Rating: Summary: Best Ever Review: This is one of the best games I've ever played in my life. The graphics are extremely good. The AI is very much improved. Unlike the first one where you only had 4 weapons, this one has 9. The game itself takes you all over Europe; to the small towns, to the underground crypt (very cool), to a German runway, and most of all, Castle Wolfenstein. This is an absolute must-have. If you don't buy it, you will never know what you are missing.
Rating: Summary: The Best Game for the PC I Have Ever Played Review: I never played Wolfenstein 1 but when I got RTCW the other day and popped into my pc I was nothing short of blown away. This game is pure genious, the developers of this game should get a medal. First of all, this game is extremely fun. Even at parts that are very hard (and let me tell you, there are plenty of those) You just want to keep re-trying and re-trying. The graphics are amazing and smooth. (I have a geforce2 32mb, 1.47 amd athlon, 512 sdram, HP) and there are a few brightness flickers but nothing that's gonna ruin your enjoyment. The gameplay is not only fun as hell but very interesting as you go through Hitler's obsession with the occult. The only flaw I can find with this game is maybe that it's just too hard, but maybe I just need more practice. You get a great assortment of weapons and sometimes you have to go in blazing and sometimes you have to lurk in the shadows. It's a very well rounded World War II game. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up now. You won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: AMAZING!!!!! Review: Return to Castle Wolfenstein is simply the best first person shooter that I have ever played. I remember thinking the same thing when I first played Half-Life, then again with Medal of Honor but Wolfenstein truely delivers every aspect of an excellent FPS. This game has excellent graphics, great control, an awesome story line, excellent AI, very cool cut-scenes, and awesome weapons!!! What more could you ask for? Another thing that I like in Wolfenstein a little more than Medal of Honor is that Wolfenstein has plenty of blood and the dead bodies don't disappear as soon as they die. I know that this isn't really a big deal but I think that it adds a bit to the game. On top of all of these bonuses for the single player game, the multiplayer version is also very cool! Running on the Quake III engine, the online game is absolutely great and will keep you coming back for more and more. I highly recommend this game to anyone who appreciates first person shooters. This is a great game and should become a classic in the years to come. Personally, I can't wait for an expansion game or a sequal to come out. Buy the game!!! You won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: Man, when I found out ID was going to make a new Wolfenstein, I was going crazy just to get a little info on it. And let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed! The graphics, story, and gameplay is just one of the many features will make you drool. Built on the Quake III engine, it will not disappoint those who buy it, either. (Mind you, it won't play very well unless you have at least 128mb of ram) And the multiplayer? WOW! It's like being in WWII! You can be an axis or ally soldier, and it has actual missions, not just steal the flag and deathmatches, but missions like the beach assault where you have to plant dynamite by a door or wall, and the ice map where you have to steal documents and transmit them. This is a must have, so do whatever you can to buy it!
Rating: Summary: Great game, but way too short. Review: This is one of the best fps games I have played in a while, no halflife, but a great game none the less. I find it hard to believe that it is the Quake III engine, cause Quake III, although a pretty good game, never looked anywhere close to as good as this game does. Anyway, my only gripe on the game is that it is very short as compared to most fps. Seems the good games are always that way. Even Halflife, the best fps ever, has a very short SP game to it. I just wished there had been more to it than there was, but other than that I loved RTCW. I hope ID puts out more like it.
Rating: Summary: REALLY violent Review: Alot of people are going to say that two stars is unfair for a game that has such great graphics and playability...i understand where you're coming from if you think that, because this game looks great and is VERY fun. But it is way too graphically violent for me. I dont have anything against shooting games in general, I love Counter Strike and IGI, and Unreal Tournament was good back in the day, but Wolfenstein ups the ante way beyond simple kill and be killed gameplay, going to extremes like depictions of torture and mutilation. Even though i can spend hours shooting enemies in the head while playing Medal of Honor, and enjoy lopping off limbs in Rune, playing Castle Wolfenstein is, for me, completely demoralizing and dehumanzing. I dont play it because of that, and any game I wont play can't get better than two stars. By the way, this game is banned in Germany. But that might just be because of the anti-German sentiment as much as the violence.
Rating: Summary: Hours and hours of joy Review: This is a terrific, spooky game that requires not only a quick trigger-finger but a strategic mind in order to succeed. A lot has been written about the terrific multiplayer option that puts you in an extremely realistic combat setting. The single-player game is just as much fun thanks to the twisted story line that starts off with Himmler's real-life obsession with the occult and magnifies it to the point where reanimated zombies are threatening the world. The game's best creations by far are the brilliantly rendered female "Elite" troops -- sexy, leather-clad bad girls that move like liquid and have a deady aim. Unfortunately, they are also my only pet peeve about the game: these characters are so great (and cute) you almost wish there was a non-lethal way of defeating them.
Rating: Summary: RTCW continues the Wolfenstien legacy: Review: It began with the classic old-school Wolfenstein3D, which I remember running on an old IBM 386 PC, the ORIGINAL DOS, a 13" low-grade monitor, and a Disney Sound Source 8 bit sound card. Ahh, those were the days... Now, ID and Activision have teamed up to create one of the best FPS games ever: Return to Castle Wolfenstein. The game flat-out kicks. The thing runs on the Quake3 Arena, so you know it's going to be good. Character textures, ejecting particles, and LOTS and LOTS of Nazis. The AI is so dynamic that if you manage to fool one computer enemy, the next will anticipate your moves (i.e., if 3 of his buddies were just gunned down by you, the fourth Nazi will hide behind the same corner and shoot at the first thing that comes around it - namely YOU). The graphics are absolutely beautiful: it takes a good 1.8 gHz machine with upwards of 256 Megs of RAM and a GOOD video card to FULLY appreciate the game. Even on older, 3-digit-processor-speed machines, the game blew me away. When I turned all the graphics to "BEST", I almost cried because it was so detailed. Bullet particles will provide a dynamic light source in a dark room as they whizz by your head... SOO nice. But of course, the REAL reason that I bought the game: MULTIPLAYER! Put simply, this game will change the way you play online. First, don't bother unless you have a BETTER connection than 56k - the action can be so fast that if your connection lags AT ALL, you're toast. Cable or better makes the difference! Second, BUY A GOOD MOUSE! An optic mouse is best, because you can bet that it will NEVER snag (no ball, remember?). Third - find a good server, and GO! It's pretty simple to set up, but the online community is ENORMOUS!!! Upwards of 800 servers in the main database, and hundreds more that aren't included in the main search. I've been pleased with the "RtCW Central OC48" server, and my favorite, "Force From HEL". But enough about that - you want to hear about the GAME! The MP is different than most online FPS games - there is a clear mission, objective, and hierarchy to the teams. There are always two teams (Axis and Allied - duh!). Each team starts with an objective - for each map, there is a different objective for each team. You may have to destroy, capture, or defend objectives. Also, it's not always a frag-fest; I've won many missions without killing a single enemy, but you usually have to get your hands dirty before you get anywhere important... As for graphics, the game is still beautiful online, but I recommend turning the graphics down until there are no snags in the gameplay. This keeps you in the action, and prevents other people from wondering how you keep jumping accross the screen. Snipers, Medics, Engineers, Leiutennants, Rocket Launchers, Grenadiers, and machine-gun-freaks all play a role in the success of a team. My advice? Find a great group of folks to hang with and play until your clicking finger hurts. All told, this was absolutely the best game I've every played - the original still keeps me occupied for an hour now and then, but RtCW takes the cake for the absolute best FPS game of the year... a MUST HAVE. Enjoy - I know I did!
