should be better than those past. Four, being a futuristic type of game I'm sure the effects for weapons, explosions, etc, will rock.

The only con I see is the obvious...graphics and those opening day glithes that every game has when the first gamers go online to compete. (deathmatch, team matches, etc will allow lots of different types of play; hopefully the maps will be a plenty).

All in all a great way to sell this game to two groups of gamers. I would LOVE to get my hands on a demo and really provide a good review; maybe that chance will come.

Happy gaming, may this year be full of frags & tags,

STG
(waiting 4 my pre-ordered game)

Review: If you like C&C, this is even better than TS/Firestorm.
I was taking a chance to buy it, since Firestorm was sluggish
on the old dog, but it works with choppy video on my GATEWAY Pentium 166 (non-MMX), 128MB ram, no 3D card. Never tried net play but will need new puter first, I'm sure. Enjoy.

Summary: Ausom
Review: Mind Contral is asom. Makes all other teams better, and Yuis is the best.
